<Exhack> The party arrived at a large ruined structure, formed of cracked marble and disintegrating plaster. The once elaborate and beautiful arches, and imposing Gothic spires hinted at religious origins. Inscribed on a large fallen slab at their feet, was the name of the once mighty cathedral, that now said, as if in a crude mockery: "G--e--t ------------ -- Out---- of Here--"
"Ai, and to think you talked me into this." Karaeshii sighed, stepping into the ruined temple. The smell of rotting tapestries and wet plaster assaulted his senses, and the generally damp air left a bad taste in his mouth. The priest clutched his laz pistol and halberd tightly, nowhere fully prepared prepared for whatever horrors awaited him.
<[Kai]> Kai followed close behind, and answered "hey, we needed to get to the next village, and the fastest way is through the catacombs. Sure, I've never been through personally, but the guy who sold me this map seemed pretty respectable" The Yamataian said, gripping his saber in it's sheath, not in the least bit afraid.
<Fay> Rymas followed along at a safe distance from the two in the lead. Shouldering his rifle, he looked this way and that to be sure no one was around but them. His sense of hearing wasn't very keen outside of water, but his eyes were unaffected. The Azorean didn't really like this place. It seemed... dead, in a way. Rymas had never been spiritual, but he could sense that something was amiss here.
<Kyoki> Shizuka straggled behind the group, constantly scanning around the dark rooms of the temple. Her hands were at her knives ready. She didn't seem to be able to hear much other than the foot steps of the others, but you never know what could be lurking.
<Exhack> A cubic mass of blue jelly emerged from a puddle near the altar, gurgling it's displeasure at the newcomers. A large maw formed in the center of the side facing the party, that let out a sickening hiss as it spat out a hard, white, tangled mass from inside the murky confines of it's body. Of these, were primarily humanoid, though a pair of sleek horns were visible among the tangled mass of bone and sinew
<Exhack> "Ah! Villainous monster!" Karaeshii yelled at the mass, pointing his halberd at it. If he was correct, his laz pistol would probably be ineffective against it. He began channeling his faith and reciting the opening verses of a mantra, allowing him to cast a protection spell on his teammates. A flash of light burst from his hands and the people around him would feel a slight tingle on their skin as the effects of a "Protection from Acid" spell kicked in.
<[Kai]> The saber came out before the blob even had a chance to move, it stood ready, quivering in anticipation, as it's owner smirked "Thanks for the buff, Karaeshii" the magic knight said, as a mist began growing around the party, water being collected from nearby so that a physical wall of ice could be conjured immediately if needed.
<Fay> Rymas hid behind a nearby pillar (or something like it) and took aim at the blob. He fired, sending a bolt of lightning straight into the blob, inflicting some light damage. The sniper pulled back on the bolt to recharge for another shot.
<Kyoki> Shizuka pulled out her knives, though she was fairly certain that slashing at a gelatinous mass such as this most likely wouldn't do much. She faded away into stealth, and tried to get in position for an attack.
<Exhack> The blob retaliated against Rymas by extending a large blocky semi-liquid appendage towards the Azorean, which parted around the pillar and wrapped around to pin him. Luckily, Karaeshii's buff prevented the gelatinously substance from eating away at his flesh, but the blob still attempted to squeeze him to death.
<Exhack> Karaeshii leaped at the squishy limb and swung down viciously with his halberd, splitting it in twain. But nearly a second after, it reformed, and the blob shot a glob of itself at him, pinning him to the damp ground.
<[Kai]> Hmm, new plan! Kai thought, moving on the fly, the mist suddenly reared angrily and flew at the arm, wrapping about it and freezing, it's coldness hoping to penetrate the arm, as Kai began muttering in latin, his eyes glowing a cool blue, as a large amount of icicles began forming above the blob. the spell would take a while, especially with part of his mind keeping the mist as ice, he would be vulnerable for a minute or so
<Fay> Rymas was pinned, but he took out his skinning knife and began to slice through the gelatin slowly, yet at a pace. Rymas could feel a chill down his cartilaginous spine. Bleh he thought to himself. It was already difficult to keep his body temperature up, but this was just horrid.
<Kyoki> Shizuka reappeared from her stealth, both of her knives glinted in the light, as she took a few slashes at the middle of the frozen arm. She hoped that it'd help in some way, rather than getting herself trapped as well.
<Exhack> The combined efforts of Rymas and Shizuka resulted in the limb breaking off, freeing the Azorean and sending the blob into a panic. It began slithering up the wall behind it, shooting multiple small globs of itself in every direction.
<Exhack> Karaeshii cast "Haste" on Kai, hoping that the magic knigt would be able to dispatch the blob quickly. The Iroma was still very much pinned down, and dislike the experience. Kai could possibly feel the world around him slowing down, or alternatively, simply abnormally energetic.
<[Kai]> With the 'haste' spell, a sudden influx of ice crystals came, till there was an anount roughly twice the size of the blob. the tips moved about, tracking the blob's every movement ferore Kai's eyes suddenly returned to normal and he uttered a single word "FIN!" and the ice came tearing from the air with terrible speed and accuracy, planting themselves into the creature, then freezing to it, and spiking into the ground with a thunderous crash, trapping the creature and slowly freezing it from the inside out. when the spell completed, kai fell to the ground, having used roughly half of his power in one spell.
<Exhack> And the blob was left a frozen, lifeless husk of iced gelatinous matter plastered against the wall, it's extended extremities evaporating as they lost contact with the controlling body. Karaeshii glanced at the others. "Please get to prying me loose soon, I have to exorcise this demon so it doesn't reform after it thaws."
