Nishitama TV [NTV] Conflict of Jurisdiction

NISHITAMA, KMS
Breaking News

The latest development in what some are calling the 'Tachibana Incident' happened today, as Major Fujiwara Renji was abducted by entities believed to be attached to the at-large crew of the SS Tachibana from his home in southern Hito-cho this morning. Vice Mayor Daidaiiro Misako has assumed authority over the civilian administration of the city.

Matters have been complicated in that acting Mayor Daidaiiro has refused aid from the Star Army of Yamatai in the investigation, stating that their authority stopped at the docks. She has staunchly defended the jurisdiction of the Yamatai National Police, which is inside the city-ship. This is in contrast to Mayor Fujiwara, who endorsed cooperation and pressed for Star Army of Yamatai involvement. An intended declaration of a State of Emergency today which would have justified Star Army of Yamatai's full access was stopped dead with his capture, and acting Mayor Daidaiiro's rise to authority.

Police Chief Saegawa has defended the decision, saying that her forces were 'determined to avenge their comrades from the bombing, and would definitely bring security and law back to Nishitama'. Patrols have increased 30% since the bombing.

Takeda-Taii of the Management of the Nishitama Port Authority, who was not available for interview, submitted a written response saying that she understood the wish for the Police to avenge their comrades, but to do so at the expense of military aid put pride above the citizenry.

When asked for comment, acting Mayor Daidaiiro responded:

"Mayor Fujiwara's intended declaration of a State of Emergency was simply premature, and the Police are sufficient to handle this task. Let us support them and allow them to do their jobs and avenge their comrades. Our military forces have a war to fight, and more important things to do than handle a small scale conflict."
