Wild Horses
As I sat stretched out
beneath the yawning oak,
staring out beyond grassy plains
being swallowed by the horizon,
two humming birds
aloft in flight,
beat a gentle breeze.
slowly it becomes faster,
the tempo rising,
and suddenly the grass
is swaying;
a synchronized wave,
passing across the field
straight toward the glowing eye,
hovering over mountains.
birds depart,
content with their display
and the world already seems darker,
even before its eye closes.
as it descends
there are no stars
just the eternal space
as one dream fades
into another...
