Method was sort of laid out in her bed in the medbay, an IV going to her right arm - which happened to be the only one remaining. The stump of the other was bandaged over. She looked a bit ridiculous in a hospital gown instead of the typically eclectic clothes she wore, and her eyes were looking at nothing in particular, the pupils almost dilated to the edges of her irises. Every so often her hand flopped loosely on the bed, and she mumbled nigh-constantly to herself.
It had been awhile, Kokuten thought, since his last operation. The last time he had attached a cybernetic limb to someone was when an IPG officer in Abjection got his arm ripped out by one of the ID-SOL prisoners. Though, that was after he had treated the poor amputee for broken bones by being beaten by his own arm. Even so, the time in between that operation and now seemed insignificant, being a Medic, turned Medical Officer, turned Doctor, attaching an arm was like going fishing. Angle the arm on to the shoulder, and then reel it into place. Bam. Your patient has a new arm.
The Captain entered the Med-Bay in a standard dress in accordance to most CSS Medical Staff specifically for the occasion. Since Method had lost her arm under his command, he felt personally responsible for giving her a new one. After much insistance to administration, he was able to take the procedure under his own wing.
His green LED eyes surveyed over Method for a moment before regarding the arm she had chosen to replace the one she lost.
"Good morning, Miss Method!" He began cheerily, still looking at her unattached cyberentic, but then looked upon her to continue, "I trust you are feeling well enough up to the operation?"
"A cirrus is a type of cloud," the drugged-up Freespacer informed Kokuten with a dopey smile spread across her face. Her remaining hand reached in the general direction of the new arm she'd picked out - in contrast to the cybernetics that most Nepleslians used, mostly indistinguishable from natural body parts, she had picked out a wire- and tube-laden monstrosity tipped with a claw made up of two 'fingers' and one 'thumb.' "And that is the prettiest dog I have ever seen!"
"It will be all yours in but a moment." Kokuten's grin remained, despite Method's strange ramblings. Part of him loved the pre-surgery procedure, seeing his patients a tad doped up and saying hilariously funny, or downright suprising things. He gestured towards the arm.
"Now, I know you may not be in the best state of mind to answer this, but, are you sure you want this one? I mean no offense, I just wish to make sure." The doctor explained, looking at the wrenchcrank-looking design of the arm. To be honest, he admired the cybernetic limbs design. Despite it's lack of artistic touch, it seemed so functional.
"I'm sure!" Method gestured expansively, clearly imagining that she still had both arms. "It'll promote station-wide peace and love! And it looks cool!" Her legs bucked underneath the covers and kicked them off, leaving their entire length below the tops of the thighs bare, showing the lichen on her pale skin. "Hit me, baby!"
Kokuten grabbed the cloth as it hit the air, covering his eyes momentarily as he laid the blanket back down over her. Not wanting to be accused of staring at anything lewd.
"Let us keep the blanket on, Miss Method." Kokuten said, still smiling and beginning to load a hypolathe with some more enhanced painkillers. "Do you want to be awake or asleep as I perform this process?"
"How do you like your cherry pie?" Method asked, her eyes not-focusing at some point slightly to the side of Kokuten's head.
"Warm." Kokuten responded promptly, squeezing the trigger on the hypolathe causing some of the liquid out. "Why?"
"Because that'll decide how long I cook it! Duh." The Freespacer smacked her hand down on her leg through the replaced blanket.
"Well, then do you want to be awake or asleep when you cook your cherry pie?" Kokuten asked, only one of his eyes turning towards the Spacer, as his other inspects the Hypolathe.
"How do you want your pie?" Method demanded, clearly becoming frustrated with the man.
Kokuten stared at her for a few seconds.
"Oh!" he started to realize the hidden meaning there, "Ah! Well. Then good night!" The Captain gently pressed the needle into the Spacers arm, knocking her out.
Method slumped back onto the five or so pillows she had stacked behind her, her eyelids slamming shut.
When Method would open her eyes again, she be looking down at a newly attached cybernetic arm. Beyond that arm, stood Kokuten, slightly bloodied at the hands. A small successful smile was pasted on his face as he leaned closer to her.
"Miss Method? How do you feel?" Kokuten asked, his eyes green glow illuminating the bed and a part of Method herself.
Method's eyes creaked open, going to her new arm first thing. The claw clenched and unclenched, and then she moved the whole thing around experimentally before a huge grin spread across her face. "It worked! It worked, you did it!"
"Of course! I made sure the seams were connected flawlessly, so you have absolute, and total control of your new limb." Kokuten said proudly, holding out a metal-hand to be received by her own. Her comment definately lit a small fire in his heart. "I had to pinch some nerve-endings to make the claw move and squeeze effectively. You may feel a little numbness at first, but eventually, it will settle in comfortably!"
Method lifted her claw and clasped his hand, squeezing perhaps a bit too hard. "I can REALLY hang on to stuff now! I owe you, Kokuten!"
"Nonsense! You owe me nothing! Your thanks is enough for me." Kokuten smiled warmly, his metal hand not feeling the full-strength of her claw. He had to force himself to prevent a bit of boastful pride.
"I'll squeeze off some heads for you!"
