RP: NSS Acadia [Post Mission 3]: R&R (Rest and Rations)

Avel took another bite of Haddock fillets. What did Phaedra ask again? "Hey Phaedra." She turned to the sniper. "What did you ask me earlier? I was kind of distracted." She hoped it wasn't about the 'incident' in the medical bay. The last thing she wanted to do was discuss THAT when surrounded by hundreds of marines.

"What did you ask me earlier? I was kind of distracted," asked Avel.

Phaedra turned back to Avel, suprised that she finally had registered her presence.
"Distracted is definitely true..." she thought.

"I was wondering if you were feeling better, that is all."

Avel smiled. "Better than ever actually." She said, taking another bit of her meal. "The hero treatment I've been getting is every bit as great as I thought it would be and I wholly intend to outdo myself on my next mission." She had tried to picture in her mind how she would do this. Most of what she came up with involved going on 3 missions back to back and committing even more barbaric acts of destruction.

"Cool outfit by the way." Avel decided to ask "Where can I get one like that?"

Alex smiled a little. "Well at least now we know, that bloody gauss shots are unhealthy huh?" she said and laughed. "Well at least you are okay. And you didn't even have to get prosthetic which is good probably. Although I myself fancy them a little."

Ha! Fancy them a little. Alex looked at her metal hands. Well a little more then. She turned then to MC. "Sir? Could I speak to you privately when there will be time. I have something important to discuss." she asked and even managed to turn down her smiling upon her question.

"Thanks." Sam sat down in the patted seat, giving Phaedra a small smile before she realized it made her look too feminine and choking it down into a sort of awkward rictus. She pried the top off her rations and peered in. Buffalo wings! Yessss. She pulled one out and stuck it in her mouth, chewing lightly as she removed the small tray to see what she'd gotten for her side. Some sort of... white... oh, that must be the coleslaw. The marine shrugged and tucked in, ignoring the fact that she was getting sauce all over her fingers.

She looked up from her eating as Suku spoke again. "Uh? Oh, it's alright, I guess. Typical marine life, yeah?" She laughed huskily. "'cept for that crazy bitch medic. You hear what she did t'me?"

"You're freaking out over me borrowing a key card? What use could this thing possibly be to me other than returning the clothes you gave me?"
Ah, well. The MC rehearsed his reply in his head while the other marine continued talking. His demeanour softened by her tendering of a non-criminal excuse. Thats nice of you, but you must understand there are security conc-

"That's what the last 19 privates, 4 Staff Sergeants and my old Sergeant said. Spoiler alert; They wound up regretting it and looking very very stupid."
Here he was taken slightly aback, when he recovered his mood degenerated into back into extreme displeasure. Avel had certainly bit the hand that fed her. Fian had waived most formalities in his unit, but he certainly did not waive respect. In return he respected the decisions some marines undertook against orders if they believed they were right, with on the condition that they bore the consequences good or bad of the outcome. Some paid with their rank or lives, some like Avel owed their accolades to this rule, and by this rule now she will be judged.

By this time the woman had left the conversation, but no matter. He bookmarked the recording on his earpiece and then stood up solemnly to address Chief Ran across the table. "Chief, please escort and confine P3C Sitkeas to the brig until the end of the ceremony." He then turned to Avel. "P3C, you are to cooperate peacefully with the Chief until further notice."

Shit

Ran immediately chugged the rest of his "coffee", and reaching across a table for a random Marine's rations immediately started stuffing food in his mouth to mask the scent of alcohol, wiping his lips afterward just in case. He didn't want the MC to get on him about drinking while on duty.

Getting up and rolling his neck while doing so, the Chief made his way over to Avel, placing his hands on his hips - notably, his right hand near the pistol that was stuck in his belt. Reaching into his left pocket, he pulled out his datapad and brought up the Universal Code of Military Law on screen.

"Under Article A of the Universal Code of Military Law, I'm detaining you for showing disrespect toward a superior commissioned officer." The Chief looked to Fian "Anything else to report, sir?"

Fian stepped back from his chair so that Ran could do his work, at the same time he motioned Alex that he was busy.
"Under Article A of the Universal Code of Military Law, I'm detaining you for showing disrespect toward a superior commissioned officer." The Chief looked to Fian"Anything else to report, sir?"
The MC brought the keycard in his hand ominously up to eye level for two seconds while he considered. Burglary, a Class C offence punishable by imprisonment and dishonourable discharge. He then gave it a twirl and slipped it into his chest pocket. "Nothing... for now, Chief. Carry on."

"What'd you get, sweetie?" asked Suku, to the young girl on her shoulders, bouncing her up a little to get her in a more comfortable position. Her garrison cap had been pushed forward, having the front of it pushed to the brow. Every once and a while she had to push it back up to keep it from falling off, though she let it fall as she watched Avel defy Fian's rank. She strolled on over to get a better look and noticed Ran detaining her.

"There ya' go, Rui. That pair you pretend you have is showing." Suku giggled maliciously as she walked over to Fian.

"Hello there, Vel Steyr." Suku smiled sweetly at the Master Chief. Bouncing Carina up again to keep her on her shoulders. "How ya been?"

Edward wandered through the canteen with pad and pencils, he wasn't hungry but the company was conductive to his drawing. At one of the tables sat a familiar face, the marine from the Hostile PA. Edward walked over and asked in a polite, neutral "excuse me, would you mind if I sat here"

Alex didn't get answer from MC but that was okay. He had other stuff to do. Like arresting Avel for insubordination. Well if she going to be locked, than Alex might not have to bother telling Fian abotu her also beign crazy. But better be sure then cry later. She will tell MC when she will get a chance.

A voice talking to her de-railed her train of thoughts. She looked up and saw guy from Hangar. "No I wouldn't. Please sit down." she said to him. "Soory for throwing that Hostile on you before. I had to start treating people."

Avel had trained her entire life towards this moment and now because of a bad decision, it was all about to come crashing down. She called back to Fian as Chief Ran escorted her out of the room. "Mc Fain I'm sorry! I had no idea there were laws against disrespect! I've worked my entire life towards this, please just let me have this one thing and I'll never disrespect anyone ever again!" She stopped when she was out of the cafeteria.

She felt pressure behind her eyes and forced them shut. There was no way she was going to cry and loose what little dignity she hadn't sacrificed back in the cafeteria.

Edward nodded and sat down, he brought up his pad and began sketching again. He looked up at Alex then quickly went back to sketching, after a moment of it he looked up again and said "so you're a medic then ma'am? I should have guessed from how professional you were, and never mind about the power armor ma'am, you had a job to do." with a small but genuine smile, then went back to sketching.

Every so often, Carina kept being bounced up on Suku's shoulders preventing her from falling off. Granted, when she'd seen Suku's hat tipping over she was tempted, very tempted to simply take it off her head and put it on. Thankfully she restrained the urge as Suku spoke to her.

Suku said:
"What'd you get, sweetie?"

Carina opened the ration can just to see what she'd gotten. Rummaging around the contents she pulled out the entree and was about to read it aloud when she caught sight of Fian. Her happy expression immediately turned sour upon seeing the MC. Clutching the large entree packet in her hand she tried hard not to throw it at him after all, her father had told her getting something like it out of one of those cans was as rare as it got. Her cheeks puffed up slightly as she finally, begrudgingly responded,

"I gotta meat roll." she muttered taking out something else she recognized. A very non-descript bottle of amber hued liquid. The last time she'd seen one, Suku'd told her if she ever got another, it was hers. Why someone wanted to drink the nasty stuff was anyone's guess. With a huff, she held it out, over Suku's shoulder for the petty officer to take.

Before Fian could respond, and all of the commotion happening, Suku was surprised by a bottle being handed to her by the seven-year-old on her shoulders. She took the bottle and traded it with her Garrison Hat. She mostly ignored the cries and pleas of the other woman being dragged off.

"Thank you, Carina!" Suku smiled up at the girl. The bottle found it's way into her left pocket, for consumption later.

Alex looked at Eddie with a little surprise. "Oh please don't ma'am me. I am just P3C. That is like lowest rank that exists." she said ans widened her mouth in smile. "But thank you. And yes I am medic but I don't think I am there yet, although I am trying to be as profesional as I possible." If her strange skin would allow she would blush now upon getting a compliment like this. Instead she just tried to put her attention back to her dinner.

After a while she turned back to Ed. "Oh, my name is Alexandra, but call me Alex." She said and reached her hand to Ed. "What are you drawing?" she asked.

Edward gave a small nod to the affirmative and looked again at his sketching, one careful pencil stroke later and his smile widened slightly, content with the framework. He moved on to the shading and outlining.

Edward looked up and nodded "I am Edward, It is nice to meet you Miss Alex" when she reached out edward hesitated for a moment before handing it over with a slightly nervous "nothing much Miss Alex" on the thin drawing paper was a portrait of Alex mid-smile, it was by no means a masterpiece, but captured the lighting and detail with some success.

"Miss? Just Alex is okay," she said and looked at the drawing. "Oh," was all she could get out of herself. The drawing was pretty nice. Nothing professional but it looked good. Her smile frozed on her lips for a while until she gathered herself again. "This is pretty nice," she said.

As Avel walked down the hallway towards the brig, she kept an emotionless face. Her mind however was weighing various actions, consequences and possible outcomes. It was clear that her career in the Nepleslian military was over and her best chance at a new life was escaping. "And doing things right this time. I can't believe I overlooked that rule. God that was so stupid. No use crying over it now."

Escaping was easier said than done, she noted, Ran was a hardened veteran and not easily surprised. Most of the plans she came up with to deal with him often involved a series of bullets shredding her vital organs. So she decided to use one where the gunshot wound was least likely to be fatal.

Keeping the same emotionless expression, Avel waited until they were in a blind spot in between the cameras. "This is going to hurt." With that she took a step backwards and rammed the back of her head into Ran's nose as hard as she could. She then jumped into the air and prepared to shove her foot in the same place with equal force.

Edward gave a small nod "thank you Alex, I am glad you like it"Edward's tone was honest and lightly satisfied, smiled lightly but kept a mostly neutral expression.
