RP: NSS Acadia [Post Mission 3]: R&R (Rest and Rations)

The entirety of it shocked Phaedra; the fact that Avel showed such utter disrespect toward a superior officer. But what actually impressed her was that the Master Chief was not hesitant in dealing with such unruly conduct. While Phaedra did feel a small bit of sympathy towards Avel as Chief Ran escorted her to the brig; she was not so sympathetic to Avel's ignorance of orderly conduct.

Phaedra suddenly realized her mouth had been gaping and quickly returned to finishing her chili. Although while she finished her meal, something important occured to her:

"I should mention to the MC about Avel's collapse two days ago; perhaps she wasn't in her right mind," thought Phaedra.
 
"Master Chief Fian Vel Steyr, eh?"

After the MC's display of military law in effect, it was hard to believe anyone else would approach him so quickly after the offense. Rico Sanroma, however, wasn't one to generally fear the Vel Steyr no matter the circumstance. The suave Nepleslian sergeant gave his quieter counterpart a solid pat on the square of his back, letting out a short chuckle as he leaned a bit and shot the MC a sly grin. "Pretty sweet sortie, yeah baby? My squad got 47 kills," Rico gloated. It was probably true. Maybe.

The sergeant stretched his hand over to the table and lightly rapped his knuckles atop the box containing the plethora of medals and other military decorations. "Betcha most a' them medals are for me, yannow what I'm sayin' baby?" The sergeant joked with a smile.
 
Was I too harsh? Fian wondered, lost in thought. There were so many factors to be taken into account. He didn't know Avel before the previous mission, does she normally talk like that or is it because of some kind of nervous shock from the combat? He did give her a week off duties and only two days has passed so far, it could be argued that she was still recovering from the ordeal. On his end however, he had to set an example for the whole platoon. It was unfortunate for such an incident to happen here and now in the cafeteria... There were people talking to him but he did not hear them, until Rico slapped him awake.

"Ahahaha!" Fian laughed and smiled akwardly for the wrong reasons. First he wanted to diffuse the previous situation in his head, secondly he couldn't recall accurately if what Rico said was the case and thirdly he didn't really know what he's sayin' baby.

He turned himself around and then gave the Cassanova a playful punch in the kidneys, turning the conversation around too in the process. "Hey hey hey how are you doing? Had enough of the guard duties I make you pull?"
 
After the commotion subsided, Phaedra turned back towards Sam.

"I can't say I heard anything of what she did to you, but I can say I do not agree with her treatment methods," she said quietly, eyeing the Petty Officer from her peripheral vison.
 
Viktor was halfway through his meal when the commotion caught his eye. Seeing the MC being stern distilled a new level of respect for him in Kingston's heart; behavior like that should and could never go unpunished lest it run rampant.

Once Avel was out of the room, he looked across the table to Phaedra and Sam. A shame to see a new recruit go, but more importantly he wanted to know the story. Bobbing his head in the direction Ran had escorted the disrespectful Private, he asked the ladies, "What was that all about?"
 
Avel was correct. Ran was a hardened veteran. Not only had the Chief been in several barfights and on-ship brawls in his life, he also had his arm blown off in the Kennewes Offensive, and had taken command of an entire squad while still missing his arm

The back of her head impacted rather painfully onto Ran's nose, but all it did was make him angry.

While she jumped, the Chief immediately reached up and grabbed a fold of her clothing. Pulling her down, he brought his cybernetic right arm back and threw a straight into the back of her head, letting go at the last second so that she would stumble forward from it and hit the front of her head on the wall in front of her.

Knowing that his arm was metal, the Chief tried as hard as he could to put as little force behind it as possible so that he did not end up murdering a Marine. After his punch connected, the Chief would immediately draw his pistol and aim it at the Marine's spine.

"One more maneuver like that, and I'll make sure you sit on the sidelines during the whole fuckin' invasion while we get to fight." Ran half growled and half spat blood at her that was dribbling down from his nose.
 
Groaning, Avel fought against the intense pain in her head and slowly stood up. Something in her mouth felt loose and after moving her jaw around she spat whatever it was into her hand. As her vision cleared she recognized it as one of her canines.

So Ran was going to shoot her in the spine? She didn't really need the use of her legs to do what she had in mind and surrender wasn't an option in either. "My spine you say?" She replied calmly. Then she charged and tackled him. Knowing that she had only microseconds to act, drove her two index finger towards his eyes at maximum speed.

The very moment Avel made a move to tackle the Chief, Ran immediately squeezed the trigger and sent a .45 slug traveling through her thigh at point blank range. In fact, seeing as the Marine sought to take out his eyes, the Chief would fire two more follow-up shots from point blank range as her tackle connected, aiming to stop her from gouging his eyes out by shooting her, instead.
 
"What was that all about?" asked Viktor. Phaedra's remaining eye glanced quickly at the nearby Master Chief before she turned her attention toward Viktor.

"Avel showed blatant disrespect for the Master Chief; apparently without realizing it," said Phaedra. "But it is suprising that a Marine would be ignorant of such a basic rule of conduct," she added.

"The more I think about this, the more it appears like Avel truely had no idea what she was doing," thought Phaedra, tapping the giant walnut with her metal left hand.

Then she heard the gunshot. Instinct took over and her right hand immediately reached for her sidearm.
 
"FUCK!" Avel mentally cursed at both the sound and the unimaginable pain coming from her thigh. It would be a miracle indeed if no one had heard that. She had to end this fight and end it right NOW!

Fighting both the pain and with everything she had, Avel grabbed the gun with one hand and drove her index and middle finger into Ran's eye. Another shot went off, this time carving a furrow along the side of her face. That was too close for comfort. "Just keel over in defeat already!" She forced out.
 
Sam simply watched the commotion as the two went on, escewing all pretenses of looking out of the corner of her eye. She munched on her wings, offering one to Phaedra with her free hand. Then she heard the gunshot and nearly fell out of her chair.

"What the fuck was that?!"
 
Ran couldn't believe that there were still fingers jabbing his eye. Were this a situation in which he'd walk out with permanent eye loss, he would simply back down. But there were always cybernetics. His cybernetic arm gripping the gun, the Chief would wrench the pistol free of Avel's hand.

Getting himself low and risking losing an eye, the Chief howled and brought his left elbow up and charged into Avel's stomach with it, attempting to pin her to the wall and bring the now hot barrel of the pistol crashing repeatedly to her face, the full force of his cybernetic arm behind it.
 
Avel just barely managed to duck and avoid being eviscerated by Ran's cybernetic arm. The move sent a jolt of white hot pain to her head and she nearly blacked out from it. "Must not give up." Bracing herself for another massive dose of pain, she kicked both of his kneecaps with everything she had. She highly doubted they were meant to bend in that direction.
 
Ran felt a horrible pain as his left knee snapped inward, while his right knee was painfully kicked, but not fully broken. Seeking to end this high level of bullshit, the Chief, with his pistol barrel still near the soon-to-be P4C's head, sending a last .45 slug hurtling sideways toward her lower jaw before collapsing on his left knee.

Through fits of rage and pain, the Chief struggled to pull out his datapad and access the ship's PA system.

Marines wounded at the brig! Ohhh shit! Fuckin' kill this bitch!

Sam's head snapped up as she heard the announcement over the PA. Food forgotten, she snatched up her HHG from her belt, pushing out of her seat and dashing down towards the brig.
 
Suku growled angrily as she set Carina down on the floor. It was her time off, and now she had to go fix up some unlucky jerk.

"Alright sweetie, Miss Suku's gotta go help someone, go kick Fian in the shins or something, but stay out of trouble." Suku smiled at the little girl and ran off towards the brig, pulling out her hypolathe and setting in the painkiller.
 
Some of the color had drained from Avel's face due to the blood loss. But when Ran got onto the PA system it turned ghost white. "FFFFfffffff" Reaching into his pocked she grabbed his keycard and took a zig zag path towards the bridge. As fast as her wounded body could take her.

"Get to the bridge, lockdown the ship and pump it full of knockout gas. It's the only chance I have."
 
Sam turned a corner, nearly colliding with Avel as she ran. She saw the woman's disheveled state, the bullet wounds, and that she wasn't Ran, and put two and two together to figure out that this must have been the "bitch" the Chief was talking about. She raised her revolver to the woman's stomach and pulled the trigger several times, the gun barking again and again.
 
Fucking c***...

Ran propped himself up on his right arm, reaching towards his pistol. He had already heard the running of several Marines coming towards him, and as Sam started firing at her, he sent a second message over the PA system.

Attention all bridge personnel! Lock the fucking bridge down! Lock down all paths and seal off any and all exits from the brig!

Suku passed Sam and Avel, descending down towards the brig. She moved quickly, in fact, she still hadn't caught on to how she left her hat with Carina. When she got there, she saw the wounded Chief on the floor. With a bit of a wince on her face, the Medical Officer kneeled down to the man and jabbed him with some painkiller.

"Fuck, Rui. You look like shit." was Suku's comment as she alleviated his pain.
