Prime Minister Cameron Blackblade sat across from his son, Hien Kurushi Blackblade, in the intricately decorated octagonal room that served as the primary office of the chief executive of the Confederation.
"Father, you do realize we are going to raise significant heads with this move, yes?" said the relatively young Hien, reviewing the document for the seventh time. "Our alliance with the Yamataians could be strained given that we are getting so close to the Neplesians."
"I doubt it," said Cameron, as sure about this as he was about anything. "Nepleslia and Yamatai are not enemies or rivals. Furthermore, it only makes sense we get closer to our own bretheren. Given our current situation, they will make Operation: Hephesteus even easier to implement."
Cameron reached for the platnium-encased pen in his suit jacket and read over the document one more time. "Son, this is more than just politics. It's survival. This alliance will facillitate everything we need to finally vanquish our enemies once and for all."
Cameron signed the document, his eyes flaring red as he scorched the parchment directly under his name in an intricate pattern - the phoenix emblem of the Nerimian Confederation. "It is done. GoldenGate, transmit to the Neplesians."
Hien had his reservations, but he trusted the judgement of his father. "So be it, father. To the Confederation and the Pride of Suzaku."
Cameron chuckled, the holographic screen behind him showing images of a massive wormhole being generated by the Imperial star fortress in the Neplesia system. A colossal asteroid nearly 1/3rd the size of Earth's moon was being pushed through the wormhole. It was one of the mighty shipyards Phoenix Corporation used to construct its warships.
