KYOTO — Premier Ketsurui Yuumi has been re-elected by default after her only opponent, the diplomat Sachiko, left the race.
K. Yuumi, 40, returns to her third term bolstered by Ketsurui Chiharu, the legendary admiral who became a deity after her death decades ago.
K. Yuumi named K. Chiharu as her vice premier, a position created under the Premier's power to manage her cabinet.
K. Chiharu is expected to bring a stronger military focus to K. Yuumi's administration, which largely spent it's energy on restoring the imperial and planetary governments after the Battle of Yamatai seven years ago.
A spokeswoman for the administration said Sachiko was offered a position within the Department of Diplomacy. The spokeswoman didn't know if the Elven candidate took the job.
