I just wanna be sure: They asked for bigger guns on their starships, yet it's been around since they've had guns? Did they ask for bigger weapons as the first starships were being made?
 
Oh, Whooooops. Didn't catch that one. No, they first starship guns were small and ineffectual. This is what they requested afterwards.
