Question on whether certain character type is acceptable

Having recently gotten off of finally watching Outlaw Star, and discovered this place on a stroke of luck, I've gotten a bit of interest in joining up.

Specifically, I was looking through the tech info--and am somewhat interested in trying to play as an ARIA. It wasn't made clear though if they were a PC character type though. Even though the idea of playing a bio-android-computer-type character appeals to my current concepts.

Is this allowable?

If you had a game master that wanted you to play an ARIA in his/her plot, it'd be alright. Otherwise, I'd say no since the character would be limited to a specific ship, etc.

The "NI-ARIA" Model was designed to serve as the new replacement artificial body for the United Outer Colonies and Lorath Matriarchy, these models are fully independent and sentient and utilize pre-existing neural data which is placed in the 'shell'. These bodies are only available for players in the United Outer Colonies and Lorath Matriarchy factions.

If the NI-ARIA type is not what you have in mind, and you're looking for more of a synthetic personality for your ARIA which develops into a full personality, then that would involve this model of ARIA:

To be exact, the Type 2 or Type 3 models. In that case, you'd have to find a ship to have your ARIA serve on, and at the moment its slim pickings, but things may pick up soon.

I would suggest looking into a position with the United Outer Colonies Peacekeeper Forces. They're usually looking for up-and-coming players and could have an opening for an ARIA unit. Alternatively, if you're an experienced roleplayer, I would suggest getting in touch with Tiff, (Jo Midori) and speak to her about any potential Lorath Matriarchy plot openings. I'm not entirely sure if we have any, but maybe she may be inspired on where to place you.

Yeah, the more synthetic one is what I was thinking of--I don't mind waiting for a little while for an opening to crop up--I'm not in any particular rush to jump into the fray, but it's a concept I've been interested in experimenting with for a while.

In the meantime--would playing one as a secondary character--when such a slot should open up anyway-be viable, and I can work on a main character in the meantime?
