Question on Yamatians on/in Neplesia

I was talking with Moonman a bit ago working out some question I had while making my character for the Kestrel ship and a question came up that neither of us could answer: Do Yamatians (the race) exist on Neplesia? I know that Geshrin are not that uncommon so from that perspective it doesn't seem all that strange that some Yamatians might have moved in (even if at small numbers). I know that the treaty between Neplease and the Yamataian Empires restrict SAoY from going into Nepleslian space except when on official business but it does not say if this extends to Yamataian civilians (whether SaoY retirees or completely civilian). It would seem it would screw with trade if the civilians where restricted as well, but I wanted an official answer before finishing the char.

I also had some other questions on the Yamatians:

1) Do they have the pointed ear business of the Nekos, or is that a optional thing?

2) Are they allowed to join the SAoN?

3) What exactly is "limited gravity controlâ€

1. Ears are optional.

2. Ummmm ... yeah, I guess they can. They can live on Nepleslia, so yeah.

3. Limited gravity control includes flight, but it is slow and drains energy at a larger and faster rate than it does a Neko. Basically, you can slow falls and float over objects, but at speeds no faster than 20 mph/32 kph.

4. Mostly basic healing -- moderate injuries could be healed, but at a slower rate and needing more energy. Regenerating limbs is theoretically possible, but that would probably require breaking down muscles for the needed calories.

5. Geshrin look like a human, yeah. They have some advantages -- you need to find the old Neko comparison page to plot them specifically -- but they have some better disease and poison resistance, and the benefit of more computerized brains (but not on a level of Yamataians).

Yamataians, as a race, are completely banned from Neplesia without permission from the government.
Also, I think Yamataians can choose whether or not they want the cat ears, but they all have only 4 fingers.

From what I understand, Nekos are banned, not Yamataians.

After all, many Yamataians were once Nepleslian.

In addition, Yamataians have 5 fingers, as can some later-model types of Neko.

Not that I'm disagreeing with you, but where did you get this from? I myself think it's kind of unreasonable to believe that a few Yamataians would not have developed attatchments to Nepleslia and chose to stay there during the independance.

Those who stayed after the independence of the Nepleslians may all be Geshrin, if that took place prior to YE 27, when the Yamataian design was put into main-stream use.

Also, I have no reason to believe Yamataians or Geshrin are forbidden on Nepleslia at all.

Nepleslia seceeded from the Yamataia Star Empire in YE 28, so Yamataians being on Nepleslia before the split is possible.

More likely, NH-22C were on the planet.

Remember, Yamataians are relatively new as a species. Before, they were an offshoot of the NH-22M project.

Reading through some things I have come up with a few other questions:

-Do Yamatians have the same/similar abilities of things like the NH-29 in the generic non combat areas like senses and digestion?

-What kind of lifespan do they have? The NH-29 says they have around a century but I can't find a average lifespan for the more normal races so I can peg the Yamatians lifespan between the two.

- No, they don't. Nekos are still meant as a warrior species and thus have senses and an operating system which is quite superior. Yamataians are civilian android models.

- Yamataians live for around 150 years - or so they are expected to. They have a 3 month pregnancy and take 15 years to mature physically from childbirth.

Also, to add to what Doshii mentioned before, yamataians can't really regenerate limbs realistically unless they actually get their limb chopped off but recover it within an acceptable span of time to put it back on the stump and hope the hemosynth healing will deal with the rest.

Yamataians, I believe, last longer -- 150 years. Don't quote me though.

As for senses ... not entirely. Wes should probably answer the specifics; my memory tells me they don't have the same honed senses of a Neko.

Ahem. Again, its not a question of fairness. Yamataians are civilian android models, the NH-29 nekovalkyrja are a warrior species - though adapted to be able to function autonomously instead of purely being weapons like they were considered before - mostly the mark of the mostly-nekovalkyrja Ketsurui clan trying to guarantee a future as a sentient species for their kind.

Having talked with Doshi it looks like the senses are pretty much human-standard (seems really harsh, but if thats the way of it), but what about the other question? Dp they have human-standard digestion or can they process things with a range like Nekos (to use some of the examples, salt water, grass, and so forth)?

Mostly the same as us humans. Just take into account their disease resistance (perhaps also giving some protection against food poisoning) and some other quirks.

Nekos are banned from Nepleslia. If Hanako had been found on Nepleslia and the news got out, it'd make a bit of an uproar.

Yamataians are permitted to live on Nepleslia, but they may have the unfortunate burden of suspicion placed on their shoulders.

Yamataians can eat a wider variety of foods and organic material, since they have neko-style digestion instead of human-type.

Yamataian senses are slightly better than a human's, especially old people--since Yamataians can recover from hearing loss and such. In particular, the Yamataians have great vision. They can see quite far and quite clearly. Their eyes are just a little bigger than a human's, too. The Yamataians with Neko ears also have slightly better (and more directional) hearing.

So it has been a while and I know for a fact the stance on Yamataians (Neko specifically) have/are changing. I know for sure that if there ARE Neko (Neko-styled Minkan bodies?) they're no longer banned from Yamatai. I also figure if there is some amazingly minute amount of genuine Neko, they'd be exempt from the old laws.

However, I do believe they'd be facing some discrimination among the military (primarily within reaching its upper ranks like it tends to be in Yamatai for non-Neko), so @Ametheliana and @Gunhand4171, maybe expand on this old discussion some kthnx?

Not a Nepleslian FM or anything, but I feel like the "No Neko" rule applies to active duty Neko, whose bodies are still classified as military weapons despite gaining full personage. (Which is kind of funny because Neps love weapons so why not a walking weapon?) So any Neko you might see in Nepland at this point would be decommissioned and effectively be a Yamataian/Minkan/Civilian body — and all of those can get special elf ears or be anthros in the setting — which have never been banned.
