Questions on Elysians

I'm considering making an Elysian for Gamer's freelancer plot, but I've got a few questions about the culture that aren't answered in the wiki. Are any of the GMs who worked on the race still around? If not, I'll just try throwing 'em out on here and see if anybody else can answer them... when I get the list together. I'm still generating questions.

It depends on what you wanna know. =) Ask some questions about what sort of info you're looking for.

Most of 'em aren't so much questions on the culture itself as they are what-ifs.

My main one: The wiki points out that there's no stigma to married Elysians having extramarital sex, as long as it's with a non-Elysian. And, plebes are generally from bloodlines that have intermingled with other races. So, the question there is, what happens if (and I know this is probably quite uncommon) a married Patrician woman ends up impregnated by a man from another race? Would the kid be considered a Patrician or a Plebeian, or would it just be totally unthinkable to carry it to term?

Whether the pairing results in a child at all would depend on her partner's species. We'd need to know that.

Assuming that there is a child, the Patrician will not acknowledge the child at all, or her social standings will be ruined. She will most likely hide her pregnancy by going off-world and away from prying eyes until the child is born. Depending on how much the child looks like an Elysian, the child will either be passed off as a Plebeian or whatever the father's species is. She will either end up as a servant in the Patrician's household, or be given up to an orphanage.

I'm just talking out of my butt here, so Kim should feel free to correct me.

That's about right by my impression of Elysian culture. The mother would most likely abandon or abort the pregnancy as quietly as possible to maintain her social standing.

I'm pretty sure that the extramarital affairs where a child is produce would only really be okay if it was a male Patrician based on the old school views of a Patriarchal society. I think even if the male created a child with a mistress or servant or whatever- it wouldn't be recognized unless it really really looked like a Patrician.

When I think of Elysian standards, I think Medieval type of views. After all, it has only been in recent years that women in Elysia have started to gain equal political and social footing.
