Dragon's Sword -- Factory Zone

Sanda kept kept up a steady stream of fire from her plasma rifle and her shoulder mounted gauss cannon on anything that moved while she examined the route the would need to take to get to the access shaft. It was would have been a fun challenge if it wasn't for all the Mishhu shooting at them. The Ranger cursed in surprise and annoyance as her shots, while dead on target, passed through Mishhu harmlessly. Another new toy in the Mishhu horror show arsenal.

Some of the team started traveling the deadly conveyor belt to the other side. Sanda remained behind with some of the others to provide over watch fire. One thing she had learned is that it was best to take down Mishhu with combined firepower. Cassie's excitement caused her to turn around. Que es? She thought before the Cat-girl fired off the bazooka at a group of Rippers that had entered the room.

"Nice!" Sanda exclaimed. "Grab another one Cassie and target that other Mishhu. Try to detenate the shot in front of it. Our shots are just passing through it. I'll cover you."

YE 46.1.5

YSS Dragon Sword - Factory Level

There were dozens of Rippers, NMX Nekovalkyrja, and other minions streaming into the Dragon Sword's huge factory deck, and the only way forward to regain control of the ship was to some make it to the other end. As the team saw the enemies trying to obliterate them, Cassie began tossing out loaded NMX-made bazookas to everyone, and draped herself with four of them.

"See if you can find some shields or something to use as cover," Cassie said. "Poppy, can you reverse this conveyor belt to move us forward?"

Yoshiro took one of the bazookas and armed it to use against the NMX. He goes to find the shield to use as cover. "Time for you to die, NMX scum. You will pay for the things you have done to our people!" He shouted and fired his SMGs and slashed out with his sword.

Erika was right behind Yoshiro, crossing the deck with an ICS powered slide. She threw her hand into the crate and picked up one of the rocket tubes. Her AIES listed launching instrcutions; rotate sight, flick arm, point and shoot. She picked her own target and called out "Clear Back!" before she was engulfed by a cloud of smoke as the rocket was sent at one of the rippers.

The Ripper was knocked off its feet in a fiery explosion, falling back with a smoking hole in its chest. The resulting smoke made it harder for them to see other enemies, but the enemies had a hard time seeing them in this fog of war as well.

Chiheisen had rather gladly taken one of the shiny new NMX Bazookas that Cassie was handing out, clipping it onto her back for later use. It was a little ironic to her, finally they had a chance to use some Mishhuvurthyar equipment against their makers, like they had been doing to Yamatai for so long. The Elysian sharpshooter continued to lay down fire, targetting the Rippers specifically with her LATR, or at least what she thought were the Rippers, the smoke obstructing her aim.

Yayoi prepared herself for the battle ahead of her, as she observed the others of the crew before she pointed her Aetheric Pulse Cannons at the rippers. She also caught the bazooka, ready to test the new weapon out as well.

A teleporter flash behind the heralded the arrival of a new away team member. The fresh-faced Judah, a Santo Hei medic they picked up on the YSS Battle of Yamatai. 15 second later, Judah's teleporter teleported back to the ship without him, returning like a boomerang.

"Nice of you to join us," Poppy yelled on the away team channel, as she connected her communicator to a control panel on the wall and let Resurgence's MEGAMI hack the conveyor belt controls by pretending it was the Dragon Sword's MEGAMI system. Suddenly the conveyor belt full of guns and equipment reversed and began moving towards the far end of the factory where they needed to go.

As Judah got teleported in he took a quick glance around his surrondings, a very confused look appeared on his face as the chaos continued aall round him. He quickly ran to some cover. "Glad to be here!"

"We need to get to that set of maintenance tunnels!" Mineko called back to those on the conveyer belt alongside her.

Yayoi observed Judah's appearance and noted the insignia, no doubt he'd be working with Poppy and her daughter, she hoped he could handle the mission. She took the lead forward to the next part of the mission.

Erika took another two tubes and slung them over her back before taking a third into her arms. One of her shoulder mounted SMGs was folded back, where she rested the tube and armed the device. She then used her ICS to jump over the smoke and take another shot while her still active SMG continued to fire on the enemy. Once again she was engulfed as the hiss of another rocket motor reverberated around the factory floor.

Yoshiro checked behind him and made sure his backblast area before he fired. He locked on to a Ripper and fired the bazooka and swung the empty tube at a Ripper that got too close to him. "Get wrecked you stupid piece of slimy shit!"Yoshiro said with a grin on his face. He grabbed a couple of new rocket tubes and handed them to his compatriots.

Cassie helped Yoshiro drag a bunch of heavy armored hard cases on the the large conveyor belt, creating a moving bunker for a few team members to take cover in as they rode towards the exit. "All aboard!" Cassie shouted as the box for began to move towards the Mishhu.

Poppy rushed forward with as many bazookas as she could drag and put them in the box fort. Piles of NMX Impaler particle rifles and NMX body armor were also on the conveyor belt and Poppy grabbed a extra flak jacket and put it on, and holstered her NSP for a particle beam rifle, handing off the bazookas to the infantry crew as they used theirs.

Chiheisen dove down behind one of the armored boxes, propping her rifle up on them, just peeking out of the makeshift fort. She continued to put down cover fire with her rifle, aiming to do as much damage as she could to the enemy, and if needed, keep them off of the other away team members.

Judah quickly ran from his current cover towards the makeshift armroed box fort, he crouched behind them as he checked to make sure he had all his gear with him, "So anyone wanna give me a quick rundown on whats happening here?" He spoke as he looked around at his feollow comrades.

Erika stayed in the air, hoping the extra protection of her barrier module would give her more freedom than normal. She drew a bit of fire when coming out of the smoke cloud, but that was less on the rest of the squad. She was engulfed by yet another plume of smoke before dropping the tube. "Crew is compromised by either parasites or infection, MEGAMI is offline." She said in answer to Judah "Shoot all Squids and Squid forces. If you want more detail than that you'll have to wait."

Mineko had hopped over a chainsaw but, seeing a Ripper between herself and the tunnels, she pulled hard on the mechanism that kept the revving machinery in place and held it like a long sword of spinning blades between her and the armor as she was brought towards her destination by the moving belt. Speedily approaching the Ripper, Mineko slashed at it with the improptu weapon as best she could, focusing her mind on how her upper body unwound into the strike and her feet stayed planted on the conveyed belt from which she could direct the power into her swing.

Yoshiro took an Impaler rifle and opened fire on a ripper, hitting it multiple times as he targeted some other Rippers as he reloaded his Impaler. "It's time to die, noob!" He said as he opened fire again against another Ripper. This Ripper basically exploded due to the amount of hits it took from the Impaler rifle. "YAHAHAHAHAHAHA! Take that you bastard!"

"Ay dios!" Hoshi Sanda said as she rushed after Poppy, protecting the doctor the best she could as the box for began to take fire as it moved down the gauntlet of enemies. The team members were firing out both sides and forward, mowing down NMX Nekovalkyrja infantry who were firing from behind the robot arms and fabricators. Explosions and particle beams and smoke mixed with sparks and arc welder flashes into some sort of lightshow from hell.

Judah let out a gulp as he pulled out his service pistol, peeking above the cover that he was using. He aimed at the closest enemy, pulling the trigger hoping his round hit the enemy!

Judah took a glancing blow to his right arm, as a Ripper's aether shot clipped his elbow, blackening it and making it flash yellow in his MINDY's HUD display. His hand felt weridly tingly and his skin burned but it was still usable.

Yoshiro saw Judah take a hit and ran over to help him. "You okay?" He asked Judah as he fired at the Rippers. "These guys just don't quit, do they?" Yoshiro used a shield to cover to let Judah get some cover. He took out the Ripper that had hit Judah.

Chiheisen noticed Judah getting hurt, noting it mentally. She reached to the side and pulled up one of the bazookas, popping back up from cover. With a flash and a trail of smoke, a 'dangerous projectile' was flung at the Ripper that had hit Judah, causing what could only be described as 'a lotta damage'. She ducked back down, glancing to the medic. "Use the cover."

Judah fell back from the hit, letting out a groan as he took a quick glace at his HUD display. Nodding in response to Yoshiro. "Im alright I think!" He moved his hand a little to check the pain and damage, letting out a wince as he moved it. "I'll live... and I did use the cover, they just had a better shot." He glanced towards her as he made sure he was behind cover fully.

Poppy struggled to keep the fort stable as it took hit after hit of explosions and aether blasts, using all of her strength to keep the boxes between them and the firing gallery.

Erika flew over the fort, exposed and relying on her Barrier Shield Module to absorb some of the fire away. Both SMGs on her shoulders were firing at the field of enemies while she used her carbine to take more accurate shots. She moved evasively, trying to extend the shield life.

A hail of fire met Erika, with enemies on all sidess really letting her have it. He shields plummeted in seconds and began to flash red on her HUD as an alarm tone sounded. Particle beams collideed with her Zesauium armor plating, and mini missiles exploded around her, sending a hail of shrapnel out. The worst, though, was she took a bad hit from an aether lance to her thigh, which penetrated and turned her thigh muscles into a hot mist.

Erika dropped like a fly falling to the round and landing on her back. She gritted her teeth with the pain, though still conscious enough to catch herself with her ICS before hitting the ground. what remained of her hit leg was dead weight.

"Wounded!" Erika called out, pulling her self out of the line of fire behind a piece of machinery, leaving a trail of blood behind her.

There wasn't much time between Erika falling to the ground of the fabrication bay and Mineko's armor hopping off of the conveyer belt and jettisoning towards her battle buddy and colleague. She propelled forward until she was picking up Erika even as the operative was shuffling herself, but only barely as her destination was nearby. Mineko had brought her the few feet until she was in Poppy's fort.

"Poppy, got one for you. Took an aether lance to the leg." Mineko told the medic, ready to fortify Poppy's safehouse for her if need be.

Erika groaned "I really want teleporter privileges back." She said with a pained chuckle "This 'still being there when they shoot at you' thing sucks."

As her CFS regenerated the operative rolled on her stomach and peaked out the side of the cover, taking accurate shots with her carbine.

"I can only agree," Mineko said, wishing instead that she could teleport Erika back to the ship. She herself brought her saber into her hands and followed the shots Erika was taking with her carbine to back them up.

"Be careful, these guys won't stop until we are all dead." Yoshiro said to Judah. A ripper tried to close in to hand to hand range but Yoshiro cut off its head and moved on to his next victim. He exploded another head with his Impaler and laughed as he did. "Oh that had to hurt! Get wrecked, you noob!" He shouted.

"Understood!" He switched his service pistol to his left hand as he did he best to lay down coverfire to support his comrades in the defense of their makeshift fort. His shots where a bit off since he was using his non dominat hand, many missing and a few finding a target.

A Ripper with an aether saber bum-rushed Yoshiro and, pushing aside the body of its brother, plunged its sword into Yoshiro's armor, damaging his belly area, which went red on the HUD. It kicked him away and tried to swing at his head next!

As the Ripper attempted a move on Yoshiro's head, it would find itself being targeted by the Elysian from the fort with her LATR in sniper mode. While not as dangerous as one of those bazookas, the rifle still packed plenty of a punch.

"Damn!" Yoshiro said as he stabbed the ripper, wounding it and watching it explode due to the Elysian's sniper shot. "Ugly son of a jackass!" He said as he kicked the corpse away.

"Tanaka-Heisho... Its already down, kick the living ones please" The Elysian commented, moving her aim to another of the stinkin' mishhu.

As the conveyor moved the team closer to their destination, the Mishhu forces were too busy tryign to kill them to figure out how to stop the conveyor, which continued to move them with KFY level reliability. The team was getting shot to hell and everyone was hit somehow but they were almost there. If they could just hold out a minute longer...

Suddenly the Mishhuvurthyar began taking fire from another Star Army fire team, which was coming out of a side tunnel. It was Colby Wando and team B! They were trying to draw some of the attention away. As the box fort moved past the B team, they waved and moved to keep enemies from coming up behind the main away team. "Wando to main team, we were here for the ST data but we thought you might need a hand so we took a detour from the medical lab."

Yoshiro nodded to the Elysian and shot at some more Rippers until he ran out of Impaler ammunition. He took down two more and he smiled as he got his team got help from Colby's fire team. "Good to see you, Wando. Great timing." He said to him over comms.

Judah notitced Yoshiro get stabbed, he quickly made his way over to them, his eyes looked over the the injury. "Are you alright?" He looked up for a second to make sure no one Rippers where near the two as he slid his pistol away.

"I am fine, Judah." Yoshiro said as he dropped his empty Impaler and took out one of his Aether smgs. He used the aether blade on the SMG to use along with his sword and impaled several Rippers.

Poppy went to inspect Erika. She could tell right away that it looked pretty nasty. She grabbed her hemosynth injector and basically flooded the wound with the artificual blood so it would cool the wound and start the process of regenerating the missing flesh. She had to use a bunch of tape and plastic seals (meant for lung wounds) to keep it from spilling out everywhere. She gave Erika a big dose of painkillers as well, but not one that would make her drowsy.

"Just quench the blood to stop the bleeding and seal the hole." Erika said between gritted teeth as she continued firing prone. "I can use ICS to ger arou- ow!" she yelped as she was injected with painkillers, followed by a much more relaxed "Oh, hello."

"Feeling better, I take it?" Mineko asked as she looked behind her to Poppy and Erika. She had taken up a more defensive position, but was getting back on her feet and asked, "We gotta keep moving, she good to?"

Chiheisen took a moment to glance over to the downed- and currently being treated Erika, sighing to herself. She went right back to shooting, watching as the conveyor propelled fort slowly got closer to their target vent. "We should get moving soon..."

He gave a quick nod to Yoshiro as he took a hold of service pistol again. "Glad to hear! It looked really bad but hey, these suits be wonderful protecting us." He moved back to his orignal position and laid down more cover fire.

Yoshiro smiled as he fired his smg at some Rippers and stabbed another with his katana and continued to help his team. "Time to destroy my enemies!" He said as he attacked the NMX.
He laughed as he continued attacking the enemies that were attacking them.

"Coming up on the maintenance tunnels you need now," Euikoshi warned them over the communications line.

Zanven was in the middle of reloading as the large room with equipment making him ready to control the area as well, but moving by fitting to the cockpit and defending it would be possibly an even worse moment to mess with. As he quickly made aim he made his shots, breathing softly as adrenaline hit him while he watched the others killing these bastards as well.

Cassie fired off bazooka after bazooka at enemies and at random equipment until the fire suppression system came on. "Use the smoke and water for cover," Cassie shouted! Go! Go!" she said, marking the path to the exit maintenance tunnel on everyone's nav hud. "Follow the line through! Don't leave anyone behind!"

Sanda and Poppy dragged Erika to the maintenance tunnel entrance. "Can you still move?" Poppy asked, looking at the ladder up to the next deck.

"Yeah yeah, I'm good." Erika said, her voice not nearly as pained as before. She became weightless in their arms as she began hovering in place. "You guys go, I'll be right behind you." She said, posting up next to the ladder.

Chiheisen provided as much fire as she could as the team made their way to the maintenance tunnel entrance. Once she got to it herself, she put her rifle back in its holster, slipping into the duct. Granted, it wasn't a comfortable fit for her. Curse those damned wings...

Judah closely followed Poppy and Sanda, laying down cover fire to protect them within the best of his abilities. Firing round after round at any enemies that approached them as they made their way to the maintenance tunnel.

With the upgrade to his route where he was able to see where he needed to head towards and after the last kill he gave he moved by backing towards the tunnel. He trusted the others that were heading there already in a way to protect his back. It was not the first time that he moved towards an exit tunnel with those ready to fight with him.

A tidal wave of firefighting foam began to cover all the remaining enemies, making it hard for them to see and shoot.

"Going up!" Cassie yelled, taking point and jetting up the maintenance ladder to the deck above them. "Hey, our friend's up here, the one with the 50 tentacles..." Cassie sent. "Need backu....urkkk!!"

"Right behind us, right?!" Mineko called to Erika as she followed Cassie. Perturbed by Cassie's discovery, she didn't convey as much in her tone as she simply started shooting her aether beam saber rifle the moment she made it to the deck above.

"Don't plan on STing today Cherub!" Erika said as her body shook from the recoil of her carbine. She then looked up at Mineko. "Sooner you get up there the sooner I'm out of the line of fire."

"Out of your way," Mineko said in between shots. "But the next gen Mishhu is up here too!"

"Have fun! Save a few shots for me." Erika replied

Chiheisen was next up the maintenance duct, her LATR once again equipped. She glanced back to the bazooka on her back, her eyes then locking back to the Enhanced Type. Perhaps it would come of use in the coming fight.

As the team began to emerge from the tunnel and into the next deck, they found themselves in a large room with a domed ceiling where the giant Enhanced-Type Mishhuvurthyar was floating in the center ready for the boss battle, with one tentacle wrapped around Cassie's neck as the armored anthro struggled to free herself.

The Elysian's LATR was aimed towards and shooting at the tentacle currently strangling Cassies Mindy, with the birb gritting her teeth under her helmet. She aimed towards where the tentacle originated from, instead of shooting directly at Cassie, to avoid hitting the Heisho. "Let her go!", Chichi grunted out...

Catching up he saw the creature with 50 tentacles that were reaching out and making their visit and coming to take over the issue he sighed and turned and caught sight. Quick to turn and assault he aimed under the ridiculous creature and whatever it used to envision the area. "C'mon you faulty motherfucker! Time to end your bullshit!" He said while he moved with higher energy, he moved to the tentacle after a quick reload to try and free his fellow shipmates.

After a few shots Chi was able to hit the moving tentacle and Cassie fell to the floor, catching herself awkward with antigrav just before she hit the ground.

The Enhanced Mishhu pulled out two of the biggest guns the armor team had ever seen, some sort of giant Mishhu-scale particle railguns. "TIME FOR YOU TO GET REKT AGAIN," it bellowed telepathically. "YOU GOT AWAY LAST TIME BUT IT ENDS FOR YOU HERE. I, SHRAFLARLKRU, WILL MAKE LITTLE TROPHIES FROM YOUR BODIES." As the Mishhu spoke, it raised into the air, and dropped long tentacles into the floor, which began rising from spots in the floor around them.

Chiheisen swapped her weaponry as she got flashbacks to the previous mission, and just how close they had been to losing the resurgence. As the Mishhuvurthyar monologued, she quickly changed to the Bazooka she had clipped to her back, when they were fighting in the conveyor, She aimed at the enhanced type, yelling out. "KEEP MONOLOGUING, WHY DONT YOU!" as she squeezed the trigger.

Poppy screamed as a jagged tentacle burst out of the floor plating and grabbed her left leg, viciously trying to yank her into the subfloor.

Judah climbed up to see what was going on even, As he made his way up, he saw the Enhanced Mishhu with the weapons, Stun locked he blinked a few times at it, he never saw something like that before, hearing the scream he quickly pulled out his service pistol and shot at the tentacle near Poppy.

The rocket exploded in the Mishhu's face, causing it to recoil. A gaping hole was left behind, but it quickly filled with an orange liquid and began to heal and regenerate immediately. Poppy looked up at Judah with pain her eyes as she pulled the severed tentacle tip from her bloodied leg. "Thanks," she managed to say.

"So how are we gonna do this?" Cassie asked the others, her voice raspy.

YSS Dragon Sword - Shraflarlkru's Boss Room

As the smoke cleared from the bazooka rocket, the Resurgence's resident birb sighed as she saw the gaping hole her attack left behind on the Enhanced Type Mishhuvurthyar. The sense of relief only lasted momentarily, as the horrifying monster began to quickly heal up its wound once more. Chiheisen grunted and swapped back to her rifle, tossing the now useless NMX bazooka to the side. The Elysian took aim at Shraflarlkru's particle railguns and began to fire at them, with the purpose of disarming it from those.. quite frankly worryingly large weapons, taking advantage of what seemed to be a moment where the Mishhuvurthyar seemed to be stunned. She yelled out, hoping the rest of the team would join in on the attack.

"Somebody throw a grenade or something into that big wound before it closes!". Chiheisen hoped some more explosives would outpace the Mishhuvurthyar's healing. She'd never faced one in real combat before... Regardless, her focus remained on disabling the particle railguns to prevent them from causing any catastrophic damage.

Dragon Sword -- Boss level

Sanda had stuck close to Poppy during the fight in the factory. She wanted to rush forward and get in close but she knew that would be suicide for her in her condition. She just wasn't at 100%. Still, she gave a good account of herself. She was like a tank, soaking up damage with her boarding shield and giving it back with interest. When Erika had gone down the Ranger had stood over her roommate while Poppy tended to her.

By the time they had reached the other side, Sanda was forced to ditch her boarding shield. The thing looked like a piece of wet cardboard that a kid and cut holes in. Her shoulder gauss cannon was down to 25% ammo. She paused for a moment beside the latter leading up, waiting for her turn to climb up into the room above. She ran a quick check on her Daisy. A few hits, but not enough to slow her down. She drew her SiZi plasma revolver and changed to loads in it for the heavy rounds before attaching her bayonet to the end of her rifle. Once her turn came, she quickly headed up the latter and into a nightmare.

Sanda began firing at the monstrous Mishhu as soon as she reached the level. She could feel her heart rate start to rise and her grip on her rifle tighten in fear. "No. No. No otra vez." Sanda said as she forced her breathing to stay regular.

The tattooed Ranger shifted to the right, not wanting to bunch up with the others as she opened up with everything she had. When the tentacles came up through the floor Sanda screamed and slashed at the nearest one with her bayonet. She hacked it to pieces, but didn't see another one come flying at her. The tentacle hit her and sent her flying against the wall with such force that her body was wedged upright against the wall for a moment before she fell to the ground. Her helmet visor was cracked and she was knocked unconscious.

How long she was out Sanda wasn't sure. She could hear Poppy screaming as a tentacle impaled itself in her leg. She heard, and felt, the expulsion of Chichi's bazooka. Sanda shakily got to her hands and knees under her and looked around. There was an imprint of her in the wall next to her. Several heavy wires had been broken and were arcing with power. Sanda reached a hand to the wall and slowly got to her feet. She was suddenly jerked to the floor as another tentacle wrapped around her leg and began dragging her. Luckily, the lightning tattooed woman had reflexively grabbed onto one of the heavy power cables as she fell. Part of it came with her, arcing and sparking. With all her might, Sanda pulled the tentacle closer and jabbed it with the cable. The power used to keep the different ship components running went right into the Mishhu body.

As he entered the last room by coming up the maintenance duct with the others he was breathing a little hard as some of the others were as well. Once in the next area with the rest of the team, he looked at the remaining resources he had left and was quick to find out that he was running out of ammo, but he did not stop with his cover to the back. โ€œCโ€™mon up here you sons of bitches, there will not be a fucking end I promise!โ€ He said in an anger-sounding audio of voice, however, the breathing was starting to become more and more in how he remembered the times he had had to help with flying more than with being on the terrain in armor, especially when the fire suppression system was turned on as other things were exploded with the next room being shown what was awaiting them now with them. The audio channels could be heard as the crew continued to talk, some offered a few dormant plans, but overall Zanven watched as none of the smaller now enemy crew against them moved toward them.

โ€œHey the shitheads we were fighting before are no longer moving towards us, but I bet there is a bigger target practice that was not affected by what we have done...of course, a living bastard seems to keep them fromโ€ฆI could bring the ship over if there is a way to get a damn door open...or something of course. It will be for me of course so that I can have a way to cut through all this shit...or a way to aim if we have a bigger target hereโ€ฆit is a bigger issue of course, but I will be in here as well. So I gotta ask even though we are in another planned suit of action already, what the hell do we want to do?โ€ Zanven said with a sound in his voice that sounded more like he was running short on time and rather how he could or would help fulfill the area of planning and finishing off whatever was causing them a big issue. Now that they all made it up. He waited for an answer...but there was something that quickly was giving them all an even greater issue.

The Mishhu swept across the team with its powerful, starfighter type particle railguns, spraying a hellish stream of bright orange bolts out like a fountain of death, hitting several of them as they were embattled with the floor tentacles. Cassie screamed in agony as the hits knocked out her shields and pierced her in the belly and hips area. She vomited inside of her helmet from the impact and pressure, making it hard to breath. Zanven was hit in the front of his armor but his shields took most of the impact, leaving him on the floor smoldering. Then Shraflarlkru saw Chiheisen, instantly realized what she was doing, and began focusing both weapons on her, shooting her armor up pretty bad. He was about to finish her off when he was violently shocked by Sanda poking him with an electrical cable. He withdrew his tentacles and momentarily dropped one of the giant weapons, which clattered to the deck. When this happened Poppy shouted, "Judah, help Chiheisen, I've got Cassie," she said, rushing to her dear friend and helping he the best she could. "Mineko or someone, can you steal his gun for us?"

YSS Dragon Sword - Shraflarlkru's Boss Room
The Elysian's eyes widened under her Mindy's helmet as everything seemed to slow, staring down the barrel of one of the Enhanced Type's rather oversized weapons. She attempted to dodge- but it was far too late. Chiheisen's shriek was cut off by the overwhelming force of the railgun rounds slamming into her body, forcing all the air out of her lungs. The birb was sent flying into the wall behind, crashing into the panneling quite spectacularly, and unceremoniously falling back forwards onto the ground. Everything ached, but the adrenaline enhanced Elysian attempted to get back on her feet, shaking. Unfortunately for her, and likely to the amusement of the enhanced type, the metal panel she had hit had come loose, and flopped onto the Elysians back as she tried to stand, pinning her onto the floor. She let out a pained groan, laying there pitifully as her heads up display showed her status, most of her body either marked as yellow or red.

The Mindy's system informed the Elysian... "Multiple severe injuries detected, several broken ribs, both broken wings, broken leg, severe bruising. Medical Assistance recommended"

Chiheisen let out a pained groan as she spat out some blood, mumbling to herself... "...Yeah... I detected that too..."

At the bottom of the ladder Erika held her position a little longer as she waited for the rest of the team to finish ascending, taking a few shots through the smoke, her targeting assisted by a data-link between her and the B team still in combat the other side of the factory. Once the ladder was clear she slung her carbine and grabbed the last rocket launcher on her back. Looking up she saw the battle unfolding through the bulkheads above as she used her ICS to stand upright.

The operative took a moment before using her ICS to shoot up the length of the ladder tube. Before she had eyes on the Misshuvuthar she'd already picked her target, and the rocket fired from its tube at one of the rail guns.

"Cherub," Erika said as she began falling into the smoke plume from the shot "Any chance you can get the MEGAMI on line if we keep this thing distracted?"

She slung the missile tube in the direction of the Misshu too as she continued to fall, catching herself before she hit the deck with her ICS.

A hit in the stomach of his armor caused him to be knocked to the floor and smoke rose from him as the others started to move. "Son of a..." He said before wincing and coughing a moment as the others picked up their movement now as they were commanded to help the others and continue the fight. "Well, don't forget me now." He said as he started to make his way back to standing he noticed his main gun had fallen away...well KNOCKED away, not just fallen and he only had a piece of armament for fighting personally or through a close combat.

The pain in his stomach was rather shitty of course, but he didn't complain, his armor DID buzz a little and there was a small steam from where he was hit. He was able to pull out his Type 33 Service Pistol, and he started moving forward and quickly began to focus as his eyes started to focus. He started fighting back as he let loose some fire towards where they talked about firing already. "Son of a bitch, time to hopefully push your ass back with a fire in YOUR damn stomach!"

The tentacle released itself from Sanda's leg. Sanda scooted away from got her back against the wall. Her HUD was cracked and malfunctioning. She could feel blood running down her face, some of it getting into her eye which blurred her vision. She wanted to take her helmet off and wipe the blood away but knew that was a very bad idea. She looked around for her rifle and saw it lying nearby. Broken beyond use. Reaching out, Sanda grabbed the useless rifle and detached her bayonet from it before discarding it. Shakely, she managed to get to her feet and drew her SiZi.

Taking her bayonet in one hand she reversed her grip on it for even better defense and began opening up with her SiZi. The heavy rounds she had loaded into it earlier were designed to do damage to Power Armors. Hopefully it would do some major damage to this thing while it was stunned. While she fired, she radioed the Resurgence. "Thunder to Res. We've encountered a huge advanced type Mishhu. Have engaged with..."

There wasnโ€™t much any one person could do against the Enhanced and Mineko knew it. Her mind went over what she had been able to pick up from the SAINT report, at least the parts that had trickled down to her. But what was even around that could stop its regenerative abilities? What was around that would kill it and not ruin the computer systems they had been so eagerly attempting to reinstate? This entire ship was under a Mishhuvurthyar spell, it was insane to think there would be something perfectly of use to them here in this landscape that the enemy had warped to its own devices.

Maybe it was insane to think. Maybe all she had left to do was act. Some part of her training, the basic type that every soldier went through the mud and bled for, kicked in and she started moving. Faster than she had on the conveyer belt and faster than she had in the shuttle bay. She strafed as she fired her ABSR and sprinted towards downed allies, providing cover as Poppy worked on the fresh Elysian. It was then that she heard the medicโ€™s order and, with adrenaline already pumping through the hemosynth in her veins, Mineko was moving in a flash.

The weapon was heavy, though, and it made her body feel like it would snap as she tried to pick it up from where the power supply met the conducting rails. As she repositioned herself, some cerebral part of her was turned back on. Jumping the metaphorical hurdle that had been posed before it, assessing the bulky railgun with all of the drive that her body had exerted in the fight, her mind engaged back into the fight. Following her own brainโ€™s orders, she squatted down and gripped around the base of the barrel between her arms and against her abdomen. She lifted with her calves to straighten up more, able to hold the gun with some semblance of control. She aimed the rails at the target as it moved wildly, able to track it as she took a step one way and then would pivot her other foot as she continued to follow the monstrous Mishhuvurthyar. While an NH-33 could carry around 550 pounds, the railgun felt like it was almost double that and it was almost exceeding the limit of what Mineko could hold, let alone carry around if it were less cumbersome.

โ€œThe trigger, someone!โ€ she guffawed out like it was her dying breath, unable to let go of her double grip on the plasma railgun to stamp down on the huge arm-length mechanism.

YSS Dragon Sword - Shraflarlkru's Boss Room

"Ma'am!" Judah yelled out in response to Poppy as he made his way quickly to Chichi, Stopping in front of her, he looked over the huge metal panel that was laying on top of the poor Elysian. He squatted down as he placed his hands underneath the panel and carefully lifted it off her. Left hand grabbed his medical scanner from his bag and held it over her to check the extent of her injuries. He quietly read the results to himself that popped up on the scanner, Judah was genuinely surprised that she even survived that, slipping the scanner back into his bag, he made it so she couldn't move at all to prevent her from hurting anything else as he carefully moved out of danger from the insane monster.

YSS Dragon Sword - Shraflarlkru's Boss Room

Shraflarlkru, wincing a little from Zanven's shots, focused on at Mineko pointing the big gun up at it. Then it phased into a blurry glowing orange, causing their shots to harmlessly pass through its ghostly form. Its other huge weapon clattered to the deck as it couldn't be held anymore. As Shraflarlkru watched, its enslaved zombie minions rushed through the doorways and began to attack. There were dozens and dozens of zombies in Mindy suits or tattered, bloodstained Star Army uniforms, eager to rip and tear at the away team with rifles, bazookas, or bare hands. As Cassie's vomit-fulled Mindy helmet came off, she saw them rushing in and through her screams of pain she yelled "we got company!" Poppy, who was in the middle of treating Cassie, pulled out her NSP and began firing into the oncoming crowd of hostiles. The NSP was a powerful energy pistol, and when it hit a person or a zombie, it would rip off their arms or head from their torso. Bits of flying gibs began to rain down around the away team.

YSS Dragon Sword - Shraflarlkru's Boss Room
Sanda heard Mineko asking for held with the giant enemy weapon and had begun to move towards her when things hit the fan. The zombie infected crew of the Dragon Sword began poring into the room. Sanda raised her weapon to fire but couldn't fire. The Star Army uniforms made her hesitate. The images from Gashmere and having to gun down civilians flashed to the forefront of mind. Her nightmares were coming back to life. Sanda could feel herself beginning to panic and that scared her. Luckily for the Giretsu trained Ranger, her body's mussel memory and reacted while her brain was still trying to sort out what was happening to her. She fired her revolver at a Mindy that came at her and plunged her blade into the heart of the next one before ripping the blade back out. But she was quickly overwhelmed by the shear numbers.

Sanda was knocked the ground and lost her grip on her revolver. A Mindy stood over her with an aether sword. It came slashing down towards her head. Again her body moved faster than her mind and saved her life. She rolled onto her side one way, then the other avoiding the blade. She then pulled her feet up to herself and kicked out with both legs against Mindy's knee. There was a nauseating as the force of the kick broke the leg of the Mindy. Sanda was on her feet in an instant, her brain finally regaining control of itself. As the Mindy fell Sanda activated the plasma blade on her Daisy and jammed it up into its head.

She couldn't stop moving. There were zombies all over her. Sanda drew her backup NSP for it's ankle holster and began firing. The Ranger held her Straight Silver bade close to her, anything that got into striking range she slashed or stabbed without thought or mercy. When she wasn't stabbing, she was shooting. Already a pile of bodies were begging to pile up at her feet. She saw Chichi down and the new medic working on her and began to move towards them to provide cover but was tackled against the wall by a trio of the possessed crew. She could feel the red mist descending on her but she didn't fight it. She welcomed it. She let out blood curdling scream she fought back against her attackers. They tried to pin her arms, but Sanda's cybernetic right arm was stronger than all three of them. She caved the skull of zombie with her fist, then wrapped her arm all the way around the second and just about ripped the head off as she broke its neck. The last one fell to her blade.

Finally freed, Sanda recovered her NSP and moved to cover the medics and the wounded. Her the HUD on her Daisy was completely gone at this point but she still had a display on her cybernetic eye. It showed malfunctions all over her PA and a growing list of damage to her own body but she ignored it. She'd collapse when the mission was over, for now their were still enemy's to kill.

YSS Dragon Sword - Shraflarlkru's Boss Room

Chiheisen groaned as she was moved away from immediate danger by Judah. The Elysian had been immobilized after the field medic locked her armor in place, with its internals inflating to keep the Elysian with several broken bones from moving. She understood why, but it did not hurt any less. Chichi watched the fight from one of her NSB's which were still flying around her, thinking if there was anything else she could do, even from her immobilized state. Then she remembered something... granted, a stupid something, but still a something...

Erika had posted up behind some cover, not keen to loose any more limbs as she engaged the encroaching Zombies. She had seen this pattern before in video games, where the โ€œbossโ€ would summon โ€œadsโ€. The Mishhu need to touch grass the operative thought to herself as she fired her carbine.

The Caelisolans NSBs flew over to Erika, with one of them tapping on her helmet. The immobilized Elysian spoke through comms. "Gh.. Raven, do you have any T31PE on you..."

The tap on the helmet caused her to roll away, pulling her carbine up into the open air while the NSB hovered in front of her head like a fly.

โ€œAbout a satchelโ€™s worth. Why? Have an idea?โ€ Erika said up to the NSB before she linked the idea together. โ€œYou thinking we do what we did in the hostage simulation?โ€ she asked.

"Guilty as charged" Chichi grunted as her ribs sent another wave of aching through her nervous system, her other NSBs flying all the way over to the Nekovalkrja operative. "Figure we could coat them all in- grgh.. and send them flying into the Mishhu when it unphases, then detonate them..." She said in between heavy breaths, the drones stopping the usual buzzing around and lining up (almost) perfectly in front of Erika, ready to recieve their sacrificial coat of 'paint'

Erika took a brick of plastic explosives from her satchel and broke about a quarter of it off and began moulding it around the small device. "You don't sound too great Chi." The operative said as she was simultaneously programming the NSBs "Have you called for a medic?"

The restrained Elysian replied with a tiny groan, still immobilized on the ground. "Hai, Smith-Hei checked on me... I broke several bones-" She was cut off by another grunt, and perhaps a little inaudible curse slipping through her lips. "...So for now I've been immobilized. I cant just sit here and do nothing though...". Chichi kept her NSBs still in front of Erika, allowing her to get them all ready to kamikaze.

"We kill this thing and jump straight in the Hemotanks." Erika repiled with a distractied inflection as she put the remote detonator on the second device. She had already sent the first one ahead to hover within the body of the phased Mishhuvuthyar. "Just so you're aware, I'm sending them into the squid before it unphases, I've set up a subroutine to call them back for charging when they get low on energy. Just cycle them out."

It didn't take too long for Erika to have coated up 9 NSB's (Nodal Suicidal Bits) with T31PE, six belonging to Chiheisen, and three belonging to the operative. The immobilized Caelisolan was keeping them on stand-by, and hopefully out of reach of the zombies, after Erika had snuck the tiny drones into the phasing enemy. The second the Mishhuvurthyar stopped phasing they were ready to go boom on the Enhanced type.

"Don't get too close to the Mishhuvurthyar, the second it unphases we're blowing it up!". Chiheisen grunted through the comms, warning the rest of the team about the plan.

"Don't worry, I plan on keeping the rest of my limbs." Erika replied as she resumed her fire on the Zombies, control of the NSBs relegated to their programming.

YSS Dragon Sword - Boss Room

Hundreds of armed zombies tried to get into the room, coming at the Resurgence's away team in a steady flow.

Cassie looked up at Poppy and said, "Help me make some sort of defensive position," so the medic stopped treating her for a minute and, as they both were shooting Poppy stacked a bunch of armored corpses into a makeshift fighting position for Cassie to take cover behind, allowing the injured anthro cat to cover one of the entrances while the enemy's attacks mostly hit the Mindy armor of the dead people in front of her. "This is kind of metal," Cassie commented, spitting out some blood before putting her Mindy helmet back on her head for safety. It still reeked of vomit but it was better than dying here on the stack of bodies.

Chiheisen remained on the ground behind the newly set up cover. The Immobilized Elysian ached all over, but remained focused on the Mishhuvurthyar for the time being, waiting for the damned thing to stop phasing to detonate the now plastic-explosive covered NSBs. They kept cycling back to recharge from her CFS whenever needed...

Cheilith was moving quickly and dynamically, using her sword to carve through the zombies and defend Cassie and Poppy who were setting up the defensive position. She had a crown of Nodal Support Bits that fed off of her armor's combined field system that were helping to provide fire on the swarm of zombies.

With the the flood of zombie reinforcements flowing into the room like water from a hose Sanda became cut off from the rest of her team. That didn't seem to faze her however. She was too far gone at this point. The 'red mist' had descended on her and she was lost to the battle. Her only thought was to kill and destroy. She had at some point recovered her revolver and had it safely tucked into her hoster while fighting with her NSP in one hand and her Straight Silver bayonet in the other. The NSP had a much faster rate of fire which was needed for the number of enemies the Ranger had to kill.

The operative lay prone on the ground, the SMG mounts on either shoulder extended and firing into the opening, swiveling slightly upon gimballed mounts to fire accurately upon the infected horde while the carbine in her had gave an occasional rapport as she lined up a critical shot. Now that she wasn't completely exposed the Barrier Field did a better job of deflecting the occasional on target response. Fortunate, as Erika couldn't move much while she acted as the recharge point for the explosive clad NSBs.

"Don't get hit again, okay?!" Mineko told Erika. For her part in the fight, Mineko had taken up a position in front of Erika but out of the operative's weapon's fire. For now, her Mindy could stand to take some of the fire the zombies were directing to Erika.

"You know, when I took officer training," Poppy mentioned, "They told us to avoid getting caught in kill-zones. I feel like this is one of those kill-zones the enemy prepared for us! Maybe we should consider a change of venue?" Just then she saw Judah get knocked unconscious by enemy fire. "Shit!" said, risking herself to run and drag him to safety behind the makeshift cover. "New kid's out cold," she informed the team.

Yayoi nodded her head to Cassie. "agreed." she said all the while not liking this at all.

Cassie just kept shooting zombie after zombie, keeping an eye on the heat monitors of her weapons. "Remind me what the plan is..." Her body hurt so badly it was hard to think, but she had to set that aside for later.

"We have to get to the computer room," Mineko said, looking to Poppy. "We needed to ascend that maintenance hatch we just came up to get to it. Either this room has been repurposed by the mishhu to be both a computer room and the enhanced's play room or we need to keep going up!"

"Euikoshi, send Mineko the map again," Poppy transmitted. Mineko got a copy of the deck plans from the Resurgence's MEGAMI that showed the fastest route as a glowing blue line of chevrons on her HUD. It looked like she was right. There was one problem, though, which was the phasing Mishhu could follow them up through the decks.

Yoshiro fired at the zombies, trying to help his friends and fellow shipmates. "You Mishhu are gonna get hurt for this!" He said to himself. "I will crush you all by myself and I will send your entrails to hell to feed the demons!"

"Okay, we should be able to go up another deck if we can find an access tunnel," Mineko said, omitting the terrifying possibility of the Enhanced meeting them where they went.

"What do we do about the..gh- Phasing mess of sand over there?" Chiheisen grunted from her spot on the floor.

"The quicker we get the ship MEGAMI up and running, the sooner it can help us fight it," Mineko replied assuredly. "Can your Mindy fly? We have to keep moving!"

"I think so..." Chiheisen fiddled with her controls for a bit, before floating a little off the ground. She was a little slow and clumsy in her movement, granted how she couldnt move her body. The Elysian just looked like a frozen mannequin trying to hover in place... She kept the NSBs close by for now, given how they might need to start moving.

Shraflarlkru laughed, "HU HU HU! Look at you! Another one falls! Perhaps you should beg for your lives! I am sure I could find some use for you," it said with amusement. "Well, some of you."

"Find a use for this!" Cheilith shouted back, shooting her shoulder mounted gauss cannon at Shraflarlkru.

"No one in our team is going to beg for mercy, you huffy little windbag! We beat you before in battle and we'll beat you again, you slimy little fuck!" Yoshiro shouted. Shooting at Shraflarlku with Aether SMGs. "Try me ya little bastard and see what I can do to you. Your zombies can fuck off and die also!" Yoshiro stabbed some zombies that got too close with his katana.

Shraflarlkru visibly shrugged at Yoshiro, using its tentacles, as the weapons fire slammed into the wall behind it. It remained phased and let its zombies do the dirty work.

Sanda slashed with her knife at a throat then punched the leg of the next one she came to with such force it shattered its femur. Raising her NSP she fired point blank range at the closest zombies, literally blowing their heads off. The Ranger didn't pause to admire her work, another one had leaped onto her back. She grabbed the arm that was around her throat and heaved. The zombie when flying over her shoulder and crashed into two other zombies charging her.

Yayoi aimed her Aetheric Pulse Cannon at Shraflarlkru and attempted to fire one at them

Mineko strafed away from the weapons fire of one of the armored zombies, not engaging in combat but not about to get downed by it either. She was looking for the access panel to the next room above them or a junction. Anything to get them away from this hoard of zombies and into the computer room.

Given how she was a useless floating Mannequin, Chiheisen did her best so scan visually for an access point to the next room as well. She wasn't going to be doing any fighting any time soon, given her injuries and the fact that her LATR was a molten piece of scrap on the ground.

An aether blade began to emerge from the overhead bulkhead, beginning to slowly cut a circular hole in the ceiling above the "boss room." A second one joined it from the other side of the circle.

"FRIENDLY?!!" Mineko called out over speakers towards the aether blades cutting holes in the ceiling.

Yoshiro looked up and aimed his SMGs up in to the holes but recognized the friendlies. He turned his attention back to the "Boss". "Hey Mishhu bastard, why don't you show yourself so we can play with you and destroy you!" Yoshiro shouted.

"It's Wando," Colby said. "We got the ST backups from the medical lab! And we brought you medical kits from there. We're trying to make an exit for y'all. I don't know how to get in the MEGAMI room so don't die."

"TEAM!" Mineko yelled to those fighting the zombies below."Get up here! Colby, that's spectacular news. Probably just about the only good thing we have going for us right now. We'll patch the new Elysian up, if possible, and re-administer aid to Sanda."

"Really think it might be a better idea to get the wounded out, those still fighting stay, and you go for the MEGAMI." Erika said between gritted teeth as her body shuddered from the recoil of 3 weapons systems.

"You're right. We need teleporter units to our position if we're going to get the wounded out!" Mineko said to the first few statements. She wanted to keep directing the flow of battle to move the wounded, but the team commanders should make those calls.

Cheilith disengaged from the Zombies, flying upwards to retreat from the trap the team had found themselves in.

As the sparks rained down from the cutting in the ceiling, Shraflarlkru looked up and said, "what is this shit," and began to float up through the ceiling to look at the B team.

"Oh shit!" Colby shouted suddenly.

Cheilith stuck her sword in the phased Mishhu. "Don't worry, if he unphases so he can actually do something, he'll get a sword in the gut."

Erika floated up, staying close enough for the NSBs to complete an orbit and recharge. She positioned herself to use the opaque mass of the Mishhuvuthar as concealment while she used networked targeting to continue firing on the zombies, concentrating on cutting down the few in front of Sanda. "Dephase already you coward." the Operative said silently to her self.

Chiheisen's eyes widened a little as she saw the Mishhu float up. She grunted, holding her own 6 NSBs around her. "Crap..."

The Mishhuvurthyar disappeared, leaving the team with the zombie horde, which was beginning to slow down finally. A bunch of screaming came over the radio as the B team got attacked.

"Team commander, we have to retake the ship and get our wounded out," Mineko said succinctly. "Who's fit to fight enough to go up to the computer room?"

"I'll go with you, Mineko. " Yoshiro said

"Okay." she replied. "You need to call in request for teleporters, Yoshiro!"

"I'm up for it." Cheilith responded, disappointed Shraflarlkru hadn't turned himself into a shishkabob.

"We have to withdraw to save the ST data," Colby told Mineko, "I'm sorry." He finished cutting the hole open and then him and the survivors of B team made a run for it, leaivng the medical supplies behind for A team. "Kill that thing for me, okay?" he said, hating the fact that he had to leave. But thousands of lives were at stake.

"Joto heisho Yoshiro Tanaka to Resurgence. Requesting teleporters for away team." Yoshiro said over comms. He was also covering the door, making sure no more zombies came through, shooting anything that came through.

The only noise coming from Sanda were snarls and grunts as she continued killing without thought. There was litteraly a mound of bodies around her that other Zombies had to climb over to get to her. She had had to change the charge in her NSP twice.

Yayoi moved towards Sanda, though proud and admiring of Sanda's abilities, she knew it was time to go. "Sanda, time to go, now!" she shouted to her, as she attempted grab around her waist. Sanda could keep shooting if she wanted to but Yayoi wanted to get her out of there.

Sanda wasn't thinking clearly. She was too hyped up on adrenaline that she lashed out at anything that got close, even her ailies. As Yayoi went to grab her hermana, Sanda lashed out with her knife, snarling as she did so.

"Oh, maldita loca Valquiria" Yayoi snarled in Sanda's heart language hoping that it gets to her as she was slashed with the knife.

Mineko handed off the medical supplies Colby Wando had given them to Poppy.

Shraflarlkru floated back down, "Looks like your friends chickened out," it laughed, unphasing and grabbing its two huge weapons from the mountains of dead bodies now filling the "boss room." Its tentacles plunged into the floor like before and they began to sprout up from below again, pushing floor panels aside and grabbing people's legs. Naturally it grabbed Poppy first because you always go after the enemy team's healer.

"Finally." Cheilith said, jumping back down into the boss room to drive her sword into Shraflarlkru's back.

"ERIKA, NOW" Chiheisen yelled out to the operative as she watched the Mishhuvurthyar unphase. She let out a shriek as one of her legs was tugged down by a tentacle, before sending the remaining other NSBs closer to the Mishhuvurthyar, ready to follow up on Erika's next move.

The operative gave a mental command to the 2 NSBs hovering, now trapped within the Mishhuvuthyars mass. The detonations came one after the other, their bangs dulled to low thuds as all their energy was absorbed by the squid. She held off on detonating the others, hoping for a cavity to form in which to send them.

"No one is chickening out, slimy little dumbass." Yoshiro said to the Ripper as he slashed at the tentacles. "Sanda, time to go right now!" He said as he grabbed Sanda and took her away.

Medical kits tumbling out of both of their hands, Mineko moved forward to grab ahold of Poppy. It wasn't much to simply grab her hand, but it was instinctual and all Mineko did in the moment that she saw the tendril lift from the ground and wrap around the medic.

Despite Yoshiro's good intentions, Sanda was too hyped up to be grabbed by anyone. Zombies had just been all over her and she was very jumpy. As Yoshiro placed his hand on her Sanda spun around and knocked Yoshiro's hand away fired at him with her NSP.

"Sanda, stand down! It's me, Yoshiro! Calm down and listen!" He shouted

A huge chunk of the Mishhu blew off the side of it and the creature's orange-red blood was sprayed all over the room. Suddenly there was a deathly silence as the shooting stopped and the last of the zombies fell. Shraflarlkru's body began to phase again and it sunk into the deck below, disappearing from sight, looking in severely wounded condition.

"WHO'S THE COWARD NOW YOU OVERGROWN SQUID?" Erika said, breaking her normally professional composure. "COME BACK HERE, I'M HAVING CALIMARI TONIGHT!"

"Coward." Cheilith told Shraflarlkru as he disappeared again.

"Sanda, calm down or you are going to hurt someone!" Yoshiro said to get her attention.

Chiheisen's remaining NSB's returned to hover around her, the Elysian cracking a grin under her helmet as she watched the Enhanced Type retreat. She also yelled alongside Erika, for just a moment. "GET YOUR ASS BACK HERE YOU DAMNED SQUID"

Poppy shuddered as the tentacle fell away from her. After a second, she grabbed the hemosynth containers and medical kits the B team had provided and began to treat everyone's injuries with fresh supplies.

As silence descended onto the room Sanda stood in a fighting stance as her eyes jerked one way then the other. She was gasping for breath and if anyone was standing close enough to her they might have thought that she was crying. In fact she was. Behind her cracked helmet tears were running down her face, carving little canyons in the blood that was smeared all over her face.

Yayoi blinked as she felt discomfort as she listened to Sanda, and moved over to her, a little more cautiously. "sanda?' she asked

At the sound of her name, Sanda jerked her NSP around and aimed it at Yayoi. It shook a little but then remained steady. Her finger twiched but the battery was dead. It took her a moment to realize that it was empty. Her body instantly went through the practiced motions of removing the dead battery and putting in a fresh charge. But this time she didn't raise it. She just let her arms hang at her sides.

"Hermana, tรบ me conoces, escucha mi voz" Yayoi told her, and waited to see what she does next.

"Yo... yo... creo que quizรกs me excedรญ." Sanda shuttered a little bit.

Yayoi nodded her head "Si, Hermana, but i'm glad your back with us."

Erika panted, her NSBs pointing in all directions, ready to dive back into the creature if it showed its face again, then detonate if it decided to unphase. "Mineko, the MEGAMI." she said.

Mineko was already gone, up through the hole in the ceiling without looking back. "I'm finishing this," she had transmitted curtly.

"Yoshiro this is Resurgence, we can send Norita with some teleporters but then Aoba's going to have to explain his disobedience to Taisho Irim, are you sure you need them?" Kalena asked, sounding uneasy.

"Yes we need them here. My people need them to get out." Yoshiro said

"Sir," Erika said, opening a private channel to Yoshiro overhearing the comms. "Have them send over units with the 4003. They teleport in, take us out in groups of 3 and it minimizes their exposure to any psionic field. The chance of the enemy capturing a teleporter is negligible."

"Is it.. gh- wise? Assuming we can get the MEGAMI up and running, perhaps we wouldnt need them..." Chiheisen opined, gritting her teeth as the pain caught up to her once more, wincing.

"We need to get the 4003 so we can get out in groups of three. We can minimise our exposure to the Mishhu and we can get our wounded out safely." Yoshiro said to Kalena.

"Norita says we only have the standard Ke-M2-P3802 in stock," Kalena said.

"Tch!" Erika made a noise over the comms like she was audibly pouting.

"Roger that. Send it over and send Norita with them. Remind me to ask for some from supply when this mission is over." Yoshiro said.

"Yoshiro, the 3802 doesn't have the additional lift capacity of the extended backbacks. So they won't help." Cheilith noted.

"We can get out on foot sir." Erika added after a deep sigh. "With the MEGAMI on line we should be able to anticipate additional threats and redirect."

" Roger that, Chelilith. We get out on foot. Make sure that you keep your head on a swivel." Yoshiro said to the team. "

Erika looked to the broken bird hovering in the distance. "Chichi, you need a hand? Anyone else wounded needing assistance?" She asked even as one of her own legs was reduce to nothing more than a useless fleshy stump.

"I can sill float," Cassie said, floated from out of behind the 2 meter high stack of dead bodies, completely covered in blood. "Hey, anyone seen the litterbox around here? I gotta go."

"Sanda, you okay?" Yoshiro asked concerned. "You seemed pretty angry there. I am sorry about what I did but we didn't need anyone hurt by friendly fire."

"I believe i can manage..." Chiheisen sighed as she floated along carefully, trying not to bonk into anything. The thought of being put into a hemosynth tank finally was starting to sound really appealing to the pained birb...

Erika nodded, "I'll split the NSBs between us. I'll take 3, you take 4. You see that bastard come back have one float in its brain pan."

"I'll haul Judah," Poppy offered. "Hopefully he'll come to his senses soon. He just took a big hit to the dome."

Sanda muttered something in her mother tonge to Yoshiro that didn't make any sense, even to her. She was completely spent and for once in her live didn't care that she was showing weakness in front of her team. She carefully replaced her weapons in their holsters then placed her arm around Yayoi for support. Daisys don't float.

"You guys get going back to the ship. I promised Mineko I would help her out, unless you guys want to help." Yoshiro ordered "Otherwise get the wounded fixed up and back to the ship"

Yayoi held Sanda, then activated her thrusters lifting the two of them up to where they needed to go.

YSS Dragon Sword - Computer Room

They had traveled about halfway up the twenty deck ship on their way to the computer core, but Mineko still had a ways to go. With her wingpack alight behind her, she jettisoned up the internals faster than she had before when behind the rest of her team. Her eyes scanned her suit's AIES sensors as she looked for the feed that would indicate just a blip of power spike ahead of her.

"No wonder the transponder wasn't transmitting," Mineko said when she had finally gotten to the Super-Eikan class' computer rooms.

She tapped at terminals, but nothing was online. It looked like some technician had come into the MEGAMI room and severed all the power cables from the system's power supplies, then tried to torch the circuitry. Probably someone with a parasite. Wasn't the Nekovalkyrja and Minkan body supposed to prevent parasite infections these days? Clearly the Mishhuvurthyar threat had evolved.

Taking shaky breaths, Mineko tried to push the thoughts about what this next generation of Mishhu were doing to their older generation Yamataian bodies and focused on the ship and what she could do for it. Pushing a mass of severed cables aside, she found a hemosynthetic conduit access point for the charred circuit board just above it. Normally the ship would pump into the access panel through those cables to repair them, but the parasite-ridden crewmen had made sure that wasn't possible.

Cheilith wasn't sure if the Mishhu had left or not. So she followed Mineko with her sword drawn and her head on a swivel.

"Agh, got a plan," Mineko said grimly as she saw her team filtering in.

"Resurgence to away team, one of the Dragon Sword's shuttles just launched, is that you guys?" Kalena asked over comms.

"Negative, Res, full send on that target." Erika said quickly.

"It just went into hyperspace," Kalena said. "We're tracking it but we're going to stay here until your team is back aboard."

Chichi had ony just about managed to make it up to the rest of the away team, floating a little precariously in her frozen position. Her NSBs kept following along, the Elysian gritting her teeth as she heard the news from regarding that shuttle. "I'm assuming that was that enhanced type perhaps..?" She said, half interrupted by a cough.

"Poppy, can you bring the hemo over here?" Mineko asked. "The console can't self-repair.

"Okay," Poppy nodded, gently placing Judah down outside the MEGAMI room door and going back to get some of the hemosynth supplies. "I'll have to configure it back from medical mode but there's controls around for it."

Mineko cut through the zipties that kept all of the severed cables together and held just the tube labeled HSCS-1 above her head, waiting patiently.

"It was probably the Mishhu leaving," Mineko said bleakly as she waited.

"That sounds like you won," Kalena said, trying to cheer Mineko up. "Resurgence 1, Mishhu 0."

"I'd say we broke even." Erika said with an exhale as she drifted over to Mineko. The NSBs continued to hover around her within her CFS. The operative hadn't let her guard down just yet.

"The first fleet lost a scout. Maybe the Resurgence won but the Star Army didn't." Mineko said.

"Coward." Cheilith said with a laugh.

"Elegante" Sanda muttered as Yayoi helped her into the room. Although it was hard to concentrate on anything, she felt like the Mishhu had made the right call. It had been wounded but would return with new knowledge of how to fight them. In fact, it seemed like the fact that it had decided to run instead of keep fighting like you would have expected a Mishhu to do showed that it more cunning and therefore more dangerous than an average mishhu. That should scare them more than anything. But Sanda was hardly able to put her thoughts into words at the moment so she remained silent.

Yoshiro arrived to help Mineko. "Hey Mineko do you need my help with anything?" He said.

After a few moments, Poppy gave the modified HS fluid containers to Mineko. "You sure this will work?" she said. "I've done surgery on people, but never a ship's computer."

"The ship is always doing surgery on itself through these things during combat," Mineko said as she dropped the fluid in and jimmied the cable so that it could flow towards the conduit system at the base of the terminal.

"Hey," Kalena told the team, "That shuttle went to where Cassie's old communicator was last seen. A possible Mishhu base?"

"Are we ready for that?" Mineko said as she looked from Sanda propped up on Yayoi to Erika's missing leg, then back to Cassie's vomit-stained fur. She looked back to the console and tapped it once.

"Its only a flesh wound." Erika said with a grin under her helmet. "It will grow back."

The computer system began to make gentle whirring and humming noises as it came back online, running once again.

"Inputting admin access codes now," Mineko said, hope edging into the dismal tone she had taken as her helmet and HUD was illuminated with data. "Let's get the MEGAMI restored ASAP. Who knows if we're going to have reinforcements from that Mishhu base."

Assuming that Mineko didn't need his help since he didn't or assumed he didn't get a response he watched what the others were doing and made sure they were okay while they were doing their things.

The MEGAMI took stock of the situation in a flash and immediately began cloning up Nekovalkyrja soldiers in the medical labs and selectively locking zombies in compartments to keep them from moving around the ship. Some of them ended up getting airlocked if they were near one. "SYSTEM ONLINE" the main control panel said. "Defenses active," it said in a calm voice.

"Yoshiro, let the captain know we've regained control of the ship!" Mineko said to the team commander as she put an arm around Erika's armored shoulders and swayed into the operative excitedly.

"Joto Heisho Tanaka to Resurgence, we have taken the YSS Dragon Sword, repeat we have taken the YSS Dragon."Yoshiro said.

Sanda slumped a little bit with relief as she heard that they had gotten the MEGAMI back online. She reached up to removed her cracked helmet but it slipped from her hands and clattered to the deck. Her face and hair were covered with blood. There were streaks in the blood where her tears had washed it away.

"Excellent work," Aoba's voice said. "Beryl is waiting for you in the shuttle bay, come home and enjoy some time in the onsen. You deserve it."

"Wilco." Yoshiro said over comms. "Mineko, get us to the Resurgence and rendezvous with the ship. We'll take a shuttle over."

"You got it," Mineko said, already heading out of the computer room.

"It's gonna be nice just taking the lift there instead of more of those damned ladders," Cassie said, looking at her teammates. She took her helmet off, too, and took a deep breath.

Chiheisen sighed as she watched the MEGAMI come back to life. She really wanted to take off her own helmet but she couldn't due to obvious reasons. For now, she was simply hoping this was the end of the action for the day.

YSS Resurgence - Shuttle Bay

After a few minutes, the bloodied and battered away team was back on the familiar decks of their home starship, the YSS Resurgence. Sakuko met them there along with a few of the B team members and helped them unload off Beryl's shuttle. They had survived! Now it was time to recover and process the nightmarish experience they had endured together. And they knew somewhere, somehow, they'd meet that Mishhuvurthyar again...

YSS Resurgence - Shuttle Bay

Back in the shuttle bay, he had stepped off of the transport shuttle once everyone was transferred off. A few pieces of his Power Armor that were fucked up caused a reading for his armor, but he did not immediately go to where the others were helped. He did not need it compared to the others, but he was watching the area and sighed as he was pissed, in another moment where his actual strength or mindset could be used or his tactical mind could have been helpful, but he remembered also being pissed while on the enemy ship.

He sat down on a crate and just shook his head before he pressed the exit button, the chest opened but a few sparks could be seen as a tech looked over and came over Zanven just nodded and the tech started to look over everything. Zanven just gave a shake of his head before stepping away, he was now just heading to deliver a report of the mission, and then he was going to head up to his room so he could do some more look up and the cameras of the other power armor once everything was uploaded.

YSS Resurgence - Medical Lab

After everyone was hosed down and scrubbed to get the blood off, many of the away team members found themselves in the medical lab. Dr. Poppy was there, and Judah (who was recovering on a bed), as well as caretaker, Julia Meadows on medical assistant detail. It was good to be back aboard the Resurgence, which felt safe, and familiar.

Poppy's hair was still wet after a quick shower, and she was dressed in loose-fitting disposable scrubs. She went around making sure everyone was healing up okay.

Chiheisen was laying on one of several occupied beds inside the medical bay. The Elysian's injuries were still healing, mainly her broken wings and leg, and some little bits of bruising that still remained, held in place by splints to prevent them from moving too much as they healed. Nevertheless, she was miles more comfortable laying on that bed than she had been in the locked up Mindy. Chichi gave Poppy a small nod of acknowledgement as she passed nearby, reaching up to undo her hair, which had been tied up in a halo braid for convenience.

"How are you feeling?" Poppy asked Chiheisen. "Are you comfortable?" she asked, putting her hand on the Elysian's forehead, then briefly checking her heart-rate with two fingers on her neck. "How about your stress level?"

"Better now, i suppose... At least i no longer feel like I've been run over" Chiheisen slightly nodded as Poppy checked her vitals, carefully laying her hands back on the medical bed. Her hair had been unleashed from the halo braid, and it had immediately become all tangled up, with some strands falling onto her face. The Elysian made an attempt to blow them off to the side... no wonder she always had it tied up, it was a mess.

"Ah... Given how we aren't surrounded by zombies... alright i suppose?" The birb commented with a bit of hesitation, almost missing Poppy's last question.

"It's the grabbing that bothers me," Poppy said, "I get grabbed entirely too much by zombies and Mishhu tentacles, and each time it was a battle for survival. The war seems like it's really personal, don't you think? I mean that in the sense of that sometimes we just set back while ships shoot each other...but we've being doing a lot of in your face type fighting. That was especially true for me without a Mindy this mission. But the Exploration Uniform mostly did its job. I would use it again. It was SO nice to be out of the helmet. It's its best feature. I wasn't panicking over there but I wasn't in my comfort zone, that's for sure."

Chiheisen winced a little as Poppy mentioned the grabbing, perhaps momentarily reliving the time the Mishhuvurthyar yanked on her broken leg as they fought. She listened to Poppy go on, blowing at another strand of hair gently to get it off of her face. "Its been quite a struggle indeed.. its been a rather... interesting first mission." The fresh faced Elysian had definitely been thrown through the wringer on those first two away missions, her injury records did a good job of showing it.

Poppy reached out and gently caressed Chiheisen's hair out of her eyes and face so she wouldn't have to keep blowing at it, and gave the Elysian a smile. "And there's so much more to see, good and bad. But if you had to pick a crew to have alongside you, this is a good pick. I wouldn't chose any other assignment. In fact, I asked for this assignment because it's where I think I can make the most impact."

The Elysian's face flushed a little pink as the doctor caressed the hair out of her face, closing her eyes momentarily. Chiheisen usually preferred to forego physical contact, at least as much as she could. She didn't resist however, simply allowing Poppy to push the hair off. "Hai... I'm grateful for being deployed on the front lines, even if it means a lot of..." She glanced to her leg, then her wings, kind of motioning to them. "...this. Ultimately, I am content with serving."

"Me too," Poppy said. "I really enjoy being in a support role and being a healer. I've always been attracted to the idea of being able to help people and fix things that aren't working through the power of properly applied knowledge. And I find the body a fascinating puzzle to work with. Even as a kid I was really curious about how everything worked. So when I got a chance to become and medic and go to medical school I jumped for it. What about you?"

"Err..." Chiheisen seemed to hesitate, glancing towards the doctors prying, green eyes. She let out a small sigh, before continuing on. "My parents both served in the Star Army, and I simply followed in their footsteps. My father taught me a lot, especially after he retired from service. I suppose they.. inspired me to join" She admitted, her brow furrowing a little. "They served during... those wars, the other alternative wasn't very appealing."

"Oh, on the Star Army side of the Elysian Wars?"

"...Hai, they were both serving by then, I was born and raised on Yamatai" She nodded, the Elysian closing her eyes as she answered.

"So you were kind of caught between two worlds then," Poppy rubbed her chin. "It's not easy when you don't fit in. A lot of these Nekovalkyrja were born into the Star Army where they're designed to fit, but for people like you, sometimes you have to make your own niche, right? Life in the service is at least, somewhat reliable. Are you still close to your parents?"

"Essentially, yes. I don't care much about what others see in me due to being an Elysian however. I am here to serve, and if people have a problem with that, that's their issue." She sank a little on the pillow propping her head up, eyes still closed. "...Oh yeah- my parents still live in Yamatai..." She nodded, almost missing Poppy's last question again.

"Well, fuck the racists," Poppy smiled. "I don't think individual Elysians, especially someone young like you, are to blame for what out of touch leaders did for their own egos back in those days The only problem I've ever had with Elysians are their wings are always brushing my butt by accident in crowded elevators," she laughed. "But sometimes it's kind of nice. Anyway..."

Sanda opened her eyes and sat up too quickly. "Oooo." She moaned as she lay back down on the bed. Her wounds had been cleaned and patched up but everything still hurt. She took a moment to just let her mind process what was going on before slowly opening her eyes again. They felt a little sensitive to the light but she glanced around the room and saw Poppy and Chichi talking. Her mouth suddenly felt dry. "Any chance of getting some water?"

Chiheisen looked up from the pillow as Sanda spoke up, before glancing over to her water bottle, which was sitting next to the bed on a little medical table, among some other assorted... medical related things. "If you can get to it, I still haven't opened mine, Hoshi-Heisho. I cant exactly... get to it" She sighed, referring to the restraints she was on as her bones were healed.

Sanda looked at the water bottle on the bedside table. It was only a few feet away but it looked like a few miles the way she felt at the moment.

Julia, the ship's caretaker, came over and brought Sanda her water. "Let me know if there's anything else I can get you," she told Sanda.

"Gracious." Sanda said as she took a tentative sip and held the water in her mouth before swallowing, savoring the coolness. She waited a moment before taking another drink. Despite how thirsty she was she didn't want to guzzle the water in case her stomach couldn't handle it.

"How are you feeling, Sanda?" Poppy asked. "Physically and in terms of stress," she added, wondering what Sanda was experiencing after that hellish time in the captured starship.

Since her stomach didn't rebel, Sanda drank some more of the water. "I feel like I've been beat up pretty good." The tattooed woman rubbed her eyes and shuttered a moment. Her emotions were all over the place at the moment and she wasn't sure exactly how she felt.

"Would you like to talk to your husband about what happened?" Poppy offered, "I could arrange a call...if the ship has a connection out here in Concordia sector."

Tears suddenly came to Sanda's eyes. She had completely forgot she even had a husband. That made her long for his embrace. She just wanted to bury her face in his chest and be held by him while she sobbed. Like he had done on that international station when they had been on leave and attacked by those damn pack roaches. She sniffed and fought to get herself together. "Yeah that would be nice. I'd like to hear from him."

Julia put her hand over her mouth as she watched. She quietly stepped back and left to go get comfort food for everyone, visiting Julix and Rossa to gather ice cream and brownies.

Poppy nodded, "I'll see what I can do," she assured Sanda. "What about you Chiheisen? Will you want to tell your parents about you getting hurt?"

"I... I might also need to arrange a meeting with a counselor." Sanda admitted. Sanda had a tendency to bottle everything up inside her and not show any weakness. Nepleslian macho and all that. But even she had to admit that a lot of her problem the last mission had been due to her mental state of mind, not physical. If she wanted to continue to be the hard core bad ass ranger that she took so much pride in being than she needed to get her head right.

"I'll.. probably mention it the next time we call" She briefly responded to Poppy as she glanced towards Sanda, watching momentarily as the ranger wrestled to keep herself together. The Mishhuvurthyar had left quite the impact on her as well, but the Elysian was doing a better job at repressing it.. at least for now.

Sanda finished off her water and nodded to Chichi. "Thanks." She sniffed again and wiped her eyes. "So you've survived two missions on the Res now, eh nightingale? I think you have done good... for a rookie."

"I've got some counselor training but seeing a regular counselor means heading to a bigger ship or to a starbase," Poppy said. "I'm always willing to listen or put in a medical leave form for you if you need it. That goes for anyone."

Chiheisen hesitated in responding. "...Arigato, Hoshi-Heisho. I still require more experience..." She paused momentarily as she shifted on the bed, trying not to move her wings and leg.

Sanda shook her head. "I'd rather not leave the Res if I can help it. Maybe just having some conversations with you would be a good way to determine how much help I might actually need." Sanda managed to smile at Chichi. "You can me Sanda here and off duty Chiheisen. Save Hoshi-Heisho for on duty and in the field."

"...Understood, Sanda" She nodded a little bit to the Heisho, sinking back in her pillow.

"See? That wasn't so bad." Sanda chuckled as she also settled down back on her bed. She staired up at the ceiling. "I don't think we've seen the last of that Mishhu."

"There's enough cruelty in the world without that creature adding to it," Poppy said. "There's only one thing to do with him," she said, making a pistol out of her hands and making a gun sound effect not unlike the distinctive crack of the NSP.

Chiheisen furrowed her brow as she thought back on the enhanced type. "From what it said, it looks like it was the same one from before as well..." She gripped her fist a little, sighing. "If that thing starts a monologue again, I'm not letting it finish"

"I hope Erika and Mineko make a good report on him. He didn't act like most Mishhu I've encountered before, or have heard of for that matter. Most Mishhu don't flee when they've been hurt or beaten. They fight to the death, dealing as much damage as possible before their overwhelmed. This one showed... intelligence and long term goals." Sanda shook her head. "I'm beginning to worry that the Star Army isn't ready for this new Mishhu war. They have obviously been busy these last few years."

"If you think about it, we didn't see any other Mishhu on the YSS Dragon Sword. That one Mishhuvurthyar took down an entire ship," Poppy said. "It's highly concerning."

Sanda glanced over at Poppy. "Have you done a full scan on us since we've gotten back to the Res?" Sanda was a little concerned remembering how quickly Cheileth turned on them on the prior mission.

"Yes, and I haven't seen any sign of infection or parasites," Poppy assured them.

Sanda nodded, reassured. "Well, I guess you and Euikoshi will be busy analyzing all those infected Dragon Sword's crew. Hopefully you two will be able to learn something about how a whole ship could be infected so quickly."

"It's already being toward to a undisclosed secure SARA starbase I heard," Poppy told Sanda. "The fleet called in the big guns."

YSS Resurgence - Bridge
YE 46.1.6

The next morning, most of the injured crew were doing way better and everyone was back on their feet. Having completed their mission of defending Concordia Station, followed by the investigation of the crashed NMX ship, a struggled for the ship's survival against the rogue Mindy, a visit with the YSS Battle of Yamatai, and, the recapturing of the YSS Dragon Sword, it was time to head home. On the bridge, captain Aoba looked over his reports. He was sure they would be back soon to explore and unlock more of the mysteries of the Concordia Sector, but for now their place was to head back home with the rest of the First Fleet to the Kikyo Sector. It was a relief but also Aoba found himself thinking about how he, more than ever before, had a really solid crew he could rely on. Many of the gaps in the ranks had been filled, and the away team was incredibly tough.

"Set course for the wormhole," Aoba ordered.

"Aye aye, sir," Gabriela nodded.

"Take us home to the Kikyo Sector."
