[SAINT]Husk

Isn't this pretty close to Sprites which are being outlawed in YE 31 due to new anti-slavery laws

First and foremost it should be noted that using a Husk requires a written waiver stating that memories gained during use might be redacted in the future. Also, it could be argued that the Husk violates Yamataian law, however one important thing should be noted: Since the husk is never given a personality of its own, it isn't a person. Therefore it cannot be a citizen, leaving Yamataian law inapplicable in this case.

On the memory modification of the agents. The modification is legal since it's consentual (though without consent the Husk cannot be used).

On the issue I think you're getting at. It's almost like Sprites, except the Husk really is just an empty body. For instance, when a character dies, an empty body is created and an old backup applied. This is just like that, except the empty body is created for use during a mission. Then when the mission is done, the cover can be kept by just transferring different agents into the body, while still allowing them to come and go as necessary. The memories that are extracted from the agents are so that there is no need to completely relearn everything for agents.

This however doesn't change this one simple fact. The body cannot move or think or anything. It really is empty, until you insert an agent. Which is why it bypasses Yamataian law concerning this. Sprites could move, they could think, heck some even had personalities. Not so here. This literally is exactly like a backup body. If this were in violation of the law, restoring an ST backup of a person would be as well.

Ok, then the next obvious questions is where will these "Husks" be stored. To be really effective, there would have to be a central repository so that they can be used by other Operatives.

What the heck does "redacted" mean? I'm not at all familiar with it. Is it a typo maybe?

Redaction is a term in current use that is essentially synonymous with "sanitization" when it comes to intelligence. It's used frequently to refer to the blackening or editing out of text before some information is released. In this case, its memories that would be edited out.

Storage for each Husk would be relative to where it's being used, as well as whether or not it's still in use. For instance, an identity created as a black market contact might be stored near where it would be used (or in a central repository, possibly on a nearby SAINT ship even). However if say the Husk is serving as a mole in a company that SAINT is watching (most likely foreign, but possibly within Yamatai) then it will most likely not ever be stored. When Agents need to change, they'd come in and go through the process, and walk out a different person. Yes though, there probably is some kind of repository (perhaps instead of a single central repository, multiple repositories). I'm actually working on a storage container for these things.

Ok, just didn't see anything in the article that said where these husks were left when not needed. 8-)

Approved

Director Tange Misato of SAINT will definitely enjoy this new addition. good Work.
