SANDRA [SANDRA] Nepleslia Prime Refugee Dropoff Draws Yam Ire

Kyoto, Yamatai - The Yamataian Government expressed its strong disapproval today over the actions of Nepleslia's military, which is apparently dumping former UOC citizens, now Yamataians again, on Nepleslia Prime instead of the refugee towns in the Virginia system.

The 4th Nepleslian fleet, led by Rear Admiral Dominic Valken, is assisting the evacuation of the Tange system, which is currently part of Yamatai. However it has recently become clear that instead of moving the Yamataians to safer parts of Yamatai, the Nepleslians have outrageously decided to remove these people from their home nation and bring them into Nepleslia where they must find transportation back to the Yamataian on their own.

While Yamatai has spent billions on building homes for the former UOC population, Nepleslia has done nothing to create any temporary accommodations for people who have lost almost everything.

In response, the Yamataian government has bought hundreds of transport starliners from Origin Industries and is providing free transportation from Nepleslia Prime to Virginia and also providing free travel vouchers for the displaced Yamataians. These vouchers are available to anyone with UOC identification and can be redeemed for travel and starport food expenses up to 1000 DA.

"This is senseless," Premier Yuumi commented. "These transports would be much better used to help with evacuation of the former UOC instead of returning Yamataians from Nepleslia to Yamatai."

Update:

Nepleslia has stated its intention to stop the free Yamataian transports at the border, essentially closing all trade between the two nations and holding hostage Yamataian citizens.

Empress Himiko condemned the Nepleslian decision, saying that it was "inhumane."

A temporary order has been issued barring Nepleslian ships of any type except ships evacuating the former UOC from entering Yamataian space.

Update 2:

After some consideration and talks, Yamatai and Nepleslia agreed to unblock all traffic, allowing both trade and evacuation of the former UOC citizens to proceed normally. Since Yamataian transports will now be readily available to Jiyuuians wishing to utilize Yamataian temporary housing, the Yamataian government has withdrawn its complaint about Nepleslia Prime being used as a refugee dropoff point.

Empress Himiko, when asked about the developments, stated she was pleased and described Nepleslia as a "vital and well-meaning ally" in the fight against the NMX and said she was "pleased the issue was worked out quickly."
