SANDRA [SANDRA] Star Army Updates Contract Buyout Policy

Fort Minori, Nataria - The Star Army of Yamatai's personnel division announced today that it would has updated the policy regarding buyouts of enlistment contracts. The new policy removed the old flat rate of five thousand KS per year and replaces it with numbers equal to yearly pay. This change makes leaving the military early less expensive for ranks E2 and below and more expensive for ranks E3 and above, with the highest ranks costing nearly twenty times more.

You can read the new policy below:

Buyout Option

The Star Army of Yamatai understands that life circumstances may change and soldiers may have to leave the military, so it provides a way out of the contract. In the event a soldier needs to escape the contract, she can do so provided she can:
  1. Obtain permission from her unit commander or ship captain
  2. Obtain permission from Star Army Personnel (granted by default unless there is some outstanding reason)
  3. Pay off her remaining contract years
    1. Payment required is equal to remaining contract years, rounded up, times current annual base salary
    2. Payment must be paid in full at the time of leaving the military.
    3. In extenuating circumstances the payment can be reduced or waived by the commander of the Star Army of Yamatai.
The purpose of the change is to encourage retention amongst the higher ranks, as they are more difficult to replace than younger, less experienced soldiers, who can be replaced in months with newly-made Nekovalkyrja. In particular, the Star Army of Yamatai faces a shortage of NCOs and officers, caused by swelling personnel numbers in the Star Army's planetary operations force, the Legions, who are extremely "green" right now and lacking in combat experience and experience in general. In the last several months, Nekovalkyrja production facilities have been producing new Nekovalkyrja by the millions, working night and day around the clock to bring ground troop numbers up to parity with Nepleslia and other major nations, and to prepare for whatever enemy may come next.
