SANDRA [SANDRA] YSE to Return Former UOC Refugees, Close Camps

YSE to Return Former UOC Refugees, Close Camps
By Ichiro Fujiko, Star Army News Distribution and Reporting Agency

Valentine System - After 3 years of living in metal huts in spawling farm communities, many refugees are ready to move on with the next stage of their lives.

When the Mishhurthyar military, the NMX, invaded in YE 31, the breakaway nation calling itself the United Outer Colonies was a place full of hope and full of people. It was a peaceful nation that has obligingly returned all of its Star Army of Yamatai military ships and equipment back to its mother nation, which magnanimously opted not to crush the rebellion, saving billions of lives...at least temporarily. When the NMX attacked, the UOC Peacekeeper Forces were swiftly thrown into disarray and the whole section of space was plunged into a communications blackout, leaving responses crippled. Even the Star Army was not sure of what was happening.

As time passed, the Mishhuvurthyar helped themselves to the spoils of war, taking system after system until only the UOC's core worlds were left standing. The Star Army eventually investigated in YE 33, creating Task Force Torch to enter UOC territory and get more information. When it was clear the situation was dire, Abwehran hero Augustus Dietrich proposed an emergency expedition to help. The expedition soon became and international effort as Nepleslia and Yamatai sent thousands of ships, and the remaining populace of was loaded onto ships can evacuated under the premise that they were once again Yamataian citizens since their government had died.

They called themselves Jiyuuans, and they arrived in Yamatai often with only the clothes they were wearing. During the evacuation, refugees were limited to only one duffel bag or foot locker and one backpack or small carry on bag. They sorted into female, male, married couples, and family groups and those groups were scattered throughout Yamatai's space into thousands of hastily-built towns built in remote places across the empire.

Over time, the camps have seen a steady drop in residents as refugees set off to start new lives in Yamatai. With the war over, the people are now also able to return to their former homes that the the NMX invasion forced them to leave behind. Today, the Yamatai Star Empire's Department of Land and Homes and Star Army of Yamatai began working to help citizens reclaim their real estate on Jiyuu III and other worlds and announced a massive transportation project is in the works to shuttle the millions of interested refugees back to their point of origin. With their function completed, the old refugee cities could eventually be reused for other purposes, torn down, or left waiting for future emergencies.
