I wanted to do this before someone else did since it was going to bother me.
Just what are those two prongs off the back of Kuvexian ships? Just why are they in the path of all the exhaust gasses from the engine? That would burn them away quickly and require extra shielding. Also why do they look like the classic twin-prong transposition cannons?
I think this article provides a satisfying explanation for all of the above. Kuvexian Engines use an Aether Shock Cannon style afterburner to improve performance. This is why the engines look the way they do.
