I get this message when I start up my computer

"Alert! System Battery voltage is low. Strike the F1 key to continue, F2 to run the setup utility."

I never had this problem before, I am not sure how to handle it either. So can someone help me out here?

I suggest you replace your CMOS battery. It's a round silver thing on your motherboard about the size of two or three nickels stacked on top of one another. Kind of like a big version of the round batteries that go in pen-lights or watches.

If you don't, your computer will probably start loosing track of things like what time it is when you turn it off.

No, it's not hard.

WARNING: BEFORE YOU TOUCH ANYTHING IN YOUR COMPUTER MAKE SURE TO HOLD AS MUCH OF YOUR HANDS (especially fingers) AS POSSIBLE AGAINST THE METAL FRAME OF YOUR MACHINE FOR A FEW MINUTES! If you don't, you could fry some of your computer parts with electrostatic changes built up in your fingers. Also, try to keep your arm against the metal frame as you mess with things.

Also, and this is common sense, but don't forget to unplug the thing first, and definately don't do this while your box is running.

how much do you think a big computer super store would charge to swap out a battery? This is my suggestion if your gun shy to remove the case on your PC.

I mean, they would get the right battery and have it all done by the time you were done browsing the Darth Vader shaped mice.

:-)

But changing a battery doesnt take an A+ certification. Just be sure you get the correct replacement battery and as mentioned above, dont shock any of the components.

No idea, but it'd be better to go to a small local place, I'd think. Still, it's very simple and best to do it oneself in my opinion.
