I was putting some thought into the subject of subspace fields and acceleration, and general acceleration of matter and energy to FTL or C speeds, and I was wondering about different methods of accelerating objects and energy to luminal and super luminal velocities.
The matter of size of acclerators came up recently in a tech submission, and the thought came to mind of how small Star Army standard issue communicators are, and the matter of them being able to send signals which travel at FTL speeds. They must have some sort of subspace field generator or other means of transmitting a signal FTL, otherwise, a basic radio communication would be in use. Basic radio transmits at a luminal velocity, thus making long range communication in the SARP setting very difficult by such a means. Along with that, there are Mindy teleporter and drive systems, which are small enough to be attached to the back of a roughly five foot suit of humanoid armor. Such a system must be of a realitively small size, and I would like to know what kind of system is in use, and maybe if it were applicable to a weapons application.
What is needed for this application is an acclerator which would induce a subspace field which would only cover a length of barrel which would be, at the least, twelve inches, and at most 20 feet. Of course multiple accelerators could be applied, or a single large one could be put into use on the larger application. But what is really needed is a twelve inch by two inch subspace field generator fueled by accelerated plasma which would induce a low strength subspace field which would be used to accelerate super heated plasma with the aid of magnetic coils.
Any suggestions, tips, or ideas are welcome to tweak my approach.
