General Information
Purpose:
The intent when this device was being created was to have a large-format portable interface terminal that could be easily stored and had multiple uses. The demands of being a logistics officer require coordination as well as good information, and to have both means that Tetsuko was searching for the right balance between the two duties.
Functionality:
Chief Nozomi's clipboard possesses the ability to interface with nearly any existing computer system, both wirelessly and direct connect. Onboard software provides tools for monitoring tasks as well as messages, the ability to send and receive realtime communications without the use of a personal communicator, whiteboard with image storage capacity and multiple calculation routines. At its full functionality the clipboard serves as a sort of mobile office, containing everything the Chief needs to do her job.
Appearance:
The clipboard itself is made of durable molded blue carbon composite; it measures fourteen inches long by twelve inches wide and one inch deep. The screen is 8 and one half by 11 inches in size and covered with a plastic layer to prevent scratches and damage to the screen. It contains ports for several different types of plugs and sockets, a detachable stylus, mini keyboard, removable wireless camera, and a high-gain antenna as well as a dock for a hardcopy printer if necessary.
Additional Features:
Since it was built by Tetsuko with Tetsuko in mind, it has slots for alterations, and a firmly connected panel which can be removed to access the computational array located inside the housing. The battery lasts for an astonishing 200 hours between charges, and can be replaced as easily as the other hardware, so if it gets lost or stolen it won't be that hard to get the clipboard running again.
As far as software goes it can accept all formats of data storage, and even has a slot for smaller AI to be run from their data chip; biometric security along with a random encryption password that changes every week provide Tetsuko with the means to ensure her data cannot be stolen.
