The Arrival of the Imperium

Navigator Aurelius Minodoya was afraid. The fleet of ships he had been leading to their target had been beset by a Warp Storm the likes of which he had never seen. He stared out the window with his Third Eye, the battleship ducking and weaving as best it could to avoid damage, yet even now its Gellar Feilds were almost at their limit.

He wondered darkly what having a Warp Daemon eating your soul would feel like. Then, as quickly as it came, the Warp Storm dissappeared without a trace, and his eye widened at shock. He had never seen the Immaterium so calm before. Heck, he couldn't even see any of the foul Daemons that called this nightmare realm home.

He also couldn't see the guiding light of the Astronomicon. That had him worried. So, he ordered the fleet to return to normal space.

On the Yamatai/Mishuvurthyar border, there was a battle going on. Space was filled with the flashed of weapons and exploding ships. They noticed a slight disturbance in space, but paid it little attention. It was a ways off from them, and it didn't offer any tactical opportunities.

Then, a fleet of ships unlike any they had seen before exploded into existance, streaming ghostly energies from their surfaces as they ripped their way into reality. They were absolutely massive- the two largest ships were easily ten miles in length, with about half a dozen about half that, and about two dozen about a mile from prow to stern. The next thing they would have noticed is the tendency towards iconography- they were absolutely covered in bas releifs of eagles, skulls, winged skulls, as well as countless statues of angry-looking, armed angles and humans, and countless leering gargoyles. Heck, one of the largest ones had a giant, golden eagle nearly a mile across on its heavily-armored prow.

On board that very vessel, Aurelius slumped into his navigator's chair, exhausted as the neural links to the ship disabled and it descended from his viewing port- the only one that isn't shuttered when the ship transfers into the Ocean of Souls.

He heard the commander of the fleet, Solar Admiral Quixal Mangalan talking. After a moment, he realised it was to him.
"Where are we?"
The exhausted navigator looked at the man. The Admiral was over 300 years old, but thanks to the technology of Juvenat drugs, he looked as though he was in his mid-twenties. He wasn't that imposing physically, but he seemed to radiate authority and menace.
"I do not know, Solar Admiral. We were beset by a Warp Storm of unusual ferocity, and when it disappeared, I could no longer see the beacon of the Astronomicon."
At that moment, one of the tech preists tending to the augurs spoke up, his rasping electronic voice cutting through the omnipresent background noise of an Imperial vessel.
"Admiral, we have detected a large number of alien vessels of unknown configuration in the system. They appear to be engaged in combat, and none of them seem larger than a Frigate."
"Any communications?" asked the Admiral, looking at the tech-preists and the ship Astropath. The Astropath looked up, the blind, beaded eyes on her veil staring at the Admiral.
"I have sensed a large amount of telepathic activity, but much of it seems encrypted."
"Feed the stream into the cogitators. Have them try to break the code."
"Yes, Admiral." With that she turned to the machines, and, sitting down, he pulled down the hood to reveal the port on her head. Chanting the Ritual of Communion with the Machine Spirit, she began to plug the rather large cable into her head and begin the sharing of the information with the ship's cogitators. Hopefully they could break this code. Eventually.

[OOC: This is a crossover with Warhammer 40,000. Why this thread is in here should be obvious. Feel free to pitch in with whatever characters you want. I'll be controlling the 40k fleet's high-ups, though.]
