A bright flash filled the courtyard, Haeun let go of Curunir and winced as she pulled the device from her arm with bit of a yelp. "Fisc,"(F*) she cursed. She stumbled for a moment and was hunched over with her hands on her knees as she gasped for breath. She watched as Curunir stumbled around as well, eventually falling ass end first into one of the large clay plant pots.

Another flash followed as Sorle also returned, he grunted as he dropped to the grass and just laid down as it felt like the world was spinning around him. "That certainly don't get any easier," he said as he looked over toward Haeun and Curunir, "Well you found that jerk, he was on that ship?" he shook his head and blinked a few times then looked a Curunir and said, "I hope you get a boot up your ass for it. We looked all over for you, thought maybe you ended up dead, actually dead not just listed as dead." He got up to his feet and reached a hand to Haeun and helped her before he reached his hand out toward Curunir, then swiped it back the second he reached for it, which made him fall back onto his backside.

Haeun said as she looked toward the stairs that led into the palace. "Time to face the music...We better get in there. I want to get over this so I can get the heck out of this armor. It has to be at least two sizes too small on the hips and I want a bath." She led the way for the other two. They continued inside and past a massive volumetric display that showed different worlds, in all the universes where the norians had a presence. From Tsenlan, to the occupied horror that was now Noria, it was all there like some kind of diagram. She continued and led them down a corridor to the right, as they approached they could hear voices. "Great we're late. I hate walking in there once they're already talking. Try to keep your mouth in check Curunir, I don't think you got much of that duty currency that gets you out of things." She didn't give him time to answer, the doors parted.

The room was dimly lit, the focal point was the massive circular table in the center that appeared to be carved from stone. Chairs sat all around it, an illuminated symbol of the blue feather sat in the middle of the table. Sorle went around her, and sat down in his assigned seat next to Nira, he leaned toward his brother and said, "How much have I missed?" Nira just a shake of his head, it was a combination of the fact he had not missed anything important, but Nira certainly didn't intend speaking when their father was, he may of been brave but he wasn't stupid and a whisper even was not worth it. Haeun and Curunir both took their seats.

"...we didn't even see this coming..." Caecyan stopped speaking as he noticed the three of them joining the table. He looked at Curunir, like he was just about to say something, but then went back to addressing the entire table. A volumetric image of Noria hovered over the table, "They've taken the planet and we need to accept this. Our hands off approach is getting no where, especially now that this war is on two fronts and about to be a third." he looked around the table, and settled his hand over Teal's to the right of him. "Aetlantia and Noria cannot be lost and we cannot afford to lose this place either. It will be difficult, but our forces have to focus on the fight here on Shoishuggo, We also have to keep looking for answers connected to Tetsuya's 'so-called-death', all of us will have to do our part.

Nira cleared his throat an said when his father finished, "A false sense of security is prevalent on both Vespa and Lorenz, they think they are safe in their new home. Vespa is putting things back together, but I fear for the timetable. There just is not enough time, even if Aetrielle and her brother are the best choices for the throne they still have little knowledge of what they're up against. If they think Noria falling will be the worst thing to have happened, they will find themselves woefully sorry for that shortsightedness. I suggest we reveal ourselves, as father said the approach we have been having is getting us nowhere." It was obvious he was worried, "Not to mention it is getting hard for us to travel there. Last two times I made transit I felt like my head had been used as a training dummy."

Sorle spoke next, "The crew of the Alyelume appears to be fragmented, not to mention they're just grasping the very leading edge of this. They don't know just how ugly this invasion is going to get. I gave their mindhive specialist a bit of help, but I'm not sure how much use they will get from it. They seem more worried about their personal problems...I will let Haeun talk about that.

Haeun said, "Thank you, Uncle. The ship's surgeon attempted to murder their mindhive specialist. Aly, I mean Yugosha intervened and saved her but it was really close. They are suspicious of each other and now of us. They need to be read in. Most of us appear as inactive on their UNN rosters, a few even know that our deaths were greatly exaggerated, thanks to Aphelion. " she reported, "Our help can only go so far, the incursion here at home is getting worse, they've got a long hard road ahead of them and so do we. " she paused, then said, "Nira is right, transit back and forth is getting difficult. One of us is going to end up dead from using those bands or worse, something happens to one of us and one of them get the band."

There was a momentary silence, then Teal rose up from her seat and said, "We got a message this morning, three new arrivals on the beach near Togi. Whatever restored us, is still at work. Whatever or whoever it is, obviously is trying to resolve this as much as we are. It could be months, even with Kendra being with them, before they reach here. They're deep behind the lines and were lucky that anyone was still there. We also need to face the possibility that Tetsuya may actually be dead, or worse. Even if he is here on Shoishuggo, he could be just as deep as the three new ones." she sat back down when she had finished speaking.

"We all need rest, especially those that just returned. We may have to consider some kind of alternative in terms of how we interact. Thank you for your reports, I will go over what has been said here tonight, and we will meet back in the morning hopefully with a strategy put together. So this meeting is dismissed." Caecyan stood up from his seat, and Teal stood with him then followed him out of the room.

the_falcon_and_the_moon_andrew_midjourney2024.webpFour radiant flashes erupted in the palace courtyard, heralding their abrupt arrival from the void of transition. The pain was immediate and overwhelming; they crumpled to the ground, each with a strained groan. Grasping the grass, Caecyan dragged himself next to Teal, their bodies wracked with agony as they sought solace in each other's presence. Teal, overcome by nausea, retched onto the cool grass. Wiping her mouth, she looked wearily at Caecyan. "That... I wish I could say that was our last trip, but we all know that's not the case," she muttered, attempting to find a cleaner patch of grass to lie back on.

"It was worth it, mother," Sorle chimed in from beside them, trying to ease the heavy atmosphere with a note of optimism. "We helped them, and that's what matters. I just wish my nephew and that elf girl would see the bigger picture. Sure, the Empire might march here eventually, but at least we'll defend our home together." He referred obliquely to a specific newphew, the pain evident in his voice as he discussed family rifts.

Nearby, Haeun moaned in discomfort, clutching her abdomen as she rolled onto her side. "Maybe a rule about no food before..." she started, but her body revolted, and she was soon vomiting beside them. "You get the point," she gasped after a moment, wiping her mouth.

Hours later, refreshed and redressed in their regal Imperial garb, the four of them reconvened. Their armbands were now securely locked away in the vault. At the dinner table, they shared tales from their mission, their voices occasionally filling the room with laughter or softening with tears ~ emotions eased by sips of chacelle. As the meal concluded and the plates were cleared, Caecyan and Teal retired to the balcony off their chambers, overlooking the cityscape where the sail-like structures, usually used to shade the streets, fluttered gently in the evening breeze.

"I wish I knew why we were brought back, how did they get our backups?" Teal murmured, her gaze lingering on the horizon. "It doesn't make any sense ~ unless they knew we would use what they left behind to save others."

Caecyan, his eyes fixed on the stars, responded softly, "I try not to think about it too much. At least we're here together." His words hung between them, laden with unspoken memories and losses.

Teal reached for his hand, her voice tender. "I'm here now. Forget the time without me and enjoy this while we can. Who knows anything could happen."

In her own quarters, Haeun lay in bed, staring up at the starlit sky through her window. She clutched a photograph of Rivaen to her chest, whispering, "Stay alive, my jhyli,(love)" hoping against hope her love was safe. As she drifted into sleep, her thoughts reached out across the vast distances, hoping to touch him.

Elsewhere, Sorle was deep in his laboratory, poring over blood samples under the microscope. He was determined to mitigate the cellular damage caused by their ancient technology, a challenge that kept him awake long into the night. Alone in his scientific pursuits, his loneliness was palpable, marked by the absence of a companion to share in his late-night vigils.
