New Naurelin
Vaelaris knew he had to be quick about his business as he disembarked the shuttle, a Transuniversal leap was not planned - yet demanded. He stopped just briefly before he crossed the bridge from the landing pad to the palace. The engineers said they would not notice the change as their world was sent to circle this new alien sun, then again he didn't have the luxury of using the official brain trusts that Tetsuya and those who originally planned the transition had used, Naurelin wasn't on that list, perhaps some distant plan when the core worlds settled. Then again, they didn't know about many things that were in motion, including the massive hulk of a ship that looked like some kind of asteroid-starship fusion out of someone's nightmare that blocked out the sun above the palace. Sure the Eitans hated Vaelaris, but they hated him as any rival norian would - they had no idea just how much they should hate him. The presence of the filthy nightmare that hung there would change the nature of that hate completely. Naurelin had been his Ysi's seat of power for almost a hundred years. It was one of the first worlds reached by the ancient GATES.
Minutes later Vaelaris graced the marble floors where Adrin and Kendra had danced upon their wedding night, and the polished surface where an accord was signed to bring equality between Noria and her colonies. Those days of brightness had dimmed since they had passed. The halls were darkened now, devoid of a true Ysi's presence - Even the rest of the Orinas had no business there now. The massive doors to the throne room opened before him, his expected presence didn't appear to stir much of a response, not that the two who opened the door had much cognitive function left at all. Vaelaris stepped through those doors and he walked the center aisle. Vaelaris lifted his head just short of the first step, his attention was drawn first to the towering armor clad forms of two Craethel Officers that framed the throne. A man that looked almost norian, but not quite sat in the throne. The features of his face were more rigid, painted with some kind of timeless vanity that probably sent thousands or millions to die in exchange for it. More notably the man had tripointed ears, much like the mysterious woman that had accompanied Nira to the IRC on Yamatai those many months before. He had jet black hair, and eyes that could make a man shiver. Vaelaris felt that very tingle as their eyes briefly met before he lowered down on bended knee.
"Vaelaris, why is it you're here? Returned to me so quickly, you should know better than to deviate from your schedule," Morg'gho said as he craned his neck a little as the norian bowed befor him.
Vaelaris squeezed his eyes shut as his hands tremored hidden by his sleeves, "I came to report that Adrin got the ship, someone helped him." He said in a weak hushed tone as he felt his heart sink to his stomach. "My ships are hunting for him but...it illudes us, the Eitan's strategy has proven greater than expected." He felt the cool sole of the tip of Morg'gho's boot touch his forehead, tipping his eyes upward to once more meet his. There was a slight forward motion of his boot a small kick to warn that he should stay in that position.
"I don't want your excuses Vaelaris, just you to do what you are supposed to do. Don't come here to tell me that you've been defeated. WORK IT OUT! before they find friends that will make even more trouble. If you show your face here again without news of at least a minor victory, I will find someone who can complete the tasks I give them," Morg'gho said as he stood up from the throne and slapped Vaelaris on the side of his head, "At least get back to Noria to control that little girl playing Empress, surely you can manage to control her? Yes? That's right Vaelaris, get out of my SIGHT!"
Vaelaris grunted as he was slapped up side of the head, he didn't say anything else. He just scrambled to the door with shaken footing. He had made a mistake reporting in, he clamped his jaw shut in a tense frustration as he made his way back toward the landing pad. Sweat stung his eyes, but tears stained his cheeks. He looked up at the massive Craethel Hulk again before he boarded the shuttle.
It seemed that something always followed, always something lurking just outside of perception. It was far more than a man which they now had to deal with.
