Touhou!

So is anybody else here into the Touhou franchise?

Immaterial and Missing Power = AWESOMER THAN IMPERISHABLE NIGHT! ZOMG!

I tried but it didn't really get my attention. Touhou is just not my style (the one I tried was Immaterial and Missing Power).

I've played my share of other Doujin games though. Let's see...

There's Melty Blood ReAct, Blood-over-, Chantelise (demo), Ether Vapor (Demo), AliBat (inspired off Rozen Maiden), Valkyrie Tag Fight and Higurashi Daybreak.

Well, IaMP is a fighter. You try the ShmUP too (Imperishable Night) It's awesome!

Most of the Touhou games are a sort of scrolling shooters, if I recall correctly. Is that right?

 

[Lin]

I've played a bit of Touhou.

By 'a bit,' I mean that every time I close my eyes I see danmaku, the horrifying kalaidescopes of bullets the game throws at you.


EDIT: Yep, vertical shooters. This is a video of Eirin Yagakoro's 'Heaven Spider's Butterfly-Capturing Web,' played far better than I can. The interesting thing about the games that I find, actually, are the backstories of the various characters. With the exception of maybe four people, everyone in Gensokyo is monstrous.

Lemme see... Reimu's not outright evil, but she may be too lazy to be. Tewi's nice, and so's Keine Kamishirasawa. Everyone else, though? Monster.

Lol, Reimu is awesome. Lazy Shrine Maiden ftw!

Keine is also awesome, and...

Tewi Inaba? Blah! She may not be "evil" but she's sure annoying. :/

Besides, what about Hong Meiling?

Hong Meiling eats human flesh!

So... Yeah, compared to everyone else, she's pretty nice. Poor China.

So she eats human flesh, she's still awesome!

And you could say that the pros outway the cons with most of the characters!

Patchouli Knowledge, perhaps?
Or Shanghai? XD

 

[Lin]

Patchy is also a monster, but she's a monster made out of pure rock.

And is Shanghai the one that keeps trying to hang itself? I can never keep straight which is which. Although that does drive home the fact that Alice is really a monster.

Patchu is awesome.

In IaMP, I play as her.

Though I tend to play as Youmu/Yukari in Imperishable Night.

Alice isn't a monster persay, though!

Just saw that on the Touhou board at Wakachan, actually. Somebody rather clever dressed up an old R-Type - I think it's R-Type - image with Touhou characters and their signature attacks. From top to bottom, Remilia Scarlet the vampiress, Sakuya Izayoi, Remilia's maid and occasional murderer (she arranges Remilia's meals, see), Alice the puppeteer, with her dolls Shanghai and Hourai, and Marisa the witch.
