What does the minor changes box do?

What does the minor changes box do on the wiki? I was going through my C3A entry and fixing a few capitalization things involving the name here and there, checking the minor changes box as I did so. It didn't seem to do anything when I took a look at the past revisions wiki-thing on the page.

So should I be writing minor changes in the comment line too?

Yeah I always wondered what it meant too. I always thought Italic meant that someone had gone back for spellchecks or something.
