What is that Mishhu paralytic venom exactly?

Fred

Retired Staff
I have my science officer hounding me for details on a lot of things, from medical procedures in an advanced futuristic setting in which most of the harms you get can be fixed by dunking stuff into hemosynthetic liquid. Some questions I can sort of cope with, some not.

One of those is about the Mishhuvurthyar neurotoxins. More precisely the mix of nekovalkyrja muscle relaxant and sedative.

How does it work? Why does it even work on a neko? Can someone elaborate on it's function besides it being what I suspect is a plot device because nekos are supposed to be venom/poison resistant.

Elaborating on this would be really nice.

Wes is the only one that can properly answer it, I think.

But logically, the only way a toxin could best nanobot-based universal immune system would be through nanotech's one critical flaw: Size. Nanobots, being on the nano scale, would most likely be too large to destroy pico or femto-sized particles.

Of course there are other alternatives like phase-shifting substances, stealth poisons, and other wacky and mindboggling sci-fi concepts, but pico/femto particles would seem like the easiest and most realistic way to overcome a nanobot-based universal immune system using only an organically-produced poison.

The thing is that nekovalkyrja blood actually already functions with 'femtomachines'.

Can you really, realistically get smaller? How do you even build a picomachine? Isn't there molecule and atom size to consider as well? Just strapping a small qualificative does not make it have more sense.

Holy shit, Femtomachines? Femto is already freaking quantum scale, and they can build freaking robots that small? Building anything on that scale requires ridiculously huge amounts of power, let alone building femtomachines. Yet they've already standardized it into every day Nekos? I mean I knew SARP was advanced with Aether and all that, but wooooh.

If they already have machines at femto-scale, neurotoxins would already be obsolete since neurons are still on the microscale. Heck, all type of poison be obsolete. With stuff like femtotech they should already be easily doing stuff like generating microsingularities inside the body, killing cells by displacing atoms, and so on.

"Toxin" might be relative. It could be something that slowly disables the Neko's brain functions via its OS -- like a delivery system for a virus or something.

All Nekovalkyrja, for the purposes of medicine and safeguard, have certain elaborate chemical structures that will affect them. The Mishhu, being somewhat made by PNUgen (who made the nekos), are built to take advantage of them - the Mishhu is designed to fight the neko.

That's good and all Wes, but what can my medical specialist do about it? Can the toxin be harvested to create - I dunno - ammunition for a tranquilizer gun? Can the effects be removed through certain counter injections? If so, which kind of medical procedures could achieve that? Can the effect of the toxins be prevented by some vaccine of a sort? Do the Ketsurui-type nekovalkyrja (NH-22M, NH-23, NH-27, NH-29) end up being models enough removed from PNUgen's creations to have a slightly better resistance/recuperation rate against it?

(My own take is yes, a NH-27 and NH-29 should be more resistant - by the way of requiring more dosage before being incapacitated and faster recoveries - but the Mishhu have thirty-or-so tentacles... so, the larger dosage requirement is not that bad for them...)

Being able to counter it would be nice, but it'd seem a bit phony to me for a lone scientific novice to concoct an antidote to it when Yamatai probably has quite a few very good scientists working on the problem somewhere. While Miyoko certainly wants to get her hands on some, I never really intended her to get anywhere in making an antidote or vaccine for it.

The thing that more intrigues me on the tranquilizer gun idea is whether or not the stuff would affect a Mishhu if one could manage to hit an unarmored part of their body.

More Mishhu knowledge. Paralytical Mishhu. It's like Pokemon, but with tentacle rape-monsters. Yaaaaaaaaaaay.

Really does seem like the more I trawl these archives, the more I find stuff I just hadn't thought of/known existed. Like Mishhu fluff. Really somehow missing out on all this Mishhu fluff. But now I got another thing on the list of "things to read into further". Does somewhat give me ideas, though, such as maybe the genetics focus the Brolt have trying to steal this as a spore variation (for when they have worthless/non-child-production spores).
