Henry sat in the main living room of the Chen Estate. Around him sat the other male members of the Chen family: his grandfather, his father and two uncles, and his two cousins, Sam and Thomas. Henry had hoped to have a nice, quiet holiday at home, but it was slowly dawning on him that it was not to be.
His father and uncles were taking excitedly about Star Army's raid on PNUgen. Apparently, several family members who were working at PNUgen HQ were briefly detained after the raid.
"Well, to be fair, they did let us go after they verified our identities," said one of his uncles.
"Still, it's a great insult!" declared Henry's father. "They locked us up like we were criminals! Kept us waiting in that cell for hours! Well? What do you have to say about this, Henry?" he demanded angrily.
Henry looked to his grandfather. The two exchanged a knowing glance.
"This family's loyalty lies with the Emperor, not PNUgen," Henry stated simply.
"Well said, Henry," said Grandpa Chen. "Jobs could be found anywhere. Yamatai gave us a stable society and comfortable lives. It is the Empire that deserves this family's loyalty, not some faceless corporation."
Henry's father's face remained red, but he said nothing.
Henry looked at his two cousins. He had expected them to be entirely bored with the proceedings, but there they sat, listening with rapt attention.
Perhaps he had underestimated them.
"Tommy, I hear you have been adventuring on Nepleslia?" he asked.
"Only once, bro*," replied Thomas. "And I'm not going back there unless I'm in a power armor."
"That's probably a good idea," said Henry with a smile.
"I guess you're right, Henry. I'm sure the raid was all a misunderstanding... I'm sure things will get sorted out in the coming months," said one of his uncles in a conciliatory tone.
"The matter's settled then. We won't mention it anymore," said Grandpa Chen.
Henry glanced at the ornate clock hanging on the far wall. "I have an appointment with the Separa emissary. I'll be showing him around Tania. It would not do to keep the emissary waiting... Excuse me."
And with those words, he strode out of the room. Shina was waiting for him outside the door.
*(OOC: Henry and his cousins affectionately refer to each other as brothers.)
(Further OOC: Tyler, if you don't have time to JP, we can always SP it out.)
