Where and what type of officers are needed currently in Yamatai?

How does one become commissioned? Do they have to be enlisted first, or can they just gain a commission right from civilian status?

Can non-Yamataians/Nekos (but still a citizen of Yamatai) become officers?

I'll ask more questions as I need. Thanks for your time!

Fay is asking if Geshrin or Nepleslians can become officers in the SAoY, which I believe they can. From my understanding, Anyone can become an officer, so long as they go through the whole rank ladder to get there first, and take the proper training courses.

1. ICly, officers are needed throughout the empire in all positions.

OOCly, we need:

- Starship Captains / GMs for battleships, escorts, carriers, landing ships, and (war) freighters.
- Strategic Planning Officers (fleet management)
- Personnel Management officers
- Logistics Officers overseeing freight and equipment
- Intelligence officers (would report NMX activity)
- Training officers for the Fort Ready plot.
- Science/Advisor Officers with extensive knowledge of the setting, one per plot ship
- Information Tech. Officer for the YSS Genei. (See Mizunoyoroko).
- Supply officer for YSS Eucharis/2nd Squadron

Most of the current ships are full or nearly full so I'm very interested in creating a new Yamataian ship.

2. Commissions are given to those who apply, who have relevant college diplomas (eg Kyoto War College for ship operations, medical school for doctors). Commissions are also given to those that get promoted through the enlisted and warrant ranks (skipping cadet).

On the OOC side, anyone that's already been RPing on the SARP for a while (especially those playing Star Army characters E5 and above) can often get permission to create an officer by just asking me.

3. Technically yes, but most ship commanders require Neko/Yamataian bodies for several reasons, especially the mental capacity and medical issues. The Eucharis, for instance, simply doesn't recruit Geshrin. It'd be like hiring a six year old to fly an F-18.

Information Tech for the Genei? We really have more than enough tech people in the Genei, not that I will turn down anyone interested though. For the Genei I'm really just taking anyone so long as they understand that it's not a combat-centric plot.

I do have places for officers in the 4th SF staff, if anyone is interested in that path there are plenty of options that I am accepting applications too. Soon we'll move from the 2nd IRC plot into the war proper, and back to the territories.

The YSS Aeon and YSS Nadare have just opened as forums, so they'll probably be looking for officers soon.

Since it's happening anyway, I'll take the opportunity to push some Senbu action. We always like new players, officers or otherwise. And I hear we need to fill some vacancies in the staff.

Also I forgot to mention this, but for the Genei it doesn't matter what species you are. The option for bodyswapping depending on each mission is available as well, though after each mission you'll be returned to your original body.
