Hair color and Style: Her hair is perhaps her favorite bit of her anatomy - she performs many great feats with it. It has been dyed every color plausible, styled in a thousand ways, and will, in time, find all of them again. At the time of this writing, she favors her hair shoulder-length and in its natural glossy black, loose save for a beaded strand at the left side.

Personality: Yuri is a people-person who secretly finds most people to be exceptionally boring. She is fiercely passionate about everything she chooses to do, and ignores that which she dislikes with a dismissive finality. She is obstinate, stubborn, and impossibly moody when the path strikes her, and yet also shows a side of deep understanding and compassion that oft leaves her feeling highly detached from others. Chocolate seems to be an easy way to move her towards her softer side. Really, though, she is more concerned with being an angsty, awkward fifteen-year-old than with the problems of the world.

History
Yuri, like many children, was born to her parents. Like many children, she had an older brother who was, like many older brothers are, a sadistic bastard who made her life a living hell. Granted, much of that is melodramatic memories of a three year old. But there is no denying that Ejiro was not nice to his sister, and that their parents, who worked far too much to bring food to the table, were too often absent to provide supervision.
So Yuri grew up largely by her own wits. Fortunately, that was sufficient to most often evade her brother, and spend long hours on her own in the city. Perhaps a bad idea elsewhere, but Yamatai is not largely plagued by crime - and so it went on until she was eight.
By her eighth year, she had spent a fair amount of time in musical pursuits as often as she could manage - artists would occasionally allow her to play their instruments, or offer her a lesson for a half hour before a show. She had found everything rather simple, and yet fascinating beyond anything else she knew. She was not the only one who noticed her ability and her capacity for music. She was taken up as a keyboardist by a Kyoto rave band. Not an ideal place for a child, but she was well-treated, and it brought in a little extra money, making life at home easier. She passed from band to band in that scene, playing many instruments and many strange songs about things she did not quite understand.
So it would remain until only a few months back, when she encountered a tall man, with a funny accent. He came, he informed her, from Emrys Academy, and had seen her play. And he believed her to be of exceptional talent. Although she had little money to offer for the steep tuition price, she was before long accepted with full scholarship to the fledgling school, where she took to musical study with such a passion as to make her seem insane.
Some days she wonders if she will see her family again, and wonders more if she really cares.
Skills:
Entertainment - The greatest of Yuri's talents lies in music. Though she has had little training and less formal instruction, she can fluidly play guitar, piano, bass, violin, and cello. She is also a highly accomplished vocalist, with fully six octaves range. Ah, if only she had such inherent ability in other capacities....
Culinary - Though before attending the academy, she had only experience with basic cooking, Yuri has taken several months of classes in advanced culinary arts, particularly in pastries and breads. She has a considerable knack for this as well, though it is nothing compared with her musical ability, and she sees it as more of a hobby than anything truly important.
Rogue - Though she has no great ability with any of these skills, the fact that much of her childhood was spent as latch-key has left her with a few notable capabilities. She can pick basic locks, and is a very adept liar, able to craft outrageous stories and make them entirely believable - usually to the detriment of the one so convinced. Swindling, its the gods work. However, she is not talented enough to remove much from anyone, having only the fact that she is young and can conjure up tears at nothing as saving graces.
Humanities - Something rather new to her, but something that caught her attention. She has begun taking classes in both psychology and philosophy, and comes up with rather radical theories on both, largely composed of conjecture and fancy. For this reason alone, her progress has been rather limited in these areas.[/i]
