The Bothuthurtha Pirates are a rogue pirate group of kuvexians that remained in the Kikyo Sector. They were identified in YE 43. They are a NPC Faction which all Game Master can utilize.

The Bothuthurtha Pirates are a leftover group of Kuvexian Military and civilian patrons left over from the Kuvexian War. They were identified in early YE 43 by the First Expeditionary Fleet of the Star Army of Yamatai. Actual intelligence about their leadership or organization has not been gathered yet, but they appeared to be a disorganized pirate group. They have a tendency to target small convoys or lone starships and don't pose any major threat to most factions. They a more of an annoyance and are out for profit through criminal enterprise.

One of their cargo ships, the “Wampoo” was destroyed by the ISS Asagiri in the Misato's Passage near the Tange System in YE 43. ¹⁾

No space stations or other installations have been detected yet for this pirate group. They appear to be nomadic and move frequently.

Their ships are a mash-up of Kuvexian Military and civilian ships. They also have some ships captured or salvaged from some other factions. Their ships are frequently modified or contain a variety of components and parts.

The Bothuturtha Pirates were first spotted in the Motoyoshi Colonial Sector, but due to their nomadic tendency, they have been recently seen operating in many areas of the Kikyo Sector. They tend to avoid active military patrols and stick to outlying territories.

They frequent Detritus Station in the HX-17 system, where they sell their bounty to the neutral owner-operator of that station.

This group can be used for:

• Small group enemies.
• Local Interest.
• Pirate Stories.

Rumors about this group are as follows:

• They have a “somewhat” functioning Chiaki-class (1B) Escort Destroyer that they captured from the Star Army of Yamatai.
• They have a very large tab with the owner of Detritus Station.
• The Interstellar Kingdom Of Kuvexia is unhappy with their formation and operation and has classified them as traitors.
• One of their pirate commanders took a rather offensive bowel movement in a Bravemart location.
• They have a rivalry with the Black Tooth Grins.
