The Death Rain is a system designed to assault ground troops. The ordnance was designed to be dropped from the Ordnance Bay of the Ke-V8 "Super Kawarime" Fighter.
The Death Rain were developed in YE 42 as part of the Ke-V8 "Super Kawarime" Fighter project.
The Shi no Ame (Death Rain) are bomblets designed to be used against a ground force. They are impact detonation weapons. They have fins to ensure that they land where the pilot wants them to hit. The explosive is powerful enough to damage armored ground vehicles, and power armor.
They are loaded into the ordnance bay of the Ke-V8 "Super Kawarime" Fighter onto disposable racks that eject the bomblet. When the rack is depleted the rack is ejected and the next rack starts deploying. It is possible to stagger the deployment. The pilot or weapons officer can select full or single rack. Full obviously means all of the racks will deploy their bomblets, while the single rack allows the craft to make tight strikes hitting small targets. After each rack is ejected, the pilot or weapon officer must rearm the system.
