Hinamatsuri (雛祭り in Yamataigo (邪馬台語)) is Girls' Festival or Doll's Festival, which falls on 3日 3月. On this day, women and girls usually celebrate by going out together and shopping, or having the men or boys in their lives buy them gifts.

Traditionally, women and girls will set up elaborate displays of dolls representing the Empress or Emperor and her or his attendants. The display is meant to represent a traditional wedding ceremony. The dolls are usually displayed on a multi-tiered stand covered in red cloth, with the Empress or Emperor at the top tier. It is said that in ancient times, children were allowed to play with the dolls, but it has long since become for purposes of display only.

Parents or grandparents of newborn girls are expected to buy a set of dolls for the child before her first hinamatsuri.

When celebrating hinamatsuri, women and girls will normally hold parties with their friends. At these parties, food such as colorful rice cakes and crackers, sushi bowls, and strawberries are served. The customary drink is shirozake.

Hinamatsuri was first introduced in YE 45.3.3 and is celebrated every year on the anniversary of that date.
