The passing of bill two in the Nepleslian Senate made for contentious public debate. Threats by Geshrinari Shipyards and Zen Armaments to disassociate themselves with the planetary government resulted in a public relations fiasco for all parties involved. The government was blamed for the impending loss of jobs (numbering in the thousands) when the companies moved as well as the near-crippling effect it would have on Nepleslia's military power. Public opinion polls revealed that only 22% of Nepleslian citizens had "faith that their government could protect itself from outside forces.â€
PNUgen Corporation's headquarters in Pagoda no Uesueya, Yamatai, will remain closed for business until futher notice, after it was damaged during a raid by Star Army of Yamatai forces. About 120 workers were taken prisoner, and hundreds more were injured or killed, as well as Taisa Ketsurui Hanako being sent to the hospital in a coma. Nepleslia's newly-formed senate has passed a law that will create an organization to track all weapons on the planet. Nepleslia is known for an unusually high rate of violent crime, mostly in its poorer slum areas around the outskirts of major cities. It remains to be seen what power, if any, this "senate"...
Geshrinari Shipyards, Nepleslia's largest manufacturer of both civilian and military spacecraft, said today they were considering plans to move to the Yamatai Star Empire or elsewhere if the weapons registry bill was passed. Zen Armaments, a rival corporation which supplies almost all of the weaponry for the Nepleslian military, also issued a statement to the same effect. If the corporations moved, it would effectively cripple the newborn Star Army of Nepleslia and the Nepleslian economy as a whole, and producing violence as financial resources dry up. Yamatai has already started making arrangements for the corporations to move, promising major corporation status if desired, and monetary support to pay for the move.
