Primitive Polygon

🎖️ Game Master
Submission Type: Sub-Faction/Coorperation
Submission URL: https://wiki.stararmy.com/doku.php?id=freespacers:wire_guided

Faction; Freespacers / Itself!
FM Approved Yet?; Yes, me, now.
Faction requires art?; Nope.

For Reviewers:
Contains Unapproved Sub-Articles?; Only the Liquid Ally, which has also be submitted.
Contains New art?; Yes... Well, a flag.
Previously Submitted?; No.

Notes: To make a long story short, the multi sub-faction idea I had for the Freespacers was making it nearly impossible to create a plot which didn't have conflicting character ideologies and skill sets.

This new unifying faction is intended to give a whole new wave of motivations for Freespacer plots, to the point of allowing any species to join. The long-term goal is to finally establish a permanent peace with Yamatai, and then run the spacers more like a corporation-come-underground-revolutionary-cadre, spreading to pre-existing planets and allowing my faithful players to interact with other groups a million times more efficiently.

Sorry about posting this when there are so many other big things to review out there, but I don't mind waiting a little bit, just as long as this is on the table for peeps to have a chat about. After all;

Growth will be established by announcing new establishments on a monthly Debug Funk broadcast, which will exist inside other faction's territories. I'm going to take a lack of armed response as 25% of a normal 'colonized planet's industrial capacity, up to the maximum amount that would normally available (due to players, e.t.c.), instead of the normal faction buildup limits.

This means random alliance boons for all! With the Kuvexians around the corner, I'm sure the last thing that either of us want is a Freespacer puppet state in the north.

This suggestion has been implemented. Votes are no longer accepted.
When are we going to get a more official Spacer interaction suit? Something that they can stay in to maintain their livelihood abroad without blasting their friendlies?

Not to be little this. This is totes nice.

If you are talking about a litteral space suit, then Dumont's new model did cover that stuff. You could even get a skin tight version... Or you could just get a Jelly Junker, which gets rid of both nuclear material and bacteria...

On the other hand, if that was saying 'I want a guy who doesn't want to kill everyone for political japes', then, yeah, this faction has that covered. You could both work for the Star Army of Yamatai and the Wire Guided at the same time, if you really wanted to!

This is a clean break. I want to put all of that angsty old IWL stuff behind us, but still keep the unruliness that makes spacers fun. :3

Just wanted to ask, as a few of my plots (and my NSN plot, even) have had Freespacer interest. Always nice to see more.

This thumbs up and thumbs down thing, are there multiple thumbs ups or thumbs downs or just one that is an average of the thumbs up and thumbs down a certain person has been given?

If they have a large population on 188604, it is worth mentioning in Relationships With Other Cultures & Factions how they work/ coexist with USO, though I also see a piece of the USO pie in history.

Area of Operation

Finely scattered individuals are operating all throughout known space, including deep inside the territory of non-spacer races.

The above is a little imposing and ominous, instead of being clear cut and laid out. I'd like to see more here.

You say two contradictory things, but I could be missing something:
"The Viridian Array, on the other hand, are on mildly good terms with them, which leads some individuals to actually become members of both organisations."
And this:
"...and quickly spread even to Nepleslian space, particularly by those unimpressed by the testosterone-infused attitude of the Viridian Array."

I like the little (!) next to the airbikes, but why is it there?

How did Neko get tied into this? Why does anybody that's not Freespacer choose to join? I know it says things about going into Nepleslia, but not anything about going into Yamataian space.

It's numerical. Added an extra sentence to explain this.

Added a little paragraph.

Changed it to be longer, and a little more specific. To be fair, they are supposed to be difficult to pin down; It's a organisation of scattered individuals, not actual bricks-and-mortar bases. The biggest real-world things they operate are escort-scale vessels, and those are basically just merchant vessels who's captain is sympathetic, most of the time.

It's saying that pacifist Freespacers who wouldn't join the Viridian Array (because of their love of guns) might join the Wire Guided, but it's not like the two organisations are political enemies or anything.

I like the little (!) next to the airbikes, but why is it there?

Because only a spacer would jury-rig a rocket bike so they can fly around in space on it! :D

How did Neko get tied into this? Why does anybody that's not Freespacer choose to join? I know it says things about going into Nepleslia, but not anything about going into Yamataian space.

I added an extra section to deal with this. The in-universe reason is that the secret organisations of these empires tend to be untrustworthy and rather gruesome dicks (ISC Phoenix Part II in particular dealt with this a lot). The meta reason is that there were already characters like this, such as neko or ID-SOL created or stolen for private uses, as well as old freespacer characters in both the SA and Origin.

Thanks for getting to this so quickly, anyhow, Ame! I'd be happy to answer any other questions y'all have. I owe you one.
