History and Background: The armadillo's design is somewhat based on a living armadillo...only much more powerful. Although being only a lowly prototype it shows great promise being unarmed. It has currently Went through AI testing phases successfully, and showing a great deal of endurance as its parts are fastened together so securely that it barely damages itself in high performance tests.
The armadillo was nearly cast off as merely a joke a it's designer, umibouzu was way behind schedule so decided to skip weapon systems, which gave MAD-WEP much more time to design further weaponry as he finished finally. The power armor seemed to be a success.

About the [Model Name]: A dream come true for Exocorp Technologies as a prototype, however they still aren't in the clear yet. The Armadillo is most-likely going to be frustrating for even high ranking power armor pilots as the most moves with both their arms and legs, assisted with the movement thoughts of their mind. The prototype is rather lacking if fire power as a prototype but when it's finished it might gain some prestige as a favorable armor.
Statistical Information:

Crew: 1
Maximum Capacity: .1
Appearance: A long, wide and animal like in appearance. It's IAP shell is rounded which adds rather significantly to it's defense or so they were lead to believe by the Setsuna Mechworks Mecha Models. It also has a tail which may or may not be included on the production model but if it does you can bet the tail will serve a purpose. The mecha has long inward jointed hind-legs and human-like arms which sort of give it a froglike appearance leg-wise.

Length: 9 feet
Width: 4 feet
Height: 3 feet

Speed (Sublight): See FTL Travel
Speed (FTL): Currently unable to do so until an adequate ship has been purchased for non-atmospheric testing.

Speed (atmospheric): Mach 2.0 at sea level due to wind resistance

Speed (underwater): Underwater performance not available at this time. Final version may have underwater capabilities under a variant of the Armadillo final release.

Lifespan: Lifespan: 8-9 years active service with required servicing

Systems Descriptions:

Interchangeable Zenotronium Coated Andrium Claws IZCA Claws (4): IZCA Claws are a fairly interesting concept, they were created for savage combat however, if need be, the claws can be removed by allies by opening up a wireless connection through the control hub and inputting the disengage command on the legs. This is only if an ally falls and you need to get fresher claws. The hub can only be accessed by friendly Armadillo Power Armors. The code ios lodged deep within a unlikely component of the mecha which is accessed by the allied armadillo's AI upon the Pilots own decision of course.

The AI communicated to the fallen mecha and recieves signals from a dormant and always functioning AI on its own battery and the mini-AI unlocks the claws and then becomes dormant once more. The claws lock in around a series of bolts and a rectangular piston slowly moves into place around the thick armored claw-boot and locks more deeply and securely in a moderatly easy process,

Cerebral Scanning Movement Interface Helmet: A success at imitating the Kylie's control method by using a series of powerful scanners on the internal plating of the helmet. Thick armored Cables run from the back of the helmet and into the back and into the Thought translation processor (TTP) module and rapidly sift Movement thoughts, Hostility and Engage thoughts from the rest of the data pool. It merely duplicates the surface thoughts rapidly and discards the unnecessary thoughts from the mecha resulting in high paced maneuverability and near break neck trigger fire. It also has another scan that reads deeper into the mind, searching for possible injuries or pain that had been feed back to the mind through the nervous system.

Manual Bio-Spine Power Armor Shifting (MB-SPAS) system-Prototype Model (1): A long snake like spinal cord travels up the center of the back and has the capability of increasing the length of the armor making it more pilot compatible, it can also be used to spread it's weight out further and evenly making it hard to knock over. The System is loosely based on a similar idea of an enthusiast, he in fact created the plans for this, and he also remarks he has more surprises in the future for mecha design but for now he is going to play it safe.

Thought Translation Processor (TTP) Module (1): This is a rather interesting feature that makes the power armor have an odd deal of complexity. This feature makes the mecha seem almost like a computer. It receives data bits in packets of about nearly 1 million GB per second and sifts through all the information in a matter of Nanoseconds and then sends the sifted information towards the sophisticated processor of the mecha which is exactly how it moves my thought.

Back-Up Defense AI (B-UDAI) System (1)-Prototype Model: This is a fail safe if the processor should be damaged by anything, and the pilot begins feeling a great deal of fear, panic and pain the B-UDAI System takes in and takes control, it's a sophisticated battle oriented AI that will attack if it the opponent is fatigued or at all inexperienced at all, However if the opponent would be way out of the pilots class it will quickly pull back and flee.This system is far from the finished product. This would cause great problems for uses in star army and thus would be reconfigured to a battle strategy recognition AI.

Gravity and Magnetic Anti-Projectile Field -Prototype model: A field is constantly projected around the power armor with a controllable field of gravity projected by gravity field generator, and can control the output of how much gracity it can project, thus if it had time to prepare against certain attack types it could simply set the gravity output specifically rather than using all it's power to project a powerful barrier against common gun fire thus draining the generator faster than it can project and leaving the power armor open for missile pods and such. Electromagnets also seem to protrud out of the back as nail-like spikes that when active can distort the path of any metalic projectiles path, and posibly capable of a;;tering it's path upward if the power armor pilot were to set the electomagnets in such a way to emit a negative magnetic current repelling rather than attracting in an upward fasion.

Armor: The external armor plating is mainly composed of Andrium at the base; however a coating of Xenotronium was added last minute as a bonus to its defense. The armor plating is also supported by a sub-structure protecting it from powerful impacts without so much as a dealt but the armor doesn't provide much against powerful energy weapons much more than plain old Xenotronium.

IAP System: A system willingly submitted by the same enthusiast as the MB-SPA system. This system is what really gives the Armadillo it's name, The Quadropedal armor now gets a thick amount of heavy duty, and high grade Xenotronium interlocking plates that fold over the back creating a large, shell like protrusion from the back. It now protects the pilot from even greater damage making it a Power Armor tank literally.

Life Support: The mecha's internal environment is pressurized, and also provides additional air feeds to the pilot's flight suit that provides him with pressurized breathing. In emergencies, the system can recycle the available air supplies long enough to allow the pilot to survive up to 56 hours. Bodily wastes are removed via a catheter system. Nourishment is provided in the form of a concentrated fruit juice/paste.

Looks good to me.

I have a few concerns regarding this Mecha that I hope can be resolved (as I think a defence oriented mecha is quite a good idea).

These sections require values.

From the description I've imagined that this particular mech is somewhat heavier than other mech available.

Regarding speeds; from the description I don't get the impression that the mech was designed to be very fast (though most probably faster than an un-armoured soldier), so if this was the idea please compare to other power armour in the setting and choose an acceptable value. From what I could gather this mecha is also primarily ground based, with only limited low-level flight with the help of its gravity systems (also it being incapable of reaching standard escape velocity, and lacking FTL capability).

For range, considering it was described as a more of a defence oriented mech I also imagined that this would make the particular mech a short-range mech when compared to others. That is short range without the help of a Mech carrier or other external transportation device.

For lifespan I recommend expanding it to "Lifespan: 8-9 years active service with required servicing"

This in general seems ok, however when reading this; I wasn't sure if you meant you had to open a wireless connection and manually enter codes or if no manual input was required (this may just be a specific oddity in the way I'm am interpreting the sentence)

I know this might seem a bit odd (especially from me), but could you please be a little bit more vague in your description of the computers performance, it is ok to imply that it is a very powerful computer, but giving specific values (even if very high) in regards to computers can give problems later in RP (correct me if I'm wrong Wes, but isn't this the defacto/prefered approach when talking about computer performance?).

I have a few concerns regarding this, first is the fail safe in regards to the pilot feelings, from an IC standpoint/viewpoint I don't know if I would like armour with this particular feature, however others might have a different IC standpoint (especially commanders), so I'm going to say this as completely your call as the designer, I just wanted to let you know what I thought.

In regards to how the system functions however, it would be very difficult to gauge an enemy's class (piloting/battle skill) without having previous monitoring of its performance in battle (via a MEGAMI-type system I imagine) therefore meaning that this system will not automatically be able to determine the class of any previously un-observed opponent. Additionally, this system may require a slight addition to the programming of the PANTHEON/MEGAMI system, which I'm sure that Wes would be willing to do (that is if the Star Army becomes a user), and my main point in mentioning this is that this required update would just make an interesting little detail that can be added in somewhere.

Now my largest concern with this system, is this part in particular "However if the opponent would be way out of the pilots class it will quickly pull back and flee."
This is most un-acceptable, as all soldiers should be willing to die in the line of duty. Unless having orders to the contrary all soldiers should hold their ground to the death. This is nothing unique, and it might even be helpful to review the following parts of the Military Law of the Star Army.
Star Army of Yamatai Military Law said:
#15. Misbehaviour Before the Enemy
Proposal #36

1. Any Star Army soldier who
(1) runs away;
(2) shamefully abandons, surrenders, or delivers up any command, unit, place, or military property which it is his duty to defend;
(3) through disobedience, neglect, or intentional misconduct endangers the safety of any such command, unit, place, or military property;
(5) is guilty of cowardly conduct;
(8) wilfully fails to do his utmost to encounter, engage, capture, or destroy any enemy troops, combatants, vessels, aircraft, or any other thing, which it is his duty so to encounter, engage, capture, or destroy; or
(9) does not afford all practicable relief and assistance to any troops, combatants, vessels, or aircraft of the armed forces belonging to the Star Army or their allies when engaged in battle;
shall be punished by death, unless he is a Taii or below that is following orders.
So, I'm fairly certain this is the policy of the Star Army as well.

Gravitational and Magnetic Anti-Projectile Field -Prototype model: A field is constantly projected around the power armor with a controllable field of it's on gathered and stored Gravity particles with the aid of electromagnetic waves that entwine with the gravity field as a added defense. These gravity particles can be withdrawn or deposited at any given moment and are projected around them as either a full gravitational sphere or a hollow sphere which focuses all the gravity within a more enduring field that leaves the power armor unaffected by gravity, preferably in a setting where there is no land. Metallic objects such as Missiles, Missile pods, or bullets can either be sent to the ground by the barrier or trapped within the magnetic waves if the Electro-magnetic spikes had been activated as well. This however has limited use for the longer it is used the more particles are lost and weaker the magnetic spikes grow.
I have a slight problem with this, while it is well accepted in the RP to be able to generate and manipulate gravity fields, it isn't technically possible to store gravity per say.

If you change this to a gravity field generator/manipulator (I'll leave the exact wording to you, as that was never my forte), powered by capacitors that can slowly be recharged by the armours internal power systems you will get the same effect, with the same limitations, and we will be able to avoid any technicalities regarding its physics.

Life Support System: The armadillo is equipped with its own Life Support System; it monitors the pilot's condition and works with an Integral Armor Sensory network scanning the area around them for oxygen and other resources the life form needs to sustain him. There is a small soft and absorbent path of cloth near the pilots primary sources of waste and uses small robotic arms to create incisions if necessary to then assist in the removal of waste and then the waste is sucked through a small tube if being feces, urine is absorbed on a soft batch of clothe which is then rotated around a belt like network, thus being reusable for a great deal of time. Back waste it placed in a sealed chamber that is then filled with an acidic liquid which then dissolves the waste and then is sucked back into its container.
^_^;; *pokes with ten metre pole* Sorry, I just had to say; that the last half of that description is the least attractive thing I've heard in quite awhile.

(Did I say a few? Sorry if I was a bit long winded ^_^; )

I appreciate the critisism and would probably take m ore time fixing but It's a prototype after all, Of course some things will be fixed. I thought I'd try for developing a Life support system...and lets just say i might just stick with the default standard life support system many power armors use.

Also thye mecha is going to come out in 3-4 models each serving a purpose. There will be 1 Land Mecha and the rest with be Space-Capable, The power armors will actually be able to handle more powerful weaponry due to their 4 pronged stance making it a reckonable mecha that meets the offensive standards of higher ranking mecha.

Mass, speeds, Planetary and Rage will be added soon. Speeds will be able to be accelerated by placing propulsion systems in all four of it's legs, a small one beneath the mecha and then a larger one on the back shell.

Armadillo units come witha special scanner (Which will be added after Human Pilot Tests have been initiated) that will allowthem to find the unlock code which will disengage the claws after the code has been found and entered, and do as they wish with them.

Wow, Less Description? I will try, I felt kind of proud about that feelingI was putting what I learned from PC Repair into action in combination with Star Army tech.

Im thinking the B-UDAI would be for testing purposes for now and then would improve on the AI, which would be able to make in-battle suggestions, it would also view fight patterns and catalogue them, making the mecha's battle intellegence increasingly more intellegent and warn the pilot of possible traps. Fleing was developed for problems with the power armor as well.

About the Gravitational And Magnetic fields, Could gravitational particules be generated via generator? If so that works even better.

I'm glad that more details will be added, and I doubt that some of my other concerns will be too much of a problem on a prototype, though I'll ask that you consider them more when you reach the time to introduce a production model.

Skhaal said:

Gravity fields(this particular wording is important) can be generated for immediate use, however gravity can't be stored in anyway; which is why I sujested capacitors(an power approach used on some other SA armours) as a way to power the field generators, this solution keeps basicly the same functuionality and limitations on use that you had originaly planned.

Alright Scribbles, you should be happy to know everything you had a problem with has been changed. The fleeing AI will be removed of course. Also I would like to reveal information on the variants of the Power Armors and their names.

Armadillo: Armadillo or sometimes nicknamed 'Armordillo', is a land based power armor, and the most versitile land power armor of it's kin variants. It can obtain rather fast speeds despite it's rather large size comming off as a supide and it so strong it can ram vehicles hard. It is...however unable to roll into a ball as the power armor designed wanted it to but still despite their disappointment it is still a success. The power armor works in any planetary setting from urban to dangerous swamp-like conditions.

ODIN: ODIN was created as a network thing, The word 'thing' being used lightly. It is a power armor that huses a large nuerally attatched brain to the power armor itself. The power armor requires no pilot as it already has one, it is capable of controlling from 1-2 unoccupied power armor variants aside from the brain armor. ODIN stands for Organic Dependant Intellegence Network, and the brain

is actually a AI of sorts. It needs to be programmed via control panel by a commanding officer for various tasks, and it equiped with a flat surface and a pair of powerful robatic arms. The power armor does as it is commanded instinctually from then on, it was seen to be a useful power armor for gathering wounded soldiers and acting as a mobile infirmiry.

If instructed 'Search for friendly wounded units' it would do so, It would also attempt to treat their wounds medically with fast and precise action. It comes equipped with a great deal of medical components and chemicals. The brain however, cannot live without organs?

that's why the power armor has a set of artificial mechanical parts that react as a functioning organic body, and however needs to supply itself every few months with a new container of necisary nutrients to keep the brain from dieing, as it is the only organic thing on the power armor.

It already comes with nutrient generators, which are cheap and only last a few months before dieing. ODIN however has a concience and kill or attack commands are unwillingly carried out but it causes it to fuction at lesser output levels suffering guilt.

ODIN it also capable of feeling emotions and speaking through a external speaker set, making it more of a living thing than a machine but lacks desires and such as most sentient and non-sentient do. ODIN overall was built for Exocorp itself as a reliable delivery system and more reliable than lackey. (This is a maybe and note that these are all plans for the future, and thats why they might sound a bit awkward.)

War Panther: A more aggressive counter part of the Armadillo. Instead of having a dome like shell it simply is a armored bipedal armor and made to look more like a feline than a heavily plated armadillo. It comes equipped with more weapons and is more agile than it's fore-armor.

Approved, although the stats are in serious need of editing for spelling/grammar. I'll get to it when I have some spare time.

Is this still around? If not, maybe we could snatch/rework it into something for @raz and the Kudhacari? After all, they're inspired by Pangolin/get scale-like hair that makes a shell. Having a set of power armor inspired on an armadillo would also likely give them the ability to utilize it for digging and safety (curl up during cave-ins, anyone?), giving them a perfect tool for miner safety while equally still being a suit of power armor for soldiers. Not so sure we'd need the ODIN thing, but everything else really compliments the mentality that these dudes charge into combat (which I think was what they were kinda keyed in for, right Raz?).

Dunno. It's a neat time when someone makes power-armor intended to ram/get into the thick of a melee.

No, I think all the Thraxarian stuff Skhaal made, and this, were "exfoliated" by the wiki. If you want to recycle some of this, please put it in wiki form.
