RP: YSS Ryūjō YSS Ryūjō - Mission 1.2 The Eye Of The Storm

Space Battle

Hellcat , veteran combat pilots and other high ranking pilots finished off the stragglers along with their teams of fighters. The argument to attack the anomaly with it's protective swarming fighters was over fighter tactical frequencies. But none wanted to make the move to attack without the bigger battle ships heavy fire support. Which seamed the majority consensus amongst them. With the Surviving fighters they formed up into teams. Once again those with experience had low experienced pilot with them as they pulled picket duty, in mass.

Shuttles gathered the last of the stranded pilots and took them back to the mother ships. Fighters that could be still flown returned to their respective ships for repairs. Shuttles that could salvage the crippled or incapacitated fighters, recovered them for the recyclers and fabrication shops aboard the much bigger ships.

Even a few Enemy fighters were salvaged along with SAoY fighters for Saint to play with.

Once battle field was clear of debris. Errowyn wondered about those that on the planet were doing. But she still remained focus out here with the fleet of fighters. Teams were being sent back one at a time for to be re-armed with munition and defensive measure pods.

Space Battle

Takeyu smiled as he positioned the ship with the crew in the bridge, even though that snake is here, her was boss till the end of this mission "Okay Hellcat keep clear we are firing now." He smirks as he told the crew to fire the main guns at the location given to them and laughed "Well then this will be interesting" as he said this the guns fired and hit into the enemy group and hits the main thing that was being protected.

This caused the cloaked ships appear, the crew was able to focus on the ships now and do there job not just fire blindly.

Broken Shuttle

The pilot brought the rest of the crew on board before him and smiled as he covered their retreat as he then runs onto the shuttle with covering fire from the crew. He smiled as he sat in hi pilot chair "Lets do this!" He quickly started the engines and took off as quickly as he could, the shuttle scorched some of the forest and enemies behind him "This will be rocky so watch out and be ready." As they fly he tries to get hold of the YSS Ryūjō and kept the message on loop that they are headed back.

YSS Ryujo

Sybil looked at the others on the shuttle and sighed as she didn't want just medics but that was all that they had and it wasn't right. She looked at them "Either of you have any proper training with fire arms or are you more interested in fixing holes then causing them." She glared slightly at the two medics, she had to take them onto the ship as she knew they needed medics but one was alright the other was quite green and she didn't like that idea and thought it a little bad for a ship that has been through such a massive lost of crew.

The pilot heard a transmission from a shuttle and called Sybil to the cockpit and played her the message "Okay you two back to Med Lab the ship is coming and has wounded, be prepared and quickly as you both will be needed." She got onto the communicator and grumbled "Away crew, This is your new captain, get back here as soon as possible as we are leaving here, we aren't prepared for this and lost way too many people."

Broken Shuttle

The pilot smiled "Thank god about that, so Sebastian can you shoot anything that starts to shoot at us as there were anti-air turrets around the planet" as he spoke the turrets started firing at the shuttle to bring it back to planet side.

Ryujo, Shuttle Bay

Zion took Sibyl's question about firearms training as the answer to the question he'd asked her. Of course any Star Army personnel would have received basic firearms training. Given his dedication to preserving life, he did not enjoy the thought of being involved in offensive combat. Defensive, he could manage. Still, he showed no signs of the thoughts running through his mind. He was, however, very glad when he was given new instructions.

"Yes, Ma'am." Came his sharp response. He stood, grabbed his equipment, and exited the shuttle. He quickly gathered the rest of his belongings, mostly consisting of other medical supplies, and headed to the Medbay.

"Let's just hope that Mishhu isn't one of the ones needing treatment." He said, mostly to himself. "Aside from basic Neko treatment, I would only be guessing at what needs to be done for one."

Space Battle

Nocnimura, the Santo Hei who had been awarded the opportunity for her mind to be placed in the body of a Nightmare Mishhuvurthyar was already an experienced pilot before she ever signed up to be one for the Star Army of Yamatai. Her father had been a pilot since before she was born, and she could always remember wanting to do the same job as her daddy. She'd taken flying lessons as young as she was allowed, and flown thousands of hours in simulators.

After signing up, her desires didn't change, at all. Every opportunity she got to do flight training, she took. Granted, with being awarded the Nightmare body, she also had to take substantial soldier training, but that didn't phase her. Finally, here she was, in flight, in combat, where she'd always wanted to be. True, she wasn't as skilled as Hellcat and the other veteran pilots, but she also wasn't as green as the other rookies. Many of them were foolish and prone to panicking. Her regular calm demeanor helped her keep a cool head even amidst the stress...likely one reason she was chosen to take the body she now possessed.

When the blast from the Ryujo resulted in her, finally, being able to see her targets, she smiled. Several fell to her guns before she heard the transmission from the grounded shuttle. There was no question, to her, what needed to be done. She transmitted to her more experienced wingman, who quickly agreed, and then to Errowyn. "Hei, we're breaking off to escort that shuttle from the surface."

The two of them wasted no time. They broke away from their group and headed to the site of the shuttle trying to fight its way out of the planet's atmosphere.

Space Battle

Once the word that the big ships guns were firing, the fleet of fighters spread out opening gaps in the picket line to allow the Ryujo and other ships clear lanes of fire.

"Affirmative," Hellcat responded to the call from Nocnimura, As the deadly lances of fire streaked through the picket line of fighters into the designated target, exposing the crippled enemy mother ship. A lot of smaller enemy fighters exploded from barrage from the fleet.

Before the enemy fighters and fleet could respond, The might of the Fighters from the fleet had rushed in with the barrage from the fleet and opened fire upon the enemy trying to flee from the sudden blitzkrieg of fighter. The battle was fully engaged. With the one Enemy Big ship now exposed to the fleet was taking a pounding from YSS Ryujo and other ship of the fleet.

Errowyn purred softly as she attacked aggressively the enemy fighters working in pairs. They quickly decimated the fighters, having learned their tricks in earlier engagements.

Broken Shuttle

Sebastian was already seated in the seat that was usually reserved for the main gunner. She looked at the console for a moment when asked the question and nodded slowly, "I believe so. I haven't done anything like this since training, but at least this I can do one handed." She turned to face the controls and worked them with her normal arm, the mechanical one had seized up on her. She took aim at the turrets that were firing on them and returned fire as best she could. "I'm not sure how long we can keep it up, though. Not all of them are functioning and we only have so much power to them."

Broken Shuttle

Sebastian and the other members of the ground team would find it a bit less difficult than they may have first thought to get off the planet. The shuttle would receive a transmission. "Dual wing escort incoming, ground shuttle. We'll deal with those AA guns. Stay on course as much as possible."

Shortly after the shuttle reached a decent altitude, two Yamataian fighters flew by in the opposite direction, targeting the anti-air turrets. A few quick strafing runs, with a fair amount of evasive maneuvering on the part of Nocnimura and her wingman, coupled with Sebastian's gun taking out a few of the turrets, and the fighters were soon flying alongside the shuttle in escort positions.

"Targets neutralized. Let's get you back to the Ryujo for medical attention."

YSS Ryujo - Medbay

As he passed through the entrance of the Medbay, Zion nodded to the three receiving treatment from the automated system, then began setting up his own supplies and equipment to go along with what the medbay already contained. For him, this crew was unique amongst any other ship crew, to his knowledge. This assignment would call on a wide array of his abilities, both medical and technical.

He set up a table for his cybernetic tools in the event that Sebastian or himself, or any visitor with cybernetic augmentations, would need that kind of work. There was barely enough time to get the rest of his gear in place before more pilots started coming in. This time, thankfully, the injuries weren't as severe as a few he saw earlier. Many of them could be treated by automation.

"Tora, please take the Minkans, as needed. I'll deal with the others. When you're done with them, we need to finish prepping for the ground crew before they arrive."

Space Battle

Errowyn and rest of her comrades of fighter pilots soon had the enemy fighters fleeing toward the planet with Star Army Fighters blazing away at them. While the majority pounded the big ship's weapons systems and antennas while the Ryujo and the other ships of the battle group pounded away at it. Hellcat with her wing of two fighters, gave chase after two of the enemy diehards trying to lure them into their mother ship guns batteries.

"Take out the Weapon Batteries on the mother ship!" Hellcat snarled over her radio to her wing and putting words to action, left a trailing ruins of the Enemy batteries of guns as they blasted away at them with their Aether cannons, while they kept the pressure on the enemy fighters.

Another group of Star Army fighters suddenly appeared and took the ones that Hellcat and her wing was chasing. Leaving Hellcat and her wing to weaken the Mother Ship of the Enemy. Finally forcing it to retreat leaving a trail of debris and dead enemy fighters behind. Soon Hellcat recognized the signs of a big ship beginning it final death throes, gave the command to all the fighters within the vicinity of the enemy ship that it was going to blow up.

Star Army Fighters did an orderly withdrawal from the mortally dying ship, keeping each other covered from any surviving fighters as the enemy mother ship began to tear itself apart and finally explode, sending out a shockwave and debris in all directions. A lot of the closer fighters of Star Army tumbled out of control when the shockwave slammed into them in passing. Followed by the debris of once proud enemy mother ship.

"Meeerrrrrooooowwww!" Hellcat yowled over open tactical coms as she fought to bring her Kawarime under control. Smaller debris pinging off her hull.

A ragged cheer came from the surviving fighters that were still conscious and soon chasing down and help recover their fellow fighter pilots. Shuttles were once again called out to gather up the wounded and crippled fighters.

Broken Shuttle

Sebastian was rather glad to hear from those who were helping them to get back to the Ryujo. In fact, her relief was so great that, once they were clear, she collapsed right there on the console. She had lost too much blood and the stimulation that she took only lasted so long.

Shuttle Escort

With the main battle raging amongst Errowyn and the other fighters, the shuttle escort turned out to be relatively uneventful. One time, Nocnimura's wingman fired a single shot that took out a retreating enemy. Nocnimura hadn't even seen the opposing fighter. Benefits of genuine experience versus simulations.

Her wingman radioed instructions. "Escort one to shuttle. Have your injured ready for transport to the Medbay as soon as we arrive at the Ryujo. Escort two, the Ryujo's limited on medics. Be prepared to transport injured personnel yourself."

"Roger." was Nocnimura's response.

The shuttle docked along with the two fighters. When the doors opened, Nocnimura saw precisely what she expected on the faces of the others...shock. Apparently they either hadn't been informed that she was assigned to the Ryujo, or the previous knowledge didn't fully prepare them for the tentacles, carapace, tendrils and dark skin.

Her wingman, thankfully, had already seen her. He immediately grabbed the DPP that had been left behind by the medics when they were stationed in the shuttle bay, loaded Sebastian onto it, and headed for the Medbay. Nocnimura helped the other injured, reluctant as they seemed to go with a Mishhu, to get safely to the Medbay.

:: Ryujo ::

With the battle over with and enemy defeated or chased off. The more heavily armed fighters stayed out with the rescue shuttles in recovering Star Army Fighters and crew. Errowyn headed back to the Ryujo and landed in her assigned hanger. Once her Kawarime was in the waiting area, She finished up with her post flight checks as the canopy rose. She moved her Kawarime under the guidance of the deck crew into its slot.

She smiled at seeing her Kawarime faired better this time round with the enemy. Even though it was boasting a bunch of new scorched marks where some of the deadly energy had grazed the hull after getting through her shields. She patted her crafts hull as she floated down to the deck. She had a smile of the victor.

She took note of the new fighter in the slot reserved for another Fighter and pilot sharing her hanger bay space. She looked at the Deck Crew Chief that was in-charge of the maintaining her craft a bit questioning.

"Squidy looking pilot. Mishhu." He responded with a shudder. "But it checks out as one of the new pilots aboard Ryujo, Hellcat."

Errowyn smirked softly with a thoughtful expression. "Heard rumors that Star Army was going to field them for the war." She shook her head unsure how she felt after fighting the real Mishhu and minions in heavy warfare of space battles.

"Well... Hellcat. I dunno what to say. A lot of us had faced the nightmare of dealing with them. Its going to be hard to deal with one." He said accepting her results of her post-flight checks and began going through it.

"Just keep it away from '5'." Errowyn simply stated, making up her mind. "Can look, but definitely kept away till farther notice." She then smiled. "How did the rest of the Ryujo wing fair?"

"Not to good. Yours the only craft that fought from the beginning to last and still in fighting shape. Just re-armed and refreshed. New Comer's Craft still looks like it just came off the assembly line." He looked up at her with a smile. "Get some rest, Hellcat." Shooing her out of the hanger bay so his team of techs could get to work as he was already shouting orders on what needed the most attention on '5'.

Errowyn gladly turned '5' over to the Deck Chief as she scooted out from the hanger bay bone tired as exhaustion hit her like a sledgehammer. The Crash after the Adrenaline High of combat. But she still sported the smile of the victor, softened by exhaustion.

Medbay

With the benefit of bio-mechanical hearing, Zion detected the sound of the DPP along with hurried footsteps long before they reached the door to the Medbay. When the fighter pilots came in escorting the wounded shuttle passengers, he flew into action. He quickly took control of the DPP from the first pilot and brought Sebastian over to a treatment table. He gave directions as he worked, speaking first to the wingman. "Ittô Hei, when I lift her onto the table, take the DPP over to its station. Tora, please help stabilize the more seriously injured that shouldn't go to the ATU. Santô Hei Nocnimura, " At least one crew member was easy to identify without asking for their name. His study of who he would be serving with had come in handy, again. "take the less seriously injured over to the waiting area. When the ambulatory patients are completed we'll have a look at them."

Zion lifted Sebastian onto the treatment table and immediately cleaned her arm and administered a unit of blood, as that was her most obvious need, before he scanned her for specific injuries. With intense focus and calm, but also impressive speed, he went around the room helping to stabilize the other patients. Some he and Tora could line up in priority order for the AMTC to handle. Others, they would have to line up on their own sides of the room.

Soon enough, he made it back to Sebastian and began the process of cutting away the clothing around the areas he would have to do surgery. There were several external wounds from the crash, just as there were with several of the other crew members. These were easily cleaned and repaired with cellular spray. The internal wounds, however, took a more precise hand. Thankfully, nothing had been permanently damaged. He cut away some tissue that had been damaged, sutured the wound closed, and applied more cellular spray. His engineer's eye noticed that her cybernetic arm was seized in an unusual position, but he would have to leave that, for the time being. It was easier to deal with those types of issues when you could discuss them with the patient, and that wasn't a life threatening issue. He left her to recover and moved on to deal with the others.

Med Bay

Sebastian had remained unconscious throughout her transfers from the shuttle to the DPP to the med bay itself. She didn't feel any of what had happened to her, up until the doctor had started to probe at her more internal injuries. At that, her right hand created a fist, though of course her left arm couldn't move at all. Her jaw even tightened, but no sound came from her. She endured the pain as she knew that whomever was working on her would be done quickly enough. Her eyes slit open slightly, but she was unable to focus on anything. After a moment, and after the doctor had finished with her wounds, she went back into a restless sleep.

After a few hours, and at least a change of clear fluids going into her, she awoke slightly, looking around. Her bright green eyes were still dulled from healing, but she was able to ascertain that she was no longer in the shuttle. She slowly started from her toes up, moving each part of her body slightly to test just how much was still useful. Determining that her wounds were well enough healed for movement, she started to sit up, her left arm the only part of her unable to move. The dark-skinned woman didn't notice that her boots were even off of her feet by now, as well as the rest of her uniform and she was in a smock.

Medbay

Once the initial emergency was over, and everyone was where they belonged, there wasn't a lot for Nocnimura to do in the Medbay. The ones who were conscious certainly didn't seem like they appreciated her presence. She understood. Up until the opportunity came for her to be selected to receive this body, she'd felt the exact same way about any Mishhu. Beyond that, she was only, really, getting in the way while the medical staff worked. So, rather than create a difficult environment, she excused herself from the Medbay.

It took a little while to reorient herself with the ship. She knew the basic layout, but it wasn't engrained in her mind.

"Let's see..." She spoke to herself. "Medical Center, deck four. Crew cabins, deck three." She nodded, having affirmed her location in her mind, then headed for the closest zero-gravity passageway.

Once on deck three, she moved to locate the crew cabins, and selected one that didn't have anyone else stationed in it, an easy task considering the crew compliment wasn't at full capacity. She entered her selection into the computer, so the record would be set, then sat down on the lower bunk and took a deep breath.

"You're gonna have to get used to this Kawa..." She used her birth name, still not fully used to the new name that came with her new body. "This is your body, now. You were chosen for it, and you accepted it." She took another deep breath, and a thought crossed her mind that raised her confidence. "They've seen a little bit of what I can do in a pilot's seat. Just wait until they need me in ground combat."

YSS Ryujo

Sybil checked on all people who came back on from the Shuttle and helped them get to the Med Lab before leaving to the Bridge and once there called all fighters back as they were jumping out of this system to regroup the crew and to try and find out what they could about this group and that she wanted a chat with the Nightmare. When that was done she sat in the captain's chair and waited for the all clear that everyone was back onto the ship and that they could leave this ship and start a new mission under her orders.

:: Ryujo ::

Errowyn relaxed in her cabin on deck 5, cabin 1, where she had moved to be closer to the hangers and her Kawarime. She was looking at the roster of pilots and it seamed that even the YSS Ryujo had loss a bunch of pilots in the battle that ensued. She felt the loss, but the sting wasn't as sharp as she had conditioned herself during the tenure of the time spent on the YSS Heitien. She knew more was to come and being a senior pilot would be placed in charge of them.

Two fighters from Ryujo survived the fight. The newcomer and herself. She sighed and sent up the report that all fighters were aboard along with the rescue shuttles that were assigned to the Ryujo. Once that was done. She cleaned up a bit and put on fresh clothing and crawled into bed.

(OOC: JP between SmokeEmpress and Rhysis)

It had taken a good deal of time to get all the patients stabilized. There were plenty of wounded to go around. When the life threatening injuries had finally been addressed, it was time to move on to the less severe wounds. Several of those could be handled via automation, but for the sake of speeding up the process, Zion did a fair amount of work, himself.

There was one patient, in particular that would have no use for the AMTC. Sebatian's arm wasn't a medical issue. It was a mechanical one. Thankfully, that wasn't an issue for Zion. He'd been an engineer before an accident cost him more than half his body, which was now replaced by cybernetic implants. That was the event that inspired him to study medicine. Now, he was an experienced doctor as well as an engineer experienced in cybernetic work.

Zion approached Sebastian only a few minutes after she woke up. "I'd ask your name, but being the only other Nepleslian with a cybernetic implant on the ship kind of gives away who you are, Santo Hei Sebastian Wells." He smiled, warmly. "My name is Lucas Zion. Most people just call me Zion."

The dark-skinned Nepleslian studied the doctor that came to her with a smile on his face. Her own features were not as open, though her body language at least showed that she was not prone to being hostile to anyone that came at her. She was just, out of her own nature, wary of anyone until she had had a chance to get to know them.

With a small frown, she nodded a bit, not too surprised that she'd be easily recognizeable. With a small shrug as well, she replied, "Zion. Good to know. I'm not used to the ranks, so Sebastian works for me." After a moment, she narrowed her eyes and added, "You...stitched me up." Though she had made it a statement, there was clearly a question in her eyes and voice. Almost as if she were not sure.

He nodded. "Of course. You were in pretty bad shape, too. Took me a little while to get all the work done." He pointed to her arm. "Sorry about having to wait on the arm. There were quite a few in about the same condition as you."

He took a few steps to the side and picked up a large case, which he set on a stand next to the bed. "But, they've been dealt with now. So we can deal with that arm. You remember how long before the shuttle took off from the planet that you lost control of it?"

Her bright green eyes watched him as he moved, oddly enough too used to the instruments he was gathering for this particular process. "I think my arm froze just before we took off. I don't really remember too much. I had to take stimulants just to keep going even with repairing what I could of the shuttle itself."

As she spoke she felt along her shoulder, looking for the places where she could detatch it and frowned some as she pressed the buttons, but nothing happened. It was as if the whole arm had lost power and not just become immobile. "Damn. That's a complication."

Zion shrugged. "Not a big deal. I have to work on my own implants quite a bit, and not all of them can be removed. I'll just deactivate the pain sensors manually."

It wasn't all that much of a process for him. Each implant had its own set of access panels for just this sort of work. He carefully maneuvered her arm, taking care to not over-strain the muscles where it was attached. He opened the first panel and shut off the contacts for the pain sensors, noting that nothing visibly or audibly happened.

Reaching for a specialized voltage tester, he made a few contacts with various points in the arm, then nodded. "Well there's problem number one." He looked at the manufacturer's stamp on the inside of her arm. "Thankfully, I've got a few spare power cells for all the major manufacturers. I'll make sure to order a few more for yours, just in case."

Removing a burned out power cell wasn't, exactly, the most common thing he'd done with implants, but it wasn't the first time. Her old one was out soon enough. It would have to be disposed of properly. He then, carefully, replaced it with a new cell, secured it into place, and tested the voltage, again. "Alright. You've got power. Try it now."

Sebastian sat there quietly, watching as Zion worked on her arm as much as he could now. At his mention of turning off the pain sensors, she frowned in confusion. As far as she knew, she wasn't able to do that! At least, that knowledge was kept from her when her father had her arm made and grafted to her shoulder.

"Turn off the pain sensors?" She pressed the buttons necessary and released the arm from her shoulder, blinking as, for the first time, it didn't hurt to remove it! "How did you...?" She looked up at him, wonder in her eyes, for she had tensed up at not quite sure what to expect. Now that the arm was removed, all that was seen was the scar tissue of her removed arm and the collar that held the arm itself in place.

"Pretty simple matter, really." The cyborg shrugged. "A lot of implants have the pain sensors able to be controlled like an additional muscle. It's useful at times, but you've got to be careful not to just leave them off. Ultimately all you're doing is turning off the registers for feeling. If you have to grab something hot or do something else that wouldn't, actually, damage the implant, it's not a big deal, but it's easy to over-extend its durability if you can't feel anything."

He took the arm and opened up another panel, running a scanner over various points as he spoke. "If you'd like, and if you're willing to go without it for a while, I should be able to modify it so you can control the sensors without having to open up the arm and switch them on and off. Though, " He glanced around the room. "that should probably wait until we're in a little more peaceful conditions.
"

Sebastian's features closed up at his seeming to think nothing of this. She didn't blame him nor did she think ill of him. It just disconcerted her of the fact that her father had opted to keep this kind of information from her. Even as she worked on her own arm, or allowed others to, she was never told of the ability to turn off the pain receptors and so, each time she took it off, it hurt. But she had learned to deal with the pain.

As he started to scan her arm, she listened and gave a small nod to him, "That would be...welcome. Hopefully, when we have some time, that would be worth looking into." She tugged at the gown she now wore and made a bit of a face. "Mind if I change as you work on that?"

Zion was focused on his work, at the moment. The ability to make conversation while doing so had only come about in the last couple years, mandated by an observation from a long-term physician that his bedside manner was...lacking. He nodded in response to her question.

"Sure, I'll take this out to the main treatment room while you change. Just open up the door whenever you're done." He gave her another smile, then took her arm, with his equipment, out to the next room.

Once he had left the room, Sebastian hopped off the bed and got to work. Someone had brought in a set of clean clothes for her, which she was grateful for. After checking the adjoining bath, she sighed in relief at the chance to get fully clean and did so without further ado. She was used to doing things with one arm for, though her cybernetic arm was relatively water resistant, it wasn't water proof and so she'd have to take her shower without it.

Once clean and dressed, she remained shoeless as she opened the door to indicate that she didn't need privacy anymore and sat back on the bed to wait for the doctor to finish with her arm and bring it in. During that time, Sebastian laid down, for she was growing rather weary. She was still recovering and her body was trying to tell her to rest. So she closed her eyes and waited, promptly falling asleep.

When he managed to get the appropriate section of the arm open, finding the issue was a relatively small matter. A bolt had come loose, locking the adjoining mechanism into place when it wedged up against the protruding bit of alloy. He removed the bolt, repositioned the arm, and put a new bolt in place.

After finishing the work, he brought the arm back into the room and set it on the table where his equipment had been. He left quitely, allowing her to sleep, and went out to check on the other patients still in the Medbay.

Crew Cabins

When the notification came in that the captain wanted to see her, Nocnimura couldn't help but feel a little anxious. No, she hadn't done anything wrong, but the captain was a Chusa, she was not only a Santo Hei, but she was a brand new one, at that. Thus far all she'd managed to do was take out a couple surface guns, escort a shuttle and carry some wounded to the medbay.

Still, it wasn't all that difficult to figure out why Sibyl wanted to see her. So, with a deep sigh, she stood from her bunk and headed to the bridge, pondering what would come of this conversation as she neared the bridge.

It seemed to take forever to make her way through the passageways. Nevertheless, she did arrive. She bowed in respect and addressed her superior crisply. "Santo Hei Nocnimura reports as ordered, ma'am."

Medbay

Zion looked around at the medbay and gave a contented nod. After a rush of patients was over, he'd always found it nice to look around at the once again freshly cleaned facility and reflect on the lives he'd helped. Part of his habit was to check the time. Knowing when he'd started, how many patients he'd handled and what time he finished gave him his average. At two and a half patients per hour, this one was a bit slower than it had been at the hospital. He blamed his lack of familiarity with the facility.

The time also gave him something else...knowledge that it was time to eat.

"Tora, I'm going to the mess hall. Deck three, if you're interested. Leave the system on automatic if you choose to join me."

The cyborg made his way through the ship's passageways and to the mess hall. He received several strange looks. Apparently the crew who were present didn't know their new doctor had a body that was more mechanical than biological. Nevertheless, he smiled warmly at those who chose to make eye contact with him, then went and got himself some food before finding a table with only one other person at it and taking a seat.
