$15 Character Artworks from Zairyo

Do you remember Zairyo, the artist that did tons of early SARP art for us? Well I contacted him today and he's offering us some really sweet prices.

Here's what he sent me:

OK, so as you may have seen, I've been doing full color "sketches" for the past year or so. These are cheaper than the digitally inked counterparts as they are less demanding. (I'm basically jumping over a whole step with this method and the finished piece is quite similar)

Here's a better way to explain it:

First the rough sketch as always: http://i5.minus.com/i39nEfXocNCIO.jpg (rest of the samples are from a different commission, I'm using this one 'cause it's the only one I kept online. Mostly 'cause I like it even though it didn't get a pass)

Second the sketch itself: http://i1.minus.com/iUg4e5XedMyAa.jpg This is ready for color.

Third is base color and basic shading: http://i3.minus.com/ibuJK0KLB91nNF.jpg

And the final piece: http://i3.minus.com/ibwkvtR9o5aOC2.jpg

These are $15 - $20 each based on complexity, don't see Star Army characters being over $15 since I've drawn them before. While that piece has a background, it's just something generic I threw there so there's no extra cost for that kind of background.

If you want one of these, let me know. Here's the info I need:

Code:
Character Name:
Character wiki page URL:
Character wiki page up-to-date? (Y/N):
Uniform/Clothing Reference URL:
Notes: (Pose, expression, props, etc)

Who is paying, you or Star Army?

If Star Army is paying, answer the following too:

Have you donated to Star Army? (Y/N):
Does your character have existing art? (Y/N):
How long has this character been actively played?: (X Years/X Months)
Plot Character Is In:
Plot's Most Recent Plot Audit Grade:

IMPORTANT: Please read the following notes from the artist:

I don't know Star Army like the back of my hand, I'm very familiar with it yes but I don't know enough to the point of grasping which rank is which, what uniform goes with what or any of that. If the character has previous art (especially if the previous art isn't mine) I take that art as the main reference. When I post the rough sketch I expect all the corrections to be posted with links when necessary (like Wes did here https://stararmy.com/roleplay-forum/...artworks-from-zairyo.16638/page-4#post-243463 ) if after I post the rough I get approval instead of corrections, I move on to the other phase. Getting corrections after approval means I would have to start over. That delays me a lot, so please keep that in mind, I wish I was good enough to do it like a machine but I'm not, I do my best on every request and doing it twice is problematic 'cause it doesn't look the same even when traced.

Illustrating and designing are not the same thing. I'm charging $15 for illustrations, meaning a design or clear concept should exist. This character is the one exception to the rule (just 'cause I want to keep moving) Any future request to design will have to either pay for the design or change it to something that exists.

Power Armor is extra. It MIGHT not be too bad to draw, but it is a pain to paint and in either case not $15. Too complex for that amount. Besides you're better off hiring someone that draws mech stuff if you really want that one to look as good as it should.

I've heard that some people have complaints about that character's facial animations but from what I've seen she's pretty adorable.

Suvi gets a pass from me when she shouldn't, just for two things. She's voiced by Katy Townsend who voiced Cait in Fallout 4. Cait was my most used companion because of her lock pick ability, therefore I've heard that voice way too much, it's very familiar. The other point being she's based off Kelly Chambers and I still feel guilt for not rescuing her on time in my first playthrough of Mass Effect 2. She wasn't my character's love interest and neither was Cait, but still those two things bring a lot to Suvi as a character, especially knowing as little as I know about her. Which judging by some critics reaction, she isn't that great and seems to be there just as a developer's personal agenda. (not sure if true, agendas and ideals are often confused)

As to how Andromeda managed to make every Asari ugly is beyond repugnant.

Warning, bad joke coming up

Council: We need to consider the preservation of our way of life, we will be sending our people to the Andromeda galaxy in arks

TJ Laser: What are you going to do with the Asari?

Council: They're going too

TJ Laser: Just send the ugly ones

EDIT:
I watched the whole romance and wow, that script... You can't patch bad writing and the animations ruin every single moment. Yea this game is garbage, wish they sold the multiplayer separately, that looks fun.

Well, I'd like to apply for this. But I'll pay him pretty good. Zairyo did my mecha and soldier armor so

I actually bought the game at full price - they just patched the facial animations, so it's not so bad. The game is more stable now with a lot less crashes as well.

Late Edit:

Okay so all that stuff I posted approximately a few hours ago, ignore it.

Let me get you the measurements you desire for Yuzuki. I'll send you a packet.

Here are two updated packets of information;

Character Name: Miharu Yuzuki

Character wiki page URL: Character Page Here

Character wiki page up-to-date? (Y/N): Y.

Uniform/Clothing Reference URL: https://wiki.stararmy.com/doku.php?id=species:neo_mishhuvurthyar:nightmare

Notes: (Pose, expression, props, etc): Yuzuki is what the military usually refers to as a “mustang” – a high ranking enlisted who went officer, with a great deal of experience under her belt. She is determined, fierce, and courageous, and the pose should reflect that.

She was recently turned into a Nightmare as part of the current YSS Junpu plotline, and I would like her depicted as such. This is very much an anger and vengance-driven character, so have fun with that.

Who is paying, you or Star Army?: Me.

And since you asked for a more traditional style bit of measurements and the like, I sat down and condensed the paragraphs on her page into this:
Physical Characteristics
  • Height: 6'8”
Weight: ~300lbs (This is mostly muscle and the weight of subdermal armor)
  • Measurements: 36/25/36 (Bra: 36C) (Here for proportions; they were originally on someone about a foot shorter)
  • Build and Skin Color: Yuzuki has always had an athletic build or a runner's build, healthy without being particularly bulky. As a nightmare, Yuzuki is tall and lithe, but packing a lot of heat.

Eyes and Facial Features: Yuzuki's iris are a light, icy blue, while the "whites" of her eyes are a stygian black.
Ears: Yuzuki has shorter, almond-shaped, elf-styled ears.
Hair Color and Style: Yuzuki currently wears her hair long, about shoulder length, and braids her bangs, as is common in Ralt. There has always been speculation about whether her hair is red or orange; it deepens in color the longer it gets, giving her orange roots, but somewhat redder hair overall.
Distinguishing Features: Yuzuki is a Nightmare, and bears both the dermal plating, and the subdermal armor of her current species. Notably, she does not manifest tentacles on a regular basis, or wear a uniform; she never leaves the ship, and wouldn't dare show herself in front of any other officer without good cause. She uses her holographic abilities to speak to them visually at distance, when necessary.

There is colored art on the character page you can lift the colors off of, except where conflicting.

She recently became a Nightmare because of some... interesting player decisions. Lol. Well, anyway, that's why I left the note to PM me when this rolled around. Didn't know how far we would actually get.

How would you like payment? Paypal?
