SARP members will be able to vote on these later. To nominate a character for an award, please include the number of the award and the character(s) you wish to nominate.
Well, let's see here...I don't really read much outside the plots I'm directly involved in, mostly due to lack of time and the truly MASSIVE plotship archives most of you all have built up! So, I give this list based on what I have heard or experienced myself, so many of these may not be up to par. They'll also seem kinda self-serving at times, but if Jimmy can do it, then so can I!
(I'm...half-kidding on that last part!)
A lot of these nominations will include notes, and what is said should be taken in jest before being taken seriously. I know it can be difficult telling the two apart, so use liberal applications of
Hanlon's Razor if something strikes you wrong, and feel free to ask for clarification via PM or in IRC. Just sayin'.
Here goes...
CHARACTER AWARDS NOMINATONS
1. Best Player Character, Male
-- The most annoying, trouble-making, self-confident, easy-going character I've seen besides possibly Luca (who I guess is an NPC, not a PC?)...
Rico Sanroma. Co-nominating
Kokuten Chiaki with him, for...*checks* yeah, pretty much the complete opposite reasons : )
2. Best Player Character, Female
-- The one I hear most about is
Suku the Demon Medic (justkiddingdon'tkillme!). Is she a player character? I fear for her crew sometimes...how they end up repaired and not in worse condition is a miracle.
3. Best PC Portrayal of Their Race
--
Dream Zero Zero. I still miss the character and her player. Della seriously should be at least a co-Faction Manager of the Freespacers, if not
the FM.
4. Best Display of Occupational Skill
-- Tweak, who at various times has demonstrated that she is undeniably an engineer at heart.
5. Most Charismatic PC
6. Most Interesting PC
-- Knowing more about my own PCs than any others definitely makes me biased here. Nel, though, for her potential.
7. Most Misunderstood PC
-- Morris. Just in the last episode alone, how many times were that guy's intentions or meanings mistaken? At least two times stick out in my mind, but there were definitely more.
8. Most Quirky PC
-- Morris, Nel, and Tweak. Everyone has their quirks, but those three have them in spades.
9. Most Original PC
-- Dream.
10. Most Deviant PC
-- Shadow.
11. Most Badass PC
-- Silic. That guy just keeps going, even though every time I hear about him, he sounds like he's the universe's punching bag.
12. Most Influential PC
13. Most Underestimated PC
-- Lenwe. He went from being a slave to running a sizable operation. Also, Carina. She's a kid, but she is going to be something important, judging by the way she's growing up.
14. Best Politician
15. Best Strategist
16. Best Seductress
17. Best Combatant
18. Best Good PC
19. Best Evil PC
20. Best Couple PC
-- Again, very biased: Tweak and Kokuten.
21. Most Unlikely Couple
NON-PLAYER CHARACTER AWARDS
22. Best Non-Player Character, Male
23. Best Non-Player Character, Female
24. Best NPC Portrayal of Their Race
-- Melisson.
25. Best Display of Occupational Skill By An NPC
26. Most Charismatic NPC
--
Robert Davis. The guy was voted the first leader of the DIoN for a reason, but it didn't hurt that he carried himself well, but also got along well with children (*remembers Carina's meeting with Davis*).
27. Most Interesting NPC
-- Kess. There's something going on there, but I can't seem to find time in-character to dig it up.
28. Most Misunderstood NPC
-- Melisson.
29. Most Quirky NPC
-- Lady Mistwalker.
30. Most Original NPC
-- The giant larval Muck Shambler from
[Episode 2] Little Problems.
31. Most Deviant NPC
32. Most Badass NPC
33. Most Influencial NPC
--Ketsurui Yui. She still is a driving force in Yamataian and galactic policy even if she is no longer a PC.
34. Most Underestimated NPC
35. Best Politician NPC
-- Davis again. He had the calm and thought to handle interfactional relations while his nation was still young.
36. Best Strategist NPC
37. Best Seductress NPC
38. Best Combatant NPC
-- Captain Bell 2.0 was a challenge to fight. The fact that she was straight-up insane was just as much a detriment to her as it was an asset, though.
39. Best Good NPC
--
Troy. Couldn't think of anyone in particular that stood out, so I figured I'd fit her in the running somewhere : ) Not saying everyone is bad, just that they're all about the same level.
40. Best Evil NPC
-- Melisson. I haven't even read her storyline, but I've read her wiki and she fits the bill. Her reputation precedes her.
41. Best NPC Couple
--
George and
Lenny. Unless you mean romantic couple, in which case...I got nothin'.
STAFF, GM, and MOD TEAM
42. Friendliest Staff Member
-- Kokuten.
43. Most Helpful Staff Member
-- Doshii.
44. Most Knowledgable Staff Member
-- Wes.
45. Most Patient Staff Member
-- Anyone on the mod team. I can't imagine the stuff they put up with before laying the banhammer on someone.
46. Most Active Staff Member
47. Best Editor
-- Moonman's JP Editing Guide is still on my hard drive : )
48. Most Involving Game Master
-- Aendri and Jimmy are trying with the current Fort Ready class, and I think they're doing pretty well keeping everyone involved.
49. Most Inspiring Game Master
-- I've stuck with Moonman longer than any other.
50. Most Descriptive Game Master
51. Most Active Game Master
52. Deadliest Game Master
53. Most Vigilant IRC Moderator
54. Most Helpful Regular Member
55. Most Supportive Faction Manager
-- Kokuten.
SETTING
Please include link to the URL.
56. Best Location
-- In terms of originality...The Viscous Chicken. In terms of "I'd like to be there"...probably Neo Kohana. For the moment, it seems pretty safe.
57. Best Starship
-- I'm still partial toward the
Traveler-class transport. As close to a Firefly-class as I could manage in this setting.
58. Best Planet
-- Neo Kohana, for the reason posted above.
59. Most Useful Item
Agreeing with Jimmy: A Towel. Beyond that:
KINESIS : P Imagine that, though...a length of fabric is being rated beyond a nano-scale system that could
create one.
60. Best Uniform
--
Type 31 Working Uniform.

61. Best Character Biography
62. Best Use of Wiki Formatting

The Freespacers wiki article.
63. Best User Page on the Wiki

-- Kampfer.
ROLEPLAY THREADS

67. Best One-Liner Post
68. Best Death Scene
--
Captain Bell's death. Classic slasher-style return before being
taken out for the last time.
69. Best Combat Scene
--
70. Best Love Scene
71. Most Humorous Scene
--
Morris' big misunderstanding moment (also nominated below).
72. Most Disturbing Scene
-- Of all? Probably something involving Shadow's Horrors. I never quite made it through that story arc. The worst I've been personally involved in was blowing up Tweak's hand with a grappling hook in "That Sinking Feeling" (see the following posts in the next link).
73. Best "Uh Oh" Moment
-- Bell doesn't quite reach minimum safe distance.

As Tweak bounded away, Bell was also quick to recover. The Unique turned her slightly dented helmet back upwards and shot out her arm to grasp a hold of Tweak, missing by inches as the neko fled. With her targets heading towards the unfinished section of the room, Bell rose to a kneeling position and gritted her teeth back into a grin, poising herself to continue pursuit. As the Unique Captain pushed off with her good leg, however, she stumbled. Bell looked back at her leg with a strange stare, as though unable to contemplate why her leg wouldn't operate at full function aside from the obvious wound she had sustained earlier.
Bell brought her attention back as she watched Tweak pull something out of the server node in the center of the room. She couldn't help but let out a short laugh as she attempted to rise again. Bell managed to make it a few feet away from her small cluster of explosives before looking back at them, her laugh withering back into short bursts as her chest heaved with her breaths. The woman then glanced back as she watched Tweak and Claire aim to escape the explosion, muttering a single curse under her breath before the seven disk-like explosives detonated in unison.
-- Also, probably more deserving,
Morris' big misunderstanding moment. (Read that entire page. He faceplants.)
74. Best Dramatic Scene

She shook her head...that wasn't important right now. What had she wanted to talk to Kess about? Tears started forming in her eyes again, but she managed to keep them back. "I-I-I'm s-sorry. I j-just wanted t-t-to ask you...did I do well? On t-t-the mission. Did I do it right?" The neko glanced up at Kess from under the fringe of hair that protruded from beneath the hat. She'll be honest...Dream would be too, but she'd try to cover anything wrong with a good word...but I need to know the truth. Did I do it right?
At first, Kess looked like she might just explode from anger, her cheeks wracking themselves thin as she pressed her lips into a scowl. The Savtech held it in, however, visibly swallowing away her rage in order to answer the teary-eyed security neko. In the end, Kess found that she couldn’t answer Tweak…not right away. “…why the hell are you crying,” Kess said under her breath, crossing her arms and looking away from Tweak’s pitiful form…not that she was looking very well herself.
Why was she crying? Tweak swallowed. How could she say anything without chancing someone hearing her? As far as she could see or hear, no one was. But..."I found out someth-thing today that I wish I didn't. But I don't know if I want to forget it. If I should f-f-forget it." She looked up at Kess again. The projected image looked so tired...Tweak was tempted to ask what was wrong, to ask if she was bothering Kess. But she was scared that the answer might be yes, and she needed her previous question answered first.
“Yes, I know about the nekos,” Kess stated blankly. She paused for a moment after that, thinking off in her distant, Savtech-only world, not able to bring herself to look back at Tweak for the duration. “…it’s good to remember your successes…and your failures. That way you know to avoid repeating them.”
Tweak closed her eyes tightly. No, that wasn't what she was asking! "No, no..." She shook hear head. Frustration started building as she couldn't seem to figure out how to say what she wanted to. And why was Kess looking away? "Two different questions!" Were they? She was concerned over her performance in the mission because the nekos were stupid. Even though tactically they weren't stupid...not exactly. "They were programmed! I was programmed. I had to be." Tweak shook her head again. "Just look at me and tell me: Did I do well?" Her voice was getting louder the longer she spoke, but only in the sense that by the time the neko finished she was back at normal speaking volume after starting at a whisper.
”P…Programmed?” Kess snapped her stare back to Tweak, her face slowly contorting into a bizarre mixture of seething anger and sadness not exhibited before. “You think you have it bad? Huh?! Why don’t you try being born as a box, built to serve others and only able to talk to others through a volumetric screen! How’s that for goddamned programmed?!”
Kess’ image immediately splintered off, disappearing before Tweak and leaving her alone in the hallway.
75. Most Realistic Military Scene
76. Best Thread Title
-- The Epic Tale of Man and Toilet, by Doc Tomoe in the Cluster forum. (Subject matter: Not so epic.)
80. Most Historic RP Thread
The Genocide threads, specifically the thread that described the attacks on the
Great Lighthouse. Now, hear me out...
Strictly speaking, from an objective standpoint, that thread and associated threads, are one of the most historically significant recent events (even if it has been nearly four years) because those attacks changed the entire course of Freespacer history, as well as their view of galactic politics. For good or bad, especially depending on the point of view you approach the whole incident from, the fallout from this incident affected nearly ever faction in the setting even today, many characters, and even had ripples OOCly, so there is much to say that the thread and the threads related to it are historically significant to the site.
