Arild Bard read his borders feeling chastised. He had to get a move on, he got the message. Well all the colonists had arrived, so there was no reason to actually hang around. But he would have to catch up on lost time. He really did feel bad about his superiors effectively telling him he was doing a bad job.

"AI is there any reason we can't leave Nepleslia now?"

"None what so ever. The last batch of colonists arrived three hours ago." The AI responded calmly.

Arild took offence at this. If only the AI had told him that three hours ago they'd have been on the way. He sighed,

"Can you put me through to the Elysian scum? I need to ask him about the drive systems."

"What can I do for you sire?" Ephesus' voice came from the holographic image of the scientist who appeared out of nowhere.

"Hello scum, I was wondering what the Hyper-spatial Fold drive would do to the ship." Arild asked, not unkindly. He didn't have any real problem with Ephesus, no more than he had with any Elysian.

"Well I wouldn't advise it for any extended period, the ship isn't built for great distances using the Hyper-spatial Fold drive. I'd say that we could go maybe fifteen minutes without any real problems."

"Alright. Make whatever preparations you need for Hyper-spatial Fold. You are dismissed." Arild waved his hand dismissively.

Ephesus waved enthusiastically and disappeared.

"AI get in touch with the engineering section and tell them to get ready for the Hyper-spatial Fold Drive to kick in."

"Alright."

Arild sat in his study and worked on the list of personnel that Taisho Ketsuri Chinomai Minori had ordered him to do. It wasn't easy, there where so many people on the Destiny! But he managed to make a significant dent in the amount of work he had to do.

"Ephesus says that he is ready, as is the engineering department." The AI appeared in the room and informed Arild.

"Thank you. Can you open up an open communication to everyone in the ship?"

"Comunications open."

"Attention. We are leaving Nepleslia, to arrive at Yamatai. Due to the recent attack of Hoshi no Iori by the Mishhuvurthyar means time is of the essence. Thus we are going to use the Hyper Space Fold Drive, which will get us to Yamatai in just over 13 minutes. However the drive does not work brilliantly with this ship, so it may be a little turbulent. Keep your thoughts on those lost in the battle of Hoshi no Iori. Taisho out." Arild gestured for the AI to cut the communication.

"AI, engage the drive."

The AI engaged the gravitic drive to gain enough speed, and then the enormous form of the Destiny seemed to fade out of existence, as it entered Hyper Space.

Only 13 minutes later, barely enough time for Arild to have a shower (which he did), the Destiny arrived at Yamatai. The AI had been busy making sure everyone knew they where coming, and had also sped up the boarding of the remaining colonists and enlisted from Yamatai. They had planned to have three days here. Now they had all of five hours.

Arild opened up a communication to Yamatai Self Defence Force.

"I know this might be a bad time, given the redirection of troops due to the Mishhuvurthyar invasion, but I would like to request an escort fleet to accompany the Destiny. We are no equipped to handle all the situations we may find in the unexplored territories. NovaCorp is already sending a Hephaestus class Fleet Yard to accompany us, but that is not really sufficient."

Arild opened up a communication to the members of StarArmy and NovaCorp.

"Alright people, we are around Yamatai. After a five hour stop for the boading of the remaining people, we are leaving for the main body of our mission. Settling down time is now over. Security and MP's I trust you to keep order around the colonists. I know this won't be easy, but I'm sure it is within your abilities. As for fighter pilots, mecha pilots, I'm sorry that you don't have much to do currently, but that is part of service, keep well trained, and we may arrange some events to keep you occupied. Engineers, you're doing a good job.

Many of you have families here, and I tell you now, resist the temptation to go down and visit them. You do not have time. I don't care if you think you do, you don't. No exceptions. However this is a perfect time to give your good byes to your families. You'll be able to talk to them later due to the miracles of FTL communications, but before long we'll be beyond Real Time conversations. Take advantage of this. In five hours I want to see all of you in the central conferance hall. No exceptions. Be there, or give me a really good reason. Taish out."

Arild felt very sad. This was partially due to the fact that he had no one to contact, no family, and few freinds. Most of the people he would consider freinds where posted on far away ships. He sighed. He was so lonely sometimes.

(OOC: I would really like to see some messages to families on this thread. This is one of the gestures that shows that you're involved. If your character is from Nepleslia, that is fine. The distance is small enough to all real time conversations, or just write a letter.)

Pausing to listen to the ship-wide announcement, Leiko sighed to herself at the thought of contacting others, and wondering just who she had to contact. Actually, the more she thought about it, the more lonely she felt. That fiasco in training had driven out some of her desire to meet and befriend others, to trust, and now, when given the final chance to contact friends or family, she was without anyone to contact.

With a slight sigh, she continued on her way, deciding that here, on the Destiny, it would be better to find friends, and not just a group of friendly acquaintances.

Henako looked up and listened to the captains order. "Forget it AI, I have a job to do now." Turning round quickly Henako ran to his room. He walked in and picked up all of the things he needed, including a pad of paper and a pen. He made sure he had all his equipment, and then looked over himself again, for the third time.

Henako walked quickly down to the module door. "What bay should I go to AI?" Henako asked. He stepped into the module, "Bay level please." The module moved quickly and Henako was on the bay level in seconds. He stepped out. People where every where. He began to walk down the corridor and looked in to each of the bays, trying to see if he could spot Mai Tong.

"There he is." Henako thought. He walked in to Bay 15. There where a few people in there, it looked like not many people had arrived yet. Henako walked over to one of tables and sat down. Time to write a letter.

Dear mum, dad and little sis.

I'm well, how are you all? I have only been on the Destiny three days and have already done lots of things. I am really enjoying things here. Also don't worry because I am not going to have to go to the battle, they say they won't let use. We are on the Destiny for a reason, to stay away from battles. I'm safe. Mum, I have missed your food. Though the food here is nice, they have a bar and everything. Dad, I miss talking to you about things, I have meet friends already though. One called Leoni, she is also in the infantry, and in my devision. Though she had to leave today because of a family thing. I don' know why. Sis, how are things? I hope you are keeping to your studys, they are important you know. Well I have to go. Colonist are now arriving.

Love you all very very much.

Henako xxxxx

Henako put the letter into a envelope which he then put into his pocket. There where shouts that the ships where coming in to Bay 19 Henako ran out of the door and ran down the corridor until he reached Bay 19. The room was huge.

Roken was outside the inn rubbing the side of his face, security had gotten controll of the fight. Roken had heard the announcment he realy didnt care much for it he had no family to write to, Roken paused and felt a sudden sadness wash over him he had no one to send to he wouldnt be remembered back home, his hold gang probably thinks hes dead. Roken stept onto the elevator and whent to his appartment he layed down on his bed, he closed his eyes for a moment he could almost make out his mother and father together they were so distant, he tried to reach out to them but they faided away leaving him alone again as tears ran down his eyes.

Masako barely listened to the announcement about writing messages to one's family as she sat in the ready room next to the mech bay. She was in the room with a few other SA pilots and she had gotten to know a few of them. Though she still didn't feel like joining in on their little game of cards. No, she was too on edge for that.

Her last dealings with Mishu had nearly been her last. If it hadn't have been for a crazy idea and some large amount of bluffing, Muraki and her would have either been dead or slaves.

And now that the SMX had Hoshi no Iori, Masako shuddered to think what would happen to anyone captured by those tentacled monsters.

She sat on a bench, alone from those around her. Most of the people that passed her glanced at her from the corners of thier eyes, but she paid them no mind. She was to busy writing her letter like everyone was told to do. With her Katana draped across her lap, she smoothed out the red legs of her Hakama. She really didn't like the pistol she had, always finding it bothersome, especially when she sat. But she had to have it with her. Reaching up, she scratches the scar on her cheek, more of a habit when she didn't know what to do then anything else. Then she began to write, hesitant at first, but then with more conviction.

Dear Doctor,

I know, It has been a while since I have written you anything, but that was out of fear of a censorship from the training officers I was under. I am able to write now, as it was a order from the Captain of the YSS Destiny. I have been located to the ship as a observer of sorts. But no one really knows of this. The reason given to the officials of the Star Army of Yamatai is that I am here in the intrests of the orginization, to see if there is anything to this mission they are performing, and if a possible partnership can be forged in this undertaking. While of course I will keep a eye on things and how operations are run, I will of course perform my true duty to my best ability.

With that being said...I have mixed feelings with this task. While I am elated that this is to be my first mission, and my chance to show those higher up in the Ketsurui Zaibatsu organization that I am fully capable of anything they ask of me...I am wary. I feel that this will be rather dull and pointless. Why not send another officer? Maybe a ambassador or someone else of better standings? To show them that we have a real intrest to throw the idea of our true intentions off. Regardless, I am glad that I have been given the chance to prove my worth to those in the family and organization. I look forward to hearing from you.
Yours in Service,
Jo Midori

Finally finished with her letter, she sealed it up and moved over from where she stood, placing the letter into it, before she walked back to the bench and sat down. Flipping open her book, she looked at where she had marked her page. Sighing softly, she thought back to the rather rude inspection just this morning when she had come onto the ship. She had just arrived earlier this morning, and really hadn't even had the time to go to her room. She had been looking for a place to sit down and write and read all morning, and now she had found a place.

"It isn't all that bad here. I just wish I could have found a park or something..."

She twitched her ears, yawning again before she busies herself with her book. She could read for hours on end, but she knew it would be only so long until the captain wanted to speak, so she tried to get as much of the book in as she could before the captain began.

"This should be a fun little trip"

Carlos sat back on the couch, relaxing after the bar-room riot / brawl he had been through. He had a butterfly bandage across his brow and a few bruises on his arms, but he was really no worse for wear.

Everyone in the louge seemed to stop and listen as the announcement over the PA came, urging them to write or call home. After the PA clicked off the hustle and bustle of the lounge resumed as if it had never been interrupted at all.

He wondered if he should write home to his folks...were they even still alive? Politics moved fast in his old hometown, for all he knew their whole neighborhood could be a bombed out crater by now. He'd only given his parents a terse note when he left, repaying them for years of neglect and apathy towards himself and his brother.

'No. I'm dead for all they care. One less mouth to feed to them...I've got my own life now, away from them.'

Apesael had managed to limp his own sorry way back to his room before he heard the captains message. He grunted, in his tender state, every word that the captain uttered felt like a nut hammer being driven into his skull. He did like the idea of communicating with his parents again. He missed them, even through their eccentric nature.

He sat down heavily on the couch, and fell asleep. He couldn't help himself, he normally kept himself awake telepathicly, something which he could no longer do, and the events of that day had been so tiring. When he awoke he realised he only had half an hour to get to the conferance hall, although he felt much better for his rest.

"AI can I dictate a message?" He asked the air.

"Of course. As an added bonus, I'll record and send it." The AI responed smugly. Apesael sighed, trust the AI to pick up on a thing like that.

"Nevermind, I think I'm going to have a real time conversation instead. Can you create a link between the screen here and Emrys House, Ketsuri no Iori?"

"Of course." The screen lit up and Apesael was met with an image of his mother. It took her a few seconds to notice him.

"Oh hello Apesael. It's nice to see you." She said in a somewhat pleased voice, putting down a cup she was drinking from, and fixing Apesael in the eyes. It was a habit of hers to keep eye contact throughout a conversation, never shaking, and rarely blinking.

"It is good to see you to Mother. It has been too long." Apesael responded, matching her eyes. His voice had undertones of sadness, and happiness to see her.

"Well you know you can come back at any time. But if your father couldn't convince you to come back, I doubt I'm going to have any luck." A small accent at the side of her mouth, and a almost unnoticable lightness around her voice decorated the statement.

"Sorry, but I'm happy with being independant currently." Apesael had a small smile "I just wanted to talk to you and father before the Destiny leaves."

"Well you chose a really bad time if you want to spoke to your father. He's gone to try and arrange a buisness transaction with the Fenyaro. He's unreachable currently." Her voice gave little away, but Apesaels ear, trained in listening to his mother, could pick up traces of concern and condesation.

"That's a shame. But I'm still happy talking to you." He said happily.

"That's sweet. Well how have you been?"

"Quite good thanks. Except for last night a man ripped through my brain and restructured it." He said dryly.

"Oh really? Who was that?"

"Sensei Omoi. He's my new telepathic tutor."

"Omoi? I think I recognise that name. I might have to ask your father about that. Anyway that wasn't very nice of him, has it affected your abilities?" His mother, while possessing no psionic powers of her own, new a great deal about them, indeed was almost an authaurity on the subject, and had guided him when he was young.

"Yes, very much so. I can't use it on myself anymore, but my extrenal ability has been increased massively."

"Sounds like your inner barriors have been destroyed, combined with some extra ones introduced. Don't over extend yourself dear. However it is annoying. We specificly turned your gift inwards." She tut tutted under her breath.

"I suppose. It feels like someone has simply taken a blender to my brain." He said in his dry voice.

"Anyway, I'm glad your well, and wish you well in this little expedition. Look after yourself." The screen went blank. His mother never said more than was really neccesary, and never spoke much when not fact to face.

Apesael sighed. Well that was the best he could hope from a conversation with his family.

Arild stood in the huge conferance hall, at the front on the daias, it was designed to accomodate 35,000, more than enough for the enlisted, although he would probably need two speeches to talk to the colonists. He was collecting his thoughts before his speech to the enlisted, something apropriate before they began their journey. After around twenty minutes people began to mill in before the place was filled with as many as was need. He began to speak in his quiet but carrying voice, as it washed over to the people present they stopped their small conversations.

"I think you know why we're here. Not just here in this room, you are here because I asked you, but here on this ship, on this mission. We have been selected to bring the burning torch, the illuminating presence of Yamatai, to the deepest, darkest corners of this galaxy, to discover new systems, to colonise, and to ensure our survival! And we have been trusted to look after this ship, to make sure that things go smoothly. And they haven't so far have they? We've been through the works: evil AI's trying to destroy us, riots, the only thing we haven't had is a break down of the coffee machine." This brought a laugh, apart from Ephesus, who apeared to be mortified by the suggestion.

"But we've managed to get through all of these problems, as we shall get through all the other ones. We shall be a sucess, we will fufill our purpose, we shall do our duty! And we shall do it as the Empress would expect, or as who ever you guys respect," He waved in the direction of the NovaCorp personnel, "But there will be dangers. Thinking of potential species as peacfull is being niave, they may well be hostile, and we will be ready for them. We have been sent an accompnying escort fleet, and together with them, we will survive and prosper.

There has been one small alteration to the scheme of things though. We are no longer going North. And I don't care if you don't call it North, it's up on the map, and that's good enough for me! Due to the recent Mishu activity around Hoshi no Iori, that is no longer deemed safe. Instead we will go towareds the lonely exspanse. So expect the trip to be ... lonely, at least for the first bit. I am also expecting that you, as members of Star Army, or NovaCorp, will behave in a exemplary manner. It is to easy for the colonists to panic, and if they see us acting badly, they will. But I have faith in each and every one of you." He looked around, giving the impression of looking into the eyes of each of them "Other than the Elysian Scum." He muttered under his breath.

Ephesus scowled. He could read lips, and the Captains behavior was begining to really annoy him.

"Are there any questions? Any questions at all?" Asked the Captain to the crowd.

(OCC: It is vital importance for everyone to post in this. Dont have a question if you don't have one, but mention you're there, talk to each other. A few people are excempt, but mostly, come here, or I'll think you're inactive.)

Kenda managed to maneuver into the conference room just before the captain started his speech, and found himself a seat in the back of the room, still trying to fix up his uniform and his hair. A minute or so into the speech he was finally still and paying attention, having missed a bit of the announcement, but he wasn't a big fan of pep talks anyway.

Henako had made his way down slowly. He had reached the conference room eventually, though he was still confused as to where he was located on the ship. As he walked in he saw other milling in as well. He wasn't to sure what it was about, he had just heard that he needed to be there.

The man began to speak. Henako wasn't to sure who he was, but he knew he was important. He sat there and listened. The guy knew who to speak, Henako definatly felt inspired. However he did have any questions. He was to tired to ask questions, and his lip was still hurting, he hadn't seen Carlos since. He didn't even want to speak to the people around him. The talk was good, though waiting for someone to ask the first question would probably take a while.

Masako entered the conference room during the beginning of the speech. She leaned against the wall in the back of the room and paid attention to the man's words. His words talked of exploring new worlds, meeting new species, possibly even starting new colonies, all to ensure the survival of Yamatai. She knew this mission was important and she was definitely glad she could experience such a journey of discovery.

The problem was, she could get all the neko of Hoshi no Iori out of her mind. Would they become slaves to the Mishu? To be used as replenishable food? It was too horrible away to live for any creature. She terrible just thinking about all of them in such situations. But...maybe there was still hope for them?

But another thing came to her mind. The 'Lonely Expanse' was something she had only read in a few books she had picked up before. They were going to cross that void? The young neko's excitement began to rise at the thought.

Carlos stood somewhere in the thick of the crowd, towards the center of it. He was there because he had to be there, really, never a man for speeches or pomp.

To him, these were all words. Just words. They had a mission, they would do it. He had his job, he would do it. It would be the same as if he was on a laundry vessel cruising around space doing people's linens.

Such grandiose things as the affairs of those in charge of Capital Ships were far from his mind, he was content to have his small place, he would make something of himself in his own way. A man should not be judged by the rank he rises to, but by the zeal and skill with which he carries out his duties.

As the speech ran down, Leiko looked around at the crowd around her, surprised somewhat at the sheer numbers, but knowing intelectually that it would, of course, take quite a few people to run and maintain a ship as large as the Destiny.

As she had no questions, she simply waited to be dismissed, after any other questions were asked by the various crewers, staff, or present civillians.

Roken was late to the speach, as he stept inside the room was filled with ship personel he looked around for an open seat but he figured he would just stand in the back instead of making a scene. Roken looked at all the faces he recognized Henako but the rest were new to him it didnt matter he wasnt here to make friends, he was here to do a job.

Apesael stood to the left of Tanjo, taking his position as his assistant. He was feeling really faint, being in a crowd of this many was overwhelming, it was taking all of his concentration to simply stop being lost in the thoughts of so many, and to keep them out of his head. He knew he should ask a question, but couldn't summon enough mental energy to form one. He just wished that this would be over, so that he could return to his quarters and continue to recover.

Tanjo on the other hand was very interested in what the Captain had said, and in fact dissected every word of it looking for any hints. He didn't get any, but found the change of direction intriguing. Was it really the threat of Mishu or was it something else? It didn't really matter he supposed, one direction was as good as any other. He barely noticed Apaseal, standing as he was in front of him and to the right, and due to Apesaels efforts not to call attention to himself.

Arild stood straight, although was almost overcome by the need to rub his temples and sigh. It had been a hard questioning session; not because the questions where hard, but because they where irrelevant. He had just finished a long question/answer arguement about the relevant benefits of underwear with one Mai Tong, and another about whether there was any restrictions on off duty clothes (the infantry soldier refused to accept that there was no restrictions as long as they kept themselves respectable, and an officer argued that nudity was fully acceptable, Arild had wanted to cry). He'd decided to end this.

"As fruitfull as this session has been, it is time to end it. We will start the CDD in ten minutes. Thank you for your attention and time." Arild saluted and walked out of the room.

(OCC: Interact people!)

Henako sat there. Some questions had been really stupid. Some had been ok. The commander didn't look well though. He looked white in the face. Henako was getting slightly board, but didn't want to show it, so was sitting on the edge o his chair and looking at the commander.

Once the questions had ended people began to stand up. Henako wasn't tp sure what was happening, so he stayed seated he wa hoping someone would tell him where he needed to go next.

Roken was glad the speech had ended it was getting kinda boring and he wasnt sure what to do now, he looked around at the people stading up and noticed henako still seated "wonder why he isnt getting up," Roken pushed passed a few of the personell that were moving around. Roken found an empty seat behind henako, "Hey hows it going man" he said.[/i]
