Due to Andrew controlling the Enemy, CB and I will be controlling the bulk of the 5th XF in this encounter.

Andrew wants us all to have direction and to coordinate. Don’t rush in headlong and do your own thing! This is our test here!

Post suggestions to tactics here in this thread, or discuss in YIM if the majority of us are present.

Andrew’s Tips:

Deploy armors at the earliest opportunity/immediately! Don’t let ships be damaged/destroyed with armors still undeployed on them! We have a thousands and thousands of armors here.

Armors are always organized into Wings of 1000, Hyuga Wings 100.

DR system in Fleet Roleplay=Useless (for PVP only)

We have Hanabusa in our midst…so not all of our ships are friendly. Be ready for treachery!

We have people at New Years Parties who are possibly drunk. Non Nekos may be in short supply sober. We have a 93% Neko force in the 5th, and a good half of the remainder may be boozed out of their minds.

The enemy is approaching from the Galactic West, and is at a distance of 3 LY. The enemy consists of a battleship, 4 carriers, 9 gunships, 10 destroyers and 6 scouts.

Re: About the Coming Battle: Mandatory Read for all GMs and Jr

My own suggestions:

Bring the Civvy ships inside the Iori, or assign fold coordinates for Civvy ships, and have the Oberons tow the Sojourners to a safe distance with some Power Armor, Fighters, and some Nozomi or Sakura for protection.

Form defensive perimeters around key assets, including Hotaru, Himitsu, Jiyuu III, Jiyuu IV, and the Jiyuu system's Star (to prevent a repeat of Taiie)

Initiate the assault with fold-capable vessels to engage the SMX, using guerrilla-style tactics to fold, unleash their weapons, and refold as quickly as possible. This may give us time to deploy our Armors and prepare our defenses.

Use those Striker Arrays to support your Power Armor and make false targets for the enemy computers.

Try to use multiple waves to keep the pressure on, rather than attack all at once. Not only will the attack be constant in strength, but the weakened forces can be restocked and have a slight breather.

Re: About the Coming Battle: Mandatory Read for all GMs and Jr

My suggestion:

Take out the scouts first with as little effort as possible if they're going to send them in first to feel us out. That way they won't have vital info on our forces and capabilities..

Another one: Aim for the commanders or lead vessels as taking them out usually causes temporary confusion and discord among the enemies which we can capitalize on.

The battleship is going to be the biggest thread here always keep an enemy between yourself and another enemy to prevent being gangraped.

and I'd like to reiterate what Toshiro and Andrew have advised.

Another thing I've realized:

The prototype Interdiction SEM (M29X02) is a fleet-scale Interdiction Device has a range of just over 3 AU in diameter (9 AU volume). Place it smack in the middle with a defending force, and you can make everyone stick in STL/low FTL mode once we're done with the guerrilla fold barrages.

If the fighting gets within 1.5 AU in diameter, all interdiction efforts can be halted, as well. We only have one such unit built at this time, though.

The Sakura, whichever it is, could also be fitted with a prototype Mini Striker Array SEM (M29X00).

Old style Nozomi Main Guns make FTL travel impossible in areas of space which they have been fired...perhaps this can be used to our advantage somehow?

You called for an Irim strike? :D

My suggestions:

- Use the Star Fortress' TTD systems to rearrange our entire fleet; have Jiyuu on our distant left (don't want the planet at our back) and the civilians to the rear - our fleet proper should be arranged along a solid battle line. TF-56 will fold to safety. I agree that we should probably try and get the civies out of combat.

- I agree with Tyler on the scouts; if they do come first, just waste them. But don't bother using the heavy guns - one barrange from the Hotaru's striker array for instance is enough to turn them into space dust.

- I also agree with Tosh on the fold strikes. However, we can strike even faster than that. We have a full fleet here and several our our heavier ships are equipped with TTD's themselves. It would be a simple matter to teleport in, fire and fold out. We should probably use that tactic (with the TF-50's two Yuumi and their escorts if nothing else) to cripple the battleship and carrier group.

- For ships that don't fold strike and let leave themselves to our defensive reserve, have them hold off with their main weapons and jumps until what's left of the enemy has fired their own. Then dodge, then interdict, then return fire.

- After doing that, we're left with a much lighter battlegroup. We should probably deploy the Interdiction SEM at that point and just tear the lighter ships apart with superior firepower; keeping manoueverability in mind and the possibility of more fold strikes to make it easier on our defences.

Imo, this is the part where ships like the Asuka and the Asamoya (and the 17th) have their fun...after the killer ships of the enemy have been blown up. Less of a slaughter for you guys =3

- Also, if we are attacked by friendly ships Hotaru will paint them red. Beyond the initial shock, there should be no confusion on that front.

Ok, I have a few suggestions, and facts about the Asamoya.

It has regenerative shielding, meaning it can withstand subspace encased particle cannons better then a normal SAoY vessel to some degree.

It has battleship grade armor. Three feet of Yamataium armor plating with a thin coat of Zesuaium, and has a Xiulurium coating, making it as stealthy as a Sakura.

The main gun is unique as it has two firing modes. Pulse mode which is the big hitter, and the beam mode which will saw through shielding and only gain in damage potential. The range of this thing is 2 AU.

Her secondary weapons, the subspace encased particle cannons have a 1 AU range. She is also carrying AS-7 torpedoes of all types, and has an abundance of AS-5's.

It also has a nifty set of new warheads. The Interphasic Torpedoes which can phase themselves, and hit a phasing scout while it is phased. I only have a limited supply however. (13 in all)

It also has some nifty gadgets on board. While dangerous, they may still prove useful. The ship can utilize its Interphasic Drive to 'phase out' much like a Mishhuvurthyar Phasing scout for three seconds tops due to the ship's mass.

It also has the energized armor. Which is an energy shield that is contoured about the hull and uses the ship's own internal forcefield generators to use.

Despite its size, the Asamoya is fairly nimble, and can attain I think about anywhere from 14,000c, to 17,000c in nebulas.

All in all the ship has many uses. But, as it is a fairly new ship it does have its little quirks. And yes, I kind of made the Asamoya sound like a flying tank. ^^;

~~~
Also, if you throw up an interdiction field you have the advantage in speed while in STL. =\ Makes things by far easier considering Mishhu ships are fairly slow while in STL, and would be quite the targets for a barrage of AS-5's. It'd also likely disable their Legacy Cannons too.
I've implemented my first suggestion. The TTD has been used to reposition our entire fleet away from Jiyuu and into an organised formation.
As a slight amendment to that, the idiots who showed me they were evil by disconnected from PANTHEON were teleported as well - right into a massive cluster infront of the Hotaru's main guns. They shouldn't be bothering us any more.
You do realize that by teleporting those ships and their SS Pods to the enemies, any innocent crew on those ships will be permanently executed unless they have STs on Hotaru...right?
Otherwise, I agree with CB's suggestions.
TF-53 can be used as a sort of supply base should things get hairy as well. They have 2 Sakura to defend, and multiple colony ships which could provide a mobile restock point.
Also, I am willing to have Himitau move 1 AU behind (or in front) or Hotaru's line, so as to should the system's star from attack.
Make sure you guys talk to Fian and coordinate with him too. (He plays Nao Tange, and controls the Yukari Assault Group)
Kuniko (tiff) Needs to get the Fujin Carrier Group moving.
Tyler--Get on that battlefield soldier!
I've spoken to Fian and given him the link here. I'm also trying to get Misato to take the Striker SEM and the Interdiction SEM.
Oh and about using weapons that damage the region...Might want to think twice about doing any kind of major damage to the area---We have to live here!
Indeed I do, though the vast majority of those pods are heading for Mishhu battle lines and the ships are clearly under enemy control. There's very little we can do for them, but make sure they don't harm our actions against the Mishhu. Hopefully they have ST backups, but even if they don't I believe it to be the wise course of action.
Besides...icly, Eriko has a temper and is not the most reasonable person when it comes to traitors.
Exhack's advice for non-combat characters:
-Medical and care crew should begin distributing Contraveisalgia Tablets to intoxicated crew.
-Non-combat personnel should remember to pack on the Type 28 NSP's (you should anyway) or a Type 28 NSMG.
-Stick to groups. Keeps you from being isolated in the RP, and gives you some sort of chance to make it if your ship gets boarded.
-Use marine boarding tactics when attacked. Emphasis on cover, and tactical retreats. Do not charge at a Mishhu if you're unarmored. It's suicide.
-Despite their incredible strength, it is *possible* to slay a Mishhu in close combat, as they have rather squishy bodies. Just remember they have fast regeneration and can tear you limb from limb. Slicing works better than smashing.
-Do not be afraid to use conventional explosives. SAoY ships are very sturdy, and a concussive/incendiary/frag grenade shouldn't do much more than spread some ash around and ruin a carpet.
Most of this goes without saying, doesn't it? Just a spot of advice for other junior Yamatai players.
Alright, this afternoon I got my head out of my arse and I'm paying attention, I got two plots related to this mess, so lets see here.
The Lorath; I've been advised to stay out of the fight as it stands, so you won't be getting any Lorath assistance other than ships which may be in the area.
What the Lorath do need is to make sure that no more than 150 - 200 large Mishhu combatants get through, thats the most the Lorath can handle at the moment.
YC-28; my SAINT ship the YC-28 arrived at the Hotaru during the dinner scene, thus it would be docked during the beginning of the conflict. Tonight I will be having a JP to carry out the arrival, which will quickly transition into another scene all together involving the battle. If anyone is available who knows whats what in this battle and can be available tonight for a JP, get a hold of me on YIM. I got a JP with my crew coming up.
What I Bring To The Table: The YC-28 will be taking up a defensive posture deploying power armor to defend it's self and the area of the lori it is docked at. The YC-28 is available to transport VIPs (Admiral Davis) off of the Hotaru if needed.
On the Lorath's end, if you need them, they'll come running if called. Please be sure to keep the Nyli system covered.
If anyone needs me, I'll be kicking myself for not paying attention
Power armor pilots, make sure your coordinating with your GMs in choosing targets!!
Here is one for you.
Take out the Mishhuvurthyar carriers. I know' it'll likely be difficult, but well worth it. If those two carrier blow their re-arming and repair will be severely hampered.
EDIT: As for the Asamoya, where do you guys suggest she goes? I am at a loss as to where to place her right now. =\
Aye, Soresu - was thinking the exact same thing =3
Currently, I'm waiting for Andrew to post for his characters onboard the Hotaru, but here's a further update of the general strategy. To all groups now deployed around the Hotaru (and those controlling them) use your fold systems to dodge the enemy's first volley and activate your local interdiction fields. Use your weapons to clear away the enemy's in our midst and prepare for more hostiles.
Meanwhile, I intend to use the TF-50 Command group to attack the enemy battleship and carrier group. I have a plan and it should work. And whatever you do, don't let those torps hit you! Lets make this a good fight \o/
I got sixty Arashi, and six Kyoto carriers under my command, and I intend to put them to good use. Not to mention about 518,400 lamias with a number of Hyuga fighters. I could likely screen Hotaru by engaging the battle pods and destroyers while you take on the battleship and carriers.
The way I am doing it is I'm hoping to bunch the pods up and get at them with a horde of MSAP missiles in the first volley with Lamias to both cover the group, and attack the pods. Trying to bottleneck, and surround them. ^^;
Ok I got the FCG in the TF-53 group, but what I was thinking was with the Carrier groups, or atleast the TF-53 because it is mostly Kyoto's, we could have the Kyotos act as sorta restock area, with the Arashi as protection circles around them. The Kyotos at the same time could act as mobile staging areas, launching their own armors and using their resources to restock. Understand?
