Location: Weltraumflotte HQ, above Jaspis
Time: 1200 hours standard military time

Above Jaspis early in the mourning, the Weltraumflotte HQ slowly orbited the planet. A large crowd had formed around Docking Bay 5 where the HMS Remscheid was docked and almost ready to go. All week the ship was going under calibrations and checkups before it was allowed to debark, and today was set for it's maiden voyage.

----

The crowd around Docking Bay 5 was full of families and friends giving a last farewell. Aside from the family of 8 saying farewell to their grown up little girl, there were a few interesting ones.

“...the wound was like something fired out of a railgun!” A grizzly looking Surfacers who looked like he has seen he's share of battle was speaking to other marines. If the small scars doesn't show it, the patch on his uniform indicates he is the highest enlisted rank of the Marines. He was talking to other marines about his past heroics, mostly those that end up with him getting shot up.

A three-and-a-half foot Nightwalker female stood alone looking at her datapad and taping away at the screen. She was dressed as an officer, and seemed to look like she was permanently displeased. Every now and then she would play with the single strain of brown hair in front of her, or adjust her goggles before continuing with her activity.

There were also three girls in uniform chatting, one of them was a Surfacers with a pair of glasses, a tall blond girl who seemed bored, and a short brown haired one. They seemed to be talking about rumors about the first assignment, and other things.

During the pre-launch good-byes, a tall mahogany-haired young surfacer would come though the doors that lead into the docking bay containing the HMS Remscheid. She was carrying herself with immense self-confidence as she looked around; the lights overhead making her hair seem to change shades into a reddish brown compared to the straight brown it was when she stepped through. Her rank pins clearly delineated her status as an Oberbootsmann, which might’ve been the lower rank out of everyone there; which had her seeking out her proper superior. Renate considered approaching the officer that was half her height, but that seemingly perpetual scowl on the woman’s face would turn her away.

So instead she’d approached the grizzled looking Surfacer that was sharing his past exploits and waited for him to finish his tale. “Pardon me sir. But I just arrived here with directions to present myself before the standing officer of this ship, would you be so kind as to direct me to him or her?” The busty brunette asked, her cobalt blue eyes calm but grave.

"Well it depends..." he said turning toward the woman with reddish brown hair, only to realize he had to look up a foot higher which made him give out a chuckle. "Well you might as well report to me, I'm Stabsbootsmann Hadumar Baldwin of the 1st fire team... heh well I guess they aren't fire teams anymore." He then offered a handshake casually with a look that she should take the invite since she won't get to shake hands once they get on the ship.

Renate looked down at the shorter man, her eyes changing shades into purple for a moment when she realized he was practically staring up at her ..protruding anatomy, but eased back to blue. She knew it was her own fault really due to the height difference and just lead out a momentary laugh and shrugged. “I said: commander of the ship, not the commander of Fire Team 1.” She said and grasped his hand firmly with a strong grip, having some callouses on her hand from handling large weapons. “But it’s nice to meet you Stabsbootsmann.” She said formally. “I’m Oberbootsmann Anselm.” Renate said calmly. “Heavy weapons specialist. And not the heavy weapons I know you’re eyeing and trying not to let me notice.”

After a chuckle, the Stabsbootsmann replied while letting go of her hand, "No offense little lady but I'm married to guns that fire hot bullet into the rear of my enemy. Now to answer your question, you could ask HER over there," he said while moving his head in the direction of the temperamental looking short female all alone.

"Though if your looking for the skipper, don't know what to say. I saw her go into the ship though it wasn't like I was paying attention. A mistake I should have learned from my previous assignment mind you, when I lost track of my CO and found her in bed with... actually I think I won't tell that story..." he said, eying the two other male Maat's that were standing now to Hadumar's right.

Renate listened to what the Stabsbootsmann said about the XO and glanced over at the snooty looking Nightwalker as well and blinked. Baldwin might’ve been right about her, that woman looked like she’d be a problem to work through probably best to go straight to the skipper. Anselm let out a short laugh when she heard the other man’s admission that he didn’t learn his proper lesson last time. “Hahah Well I’ll go find her and make sure she’s not having fun with anyone just yet then.” She said and nodded. “It was nice to meet you sir.” Renate said politely and turned away and strode toward the ship’s ramp and entered the ship and began to search around for the CO. The first place she’d check out was the bridge to see if the Co was there.

However before Renate was able to set foot on the ship, she was called out by a Nightwalker with short brown hair. "Hey I've seen you somewhere before!" she yelled out as she walked up to Renate and crossed her arms, "Ya I have, something about some hostage thing at hotel? So what brings you to the military huh? big shot!" The woman almost seemed growling up at the tall Surfacer.

"H.. h.. hey Acelin, d.. d.. don't pick fights..." spoke up the nervous looking Surfacer that followed the brown haired one. She had large thin rimmed glasses with blue hair in a small ponytail and seemed physically smaller than her actual height.

Renate paused and looked over at the Nightwalker with brown hair and perked her brow. It seemed like she didn’t like the fact that she was involved in something else. What the hell was this about? Wasn’t it acceptable that people had more experience than some basic Maat? Anselm just crossed her arms and set her rucksack down and shook her head. “what brought me here? I’ve always been in the military. The police force is a branch of it afterall, I just put in for a transfer up to the space-bound ships instead of planetside.” Renate said. “And I probably don’t have to explain myself to you, there’s nothing wrong with moving up in the world.” She said, her eyes shading over to purple.

“Now if you’ll excuse me, I’ve got standing orders to go find the commanding officer of the ship herself.” Renate said and grabbed up her rucksack and started up the ramp again into the ship but paused again. “I’ll talk to you later after you chill out.” She said calmly to the Nightwalker called Acelin.

"You Schwein get back here!" the woman named Acelin shouted only to be stopped by her companion who tugged the brown haired woman's sleeve.

"P..p.. please don't, she outranks you." the glasses girl said, "Don't fight..."

"Fine," Acelin said, still peeved, "that doesn't change the past."

----

It was busy on the bridge, more so than it would after today. The tech crew on station were assisting in easing in the crew in the new technology or checking up systems before launch. The Skipper herself was also not immune, standing at the door looking in since her chair was being worked on.

"Well, they say back at home that 'Die Welten sind die größten Vergnügen zu den gegeben, die aus den beschissenen Teilen warten!'" said a cheerful blond Nightwalker standing at 5 feet with a stylish dark blue goggles. "Maybe a cake from the station before we leave?"

Standing next to her was a tall moody looking brown woman, who had to lay a hand on the bridge crewman to keep her from going on a tangent. "Good work today, get something to eat before we head out," she said softly.

The blond gave a quick salute and a "Yes sir!" left in the only exit the bridge had. She walked by Renate and didn't give a second glance until 5 seconds after passing by. Though she seemed to keep her thoughts to herself as she left the scene.

OOC notes:
1) Schwein = pig
2) 'the worlds greatest pleasures are given to those who wait out the crappy parts!' - It typically referred to waiting out the bad parts of a movie (the beginning most times) before getting to the fun, often better parts.

Renate glanced back at Acelin and perked a brow at what she said, her irises tightening a bit as she continued into the ship. It just seemed like the girl was trying to pick a fight for some reason, maybe she’d talk to the young woman in a civil manner later on. Continuing further in she’d reach the bridge after a few moments of meandering and peeked in through the doorway to see how busy it was. She’d listen to what was being said by the blonde to the bridge crews as they got work and grinned faintly, liking the way things seemed to operate here, routine and orderly. When the woman passed, Renate flattened her back against the wall and let her pass politely and then turned back when she was passed.

The tall brunette would politely get the brown skinned woman’s attention and tapped her shoulder gently. “I was instructed to present myself to you upon reaching this ship. I am Oberbootsmann Anselm, Renate.” She introduced herself politely. “Heavy weapons specialist.” She said, saluting the captain.

Feperte kept to herself as she walked towards the ship. Her goggles were firmly over her eyes keeping her keen eyesight intact. It was with this eyesight that she noted the dumb brown haired night walker calling a superior officer names.

"So childish," she muttered, "Gives the rest of us Maats a bad name."

"I wouldn't mess with her if I were you," spoke a blond girl at Feperte's height, in a manner that hinted at laziness, "Heavy weapon gals hotheaded like those only come with trouble."

She then smirked and offered a hand, "I'm to be your spotter mate on Assault Team 1. I hope we can work well with each other."

----

The brown woman turned and gave a small grin to Renate, "Welcome to the ship Renate Oberbootsmann Anselm," she said while returning the salute, "I'm Befehlshaber Adelheid Vogel..." she trailed off a little looking at Renate closer a little, "It would seem television even makes your bust bigger than it actually is."

Feperte looked at the brown haired woman in the face and seemed to have zoned out.

Spotter... just a replacement for Alphons... I wish they hadn't split us up...

As she returned to the present Feperte ignored the girls hand. "What is your name and what were your marks in the academy?" she said in her distant icy voice.

Renate just raised a brow at the way she said her name and rank and could only laugh feeling slightly embarrassed. “It’s very nice to meet you Befehlshaber vogel.” She said pleasantly and blinked again as the CO looked her over critically and made her commentary. It made Renate wonder what it was with people and television for a moment to comment on her and couldn’t help but ask about it as she raked a hand through her hair, her face showing confusion. “Uh. Television? I don’t recall being on the TV…” Renate said with a blush.

The blond woman just shrugged and replied, "I'm June Oliver, I was the top of my game in spotter, 3rd place at training." June began to twirl a piece of hair from the left side of her bangs with her left hand, "My sniping skill could use some work though, what about you?"

----------

Back with Renate and Adelheid, the Skipper moved her left hand up to her chin and tapped with two fingers. She began to walk past Renate while saying, "Let me say that I had a chance to review your work history," she patted Renate's right shoulder as a gesture to follow Adelheid out and walk with her, "I was impressed with what I saw."

Renate recognized the gesture immediately and turned to walk with the woman, still carrying her rucksack and adjusted it’ fit over her shoulder. She would blush for a moment thinking about what she said for a moment. "“Oh..” The brunette blushed and offered the CO a little smile. “I was just doing what felt right when the standing orders didn’t cover the situations that developed or relied on my excellent training.” She said modestly as they continued along. Her cobalt eyes were inquisitive, studying the dark-skinned woman's faeatures for some clue as to what she was thinking.

"Well Ms. Oliver it is good to know that you are skilled in spotting, I don't like having to deal with incompetence while on a mission. My skill is in the actual shooting of the target. Well come on lets get on board I'm sure the Skipper would not be pleased if we were to be late." then Feperte grabbed up her bags and headed into the ship without waiting to see if June would follow.

"Well its good to see your so lively too," said June as she flicked her head to get the hair out of her face and followed behind. She continued to twirl her hair in thought as she walked, her facial expression changing while she thought things over.

The spotter stopped her habit then and asked, "Hey, what's your name Ms. Moody, I was only shown a picture and told to pick you up." Her right hand was on her hip as she continued, "also if we are going to be partners we could also join up later for lunch, they say sniper partners at their best when they are in sync ya know?"

"Yes Ms. Oliver, it would be in the best interest of the mission if we were to have our lunch together." She said while crisply walking almost as if she was in constant salute. "My name is Feperte Schoneit, now that you know my name please refrain from name calling it isn't necessary and it prevents us from being, what did you say? Synced?" She finished with an icy glance.

Adelheid continued, "It is that kind of critical thinking that I was impressed with," she stated to Renate with a small smile, "it is also something that I would be useful. From what I'm told, Hadumar typically runs his squad while laying down on the floor." After making her joke, the Shipmaster stopped at the door leading to her room, only it was open slightly which caused her to look at it with suspicion.

--------

June was smirking now that they were now on a first name basis, "Your so uptight you know, you should relax a little," she said, while nodding to the right to get her blond hair behind her head again. Her left hand facing the roof as they entered the ship, "You would have plenty of time to be serious once we leave space dock, you should let loose a little while ya can!'
