Feperte let out a forced chuckle. "Perhaps you are right Ms. Oliver. What do you do to relax?" She had been leading the way to the bunks to drop off her bags letting the smaller girl follow close behind. Personally Feperte was annoyed by June's attitude, she seemed to treat everything like a joke. Perhaps she most annoyed by the fact that that attitude was exactly like Alphons's...

"How does one command a squad whilst laying on the floor..." Renate thought for a moment about it, a few possibilities running through her mind as she did. But all of them had a high probability behind them so there was no real point to trying to figure it out for the moment. But when they stopped at the shipmaster's door to find it just ajar, she perked a brow. "Is something the matter?" she asked and noticed the opening. "maybe it's an issue with the motor system?"

Feperte's response was a raised eyebrow, "What do you mean what I do?" asked the naturally relaxed June as she followed her seemingly relaxing companion. When they arrived at Ferperte's bunk room, she would stand leaning on the door while playing with a strand of her hair while she observed, "So what you think about this talk about pirates?"

----

In front of the Captain's Cabin stood the Captain herself, Adelheid was not amused by the door being open, and can only mean someone was inside. She then said to Renate, "I may have to explain later," then opened the door all the way.

Within was a man dressed in plain cloths and a jacket with the "Hirschhorn Corp." logo, which also included deer like antlers around the name. He suddenly stood up and walked to the door, "I've been waiting for you Ship Commander Vogel!" He bellowed in a very irritated bossy manner, "I was promised that we would be heading out now, or are we going to wait for the Pirate War to begin again hm?"

Vogel placed her head in her right hand, mentally, as she stood expressionless at the rapid assaults. There was only one person she could think of that would have suggested their contractor to visit the Commander's room without her authorization, and wasn't happy about it.

"Oberbootsmann Anselm, meet our contractor, Fredrick Bogerstien" introduced the Ship Commander calmly, "Ms. Anselm, if you could check in the rest of your team in my place," she removed a data pad from her pant pocket and placed it on the correct entry, then handed the data pad to Renate, "I have some business here that may take the rest of the day."

Renate nodded to her and perked a brow then scowled darkly at the man bellowing at their captain and was about to reprimand him when she spoke. "It's ...nice... to meet you." the brunette grated at him and bowed her head some and sighed. In a moment, she'd lean to speak into the captain's ear saying "Is it really a good idea to let him on the ship while we're doing this?" she asked, curiously but accepted the new duty of checking in the others. "It will be as you require mi'lady" she said politely adn exited the ship to go check in the others. Making he way out to the ramp again and stood there with the datapad in hand and went over the names, calling them out to see who was there at the moment.

The Ship Commander barely gave a nod to the taller marine before Mr. Bogerstien began shouting again, "Well what is your excuse hm? I was told this ship would been ready sooner, but instead it has been sitting here while my business is at a stand still...hm!"

As she walked into her cabin, allowing the door to close behind her as she entered and led her unwanted guest to the left room where there was a couch and coffee table. "I understand your concerns Mr. Bogerstien, however there was a glitch with one of the drones that had caused problems for engineering crew two days ago." Adelheid explained, "The damage of the incident warranted high command to delay our departure. Coffee?" Adelheid had moved to the coffee maker where she had planned to be drinking with her fellow marine if it wasn't for current circumstances.

However the merchant shook his head, "No, I had enough of coffee today hm," he did however sit down on the couch and stretch out his four arms making himself at home, "Will there be any more foreseeable delay's? If the Ugsted does not launch, my company will start losing profit, the market is always changing on the other side of the Jaspis Spaceway, hm."

"If all goes well Mr. Bogerstien," Adelheid said calmly after a sip of coffee, "we may even launch a little sooner."

-------

Shortly after Renate began calling names, a small tune played throughout the station indicating an announcement, a male's voice said, "Attention, the time schedule for the departure of the HMS Remscheid has been moved to 3400 hours. All personal please report to the ship immediately...Attention..." then the message repeated once more.

Renate was in the middle of the roll call when the announcement came out, making her pause and take notice. "Hmm I guess we're leaving sooner than anticipated." she said and looked at everyone gathered when the announcement was done. "Alright you guys, hurry up now we're fixin' to lift off here soon!" she said, stepping aside to let the people filter up into the ship after a brief check of ID.

Upon the announcement came a greater shuffling of personnel, marines and navy personnel who thought they had at least another night to sleep on a nice bed began stepping onto the ship to get everything ready for their space voyage. Meanwhile the station crew began to debark slowly as their checkups were completed, leaving only a few left behind for tweaks and helping some be familiar with the ship at the last second. Cargo had already been loaded on board since the Remscheid was originally planned to leave a while ago.

A male surfacer a head lower than Renate walked up on the summons of his name. He was handsome with blond hair and green eyes, and gave a smile that could bend the hearts of women that is until one knew of his heritage. His left hand took one of Renate's hands while one of his right hands went to his stomach while doing a little bow to kiss the top of the hand that belonged to his superior officer. "Yes madame, I am Kurast Udane Christopher the Third," he informed Renate despite calling the name Kurast Bulwarks, but he continued on, "The stars, no, THE HEAVENS must have foretold our meeting to this day! They say it only happens once that two of the same stars meet, that star is Capricorn!" After announcing his passion to the taller woman his lower two arms moved to his chest, to show how passionate his speech was.

Renate didn't seem too amused by his theatrics and pulled her hand away and made a "hurry up" gesture. "If you say so Bulwarks." she said in a callous tone that told himt hat she wouldnt' put up with his flowery speech. "Get your four armed ass on board or I'm going to throw you on." she said. "Unless you want to be left behind." she smirked.

Kurast backed up and looked slightly peeved, but he quickly fixed his hair and give a smile and said, "See ya around then," like as though that was not the first time someone replied to him like that and walked on board the ship.

About 3 seconds later a taller brawny brown haired green eyed Surfacer woman walked up muttering, "Damn it why must he..." then recognized Renate, "Ah sorry mame!" she snapped a reply and saluted, "I must apologize for that guy, he's head isn't always in the knocker that he thinks is his noggin'."

However Renate was distracted by the voice dictating it was time to board. As everyone piled aboard the ship, people of the space station watched as their marines fly out into space alongside a smaller ship.

"Would you like a word before we fold?" asked one of the bridge personnel. Adelheid grinned a little and slowly stood up.

"Everyone, our mission is to escort the Regstien to its destination," she then sat down after her speech and said one last thing before folding into space, "For glory of our motherland, let us do our best."

--------

After a few days the Remscheid and the Fresha class merchant vessel had continued it's travel along the space elevator toward it's destination. Vogel stayed on the bridge going though reports and keeping things steady with her new ship and make sure things go smoothly.

Meanwhile in the hanger, a gruff looking man was waiting for his squad to form up. While the highest ranking and main command of all 3 squads, he was assigned to squad 1 since it was to be the main attack group, and as one with the most experience to lead it. Several had shown up already, but there was still a few minutes left for the others to arrive. Stabsbootsmann Hadumar Baldwin stood with arms crossed patiently in his powered armor with his helmet under his right arm. Others were dressed in their skinsuit, armor, or in plain uniform.

After some time on the bridge, Ship Commander Vogel was growing tired of watching over the bridge and decided it was time to inspect her marines. "May, you have the bridge," she stated leaving with an affirmative to her back. What followed her was the fowl looking surfacer following her with a data pad.

"Where are you going? As Adviser I should been left in charge!" the brown head huffed in anger, moving in quicker steps to keep up with her taller commander. "Or do you plan to play captain from the cargo hold?"

Vogel kept a straight face, despite the insults she knew the adviser was just voicing concerns for the ship and crew. "I understand the concern, however I would like you to assist me in inspection of the ship," the ship commander stated as she headed toward the lower decks.

Back at the hanger, those finally assembled received a welcome by the Stabsbootsmann, "Listen up gentlemen!" to which received everyone's full attention, "To Offensive Squad One!"

With his upper hands crossed and his lower right hand holding his helmet, he began pacing back and forth, "I am Stabsbootsmann Hadumar Baldwin, I command all three squads on this ship, but this will be my primary squad. It is my knowledge that most of you all are completely green, some of you may have seen action but I doubt you have seen this kind of action yet! Therefore It is my job to keep you from dieing on me.”

Hadumar then stopped pacing where he had started and looked at the assembled, "I expect EACH of you to stand on your feet, leave no woman left behind, and kill any pirate that comes across your crosshairs AM I CLEAR!”

Before the collected crowd could cheer their support however, the hanger shook with a force of a rocket hitting a steel wall while a few seconds later the emergency ringing of the General Quarters began to sound, “Well kids looks like it's time, suit up and get ready to kick some pirate ass!”

--

The bridge was chaos, they had managed to activate the Hard Bubble Shield only to get hit by a missile before it was raised, “Damage report!” yelled May acting as Ship Commander, the blond was standing in a bit of panic herself as the bridge franticly tried to figure out what just came at them.

“Deck 2 and 3 took some heavy damage, the PD seems to be down,” a female voice yelled out, “our repair crew is on it's way.”

The blond sat back in the chair as things a little better, at least the engines didn't explode on her first tour of substitute captain, that was until her commander walked in. May quickly jumped out of the chair and saluted while Vogel returned to her seat and asked in a commanding tone, “Report!”

While May returned to her comms station, her Adviser walked up, “It seems we were attacked, Commander. From what I can tell of the scan reports as we came back, there was a ship that was going by a friendly signal that fired on us.” During her reply she had an expression of ”I told you so” while playing with a strand of her brown hair.

“Friendly? How can that be?” Vogel asked softly as she brought up the readouts of the damage on her arm chair and ignoring her Adviser's attitude. “No matter, I would like you to explain to me later however...” She looked up at her bridge crew who were waiting orders, “Helm, change course to face the threat. Comms, explain to our friend that he should move his ship closer to ours to protect him with our shields. Unlock all weapons and prepare for combat!” The bridge began to stir as Vogel gave orders, she herself locked in a thinking pose wondering what this friendly now enemy ship could really be.

The enemy ship closed only enough distance to stay out of the Reimshed's cannon, as it was confident on using it's missiles.

Back in the hanger...

"Ok everyone line up!" called out the Stabsbootsmann, who took the liberty of dropping the heavy gun on the floor before addressing the crowd. He noticed a couple of newer faces, probably those who thought could skip out on the meeting, "Listen up! We are currently under attack by a ship that was taken over by pirates! Right now we are on standby until further orders."

Evelyn Fritz's eyes were wide with wonder. Combat? Pirates? The excitement had her in a daze. She'd never expected to be thrust into a firefight so quickly -- it almost wasn't fair! But she was a soldier now. And she was needed, fair or not.

Evelyn barely heard the order to line up, and as she rushed to comply she tripped over... Nothing really, and went sprawling face-first on the hangar floor. Quickly she picked herself up with a muttered curse and got into line.

"Hehe, don't be too light on your feet Corpsman," spoke a brown haired woman on Evelyn's right side, she had dead cigarette in the side of her mouth and seemed relaxed. She had her primary weapon of choice slung over her shoulder, a MDR-5-01R Battle Rifle.

"Chill out Jen," replied a brown haired Nightwalker from Evelyn's other side, who in contrast seemed very laid back like she could never be stressed out, "Name's June, and this here is Tom," she said while thumbing the MDR-5-01S Sniper Rifle slung over her shoulder.

Jen chuckled at June's introduction, "So what? A sniper rifle inside a ship? My mum's shotgun has more chances to hit than that thing."

"Hey, you just may never know." was the reply from June, who ended with a yawn.

"Err... Right." Evelyn mumbled, shifting her feet in embarrassment.

"I'm Evelyn. Nice to meet you, June and Tom."

Meanwhile on the bridge, a crewman yelled out, "Another missile incoming!"

"Shields raised!"

"PD System is not responding, fire the primary weap..."

The Remscheid rocked again from a hit from the enemy missile, however the impact was softened this time, "Shields are holding, only minor damage to deck 5."

Vogel remained silent contemplating a plan, however her console began to blink with a message which she tapped to open. A vulmaric screen popped in front of her of the angry man from before, "Ship Commander what is going on? That last missile nearly hit us and all your doing is just standing there!"

"Mr. Bogerstien," Vogel replied comely, "The enemy is using some kind of long ranged missile, if we were to attempt to get closer they would only move away."

"Then what are you planning to do then? So far you just want to kill us all!"

"Be rest assured we have the situation under control," she then shut off the link before the merchant could rage at her any more. "Now then, combat operations, we shall use the special function of this ship as our PD. Launch the drones."

The male Abwehran in charge of weapon control yelled out, “Yes sir, launching drones,” after a long silence a short shudder could be felt across the ship, “Commander, the last drone attempting to launch exploded, the remaining engineers are investigating.”

“So, we only have two then?” Vogel asked despite knowing the answear, “We shall attempt to launch the construct drones as well.” To my hope, they will just see a small swarm and not tell them apart, was her silent hope.

The enemy vessel seemed to think it still had the advantage, and continued firing missile rounds at the Remscheid. The drones kept the barrage at bay by shooting them down. It seemed like the battle for now was a stalemate...

--------------------

Jen gave a smile, “Relax Corpsman!” said the taller marine, placing a comforting hand on Evelyn's shoulder, “Don't feel embarrassed by the small things, we only have our short time to rest before the fun begins. Then we can continue our lives set for us in the future.”

“Smart words coming from the one she will be tending on the battlefield,” came a snarkish reply from June.

Despite Jen's lightheartedness, the comment did make her seem a little distressed, “Jeez girl, don't be so dark.”

The Adviser played with a strand of brown hair as she said, "If I may Commander, the enemy ship is an old prototype vessel. While it may only have one missle launcher, it has about the same firepower as the Remscheid at closer range."

"Is that so?" Adheld Vogel said, as she watched the display of the drones fireing down the incoming missles.

"Indeed, but there seems to be something odd, this one has a drone hive."

Suddenly at the mention, "Pirate Vessel is launching craft, they seem to be drone types sir!"

"What?" she asked lightly while standing up, her motion being louder than her words.

The Adviser just sighed, "Somehow the pirates must have captured a prototype drone hive, and installed it on the stolen ship." The shorter Adviser tapped on her pad as she continued, "it went missing about 3AY ago, and the drone hive went missing caused a delay in it's process since it was being transported discretely by a merchant vessel. It has 7 combat drones, all focused on field combat."

"So?" the ship commander asked only glancing to her left.

"Well, it shouldn't be a problem for our 2 combat drones. The advanced settings were not completed, but it could prove a problem if they win the fight."

Damn it! I don't want this like that time! Vogel thought in rising stress and anger. She slowly managed to calm herself down and sit back in her seat. The blips of the enemy drones slowly reaching it's way to the drones defending the Remscheid as a plan slowly formed.

"I see, so they have no shuttle then?" Vogel stated after looking up scans of the enemy ship, it's shuttle bay being replaced by the hive rather than attached like the Remscheid, "Very well then, now that we tested the ship's special weapons, it's time to test our marines."

------

The alarm rang our again, this time along with voice of May speaking over the speakers, "Assault Teams report to your shuttle, good luck out there!"

"ALL RIGHT!" yelled out Stabsbootsmann Hadumar Baldwin, "It's time to get some blood on your new skinsuits! Assult Team 1 follow me into the shuttle, I shall explain mission details once onboard!" With that he marched up to a shuttle and climbed onboard.

"Bout damn time," said June, as she followed up the rest of the Marines climbing on board the shuttle. Some were running to get on while a few didn't seem to take so seriously, possibly seeing it as a small bump in their long lives.

Evelyn gulped, and shifted her feet nervously. Am I ready for this? she asked herself silently.

With a shake of her head, she rushed to join the rest of her assault team on the shuttle. She double-checked her aid kits and equipment as she boarded, and satisfied that she wasn't missing anything promptly got into place for the battle.

The feeling of lifting into the air could be briefly felt by the passengers of the Schiffchen shuttle, as it rose off the deckplates and left the Remscheid. Those with their headgear could now link themselves with the shuttle's sensors while in flight. While everyone was secured in their seat harness, the Stabsbootsmann remained standing up front of them.

"Our mission men is to disable the enemy ship, it's modified, but is much like the Remscheid so I hope you kiddies won't get lost," stated Hadumar and waited after the chuckle ended.

"Our mission is either to take the bridge, destroy the engine room, or disable the cannon. I say we take the engine room so we can show our boys and girls at home how the Marines of the Weltraumflotte party!"

After a slight cheer, they hit some turbulence which was actually drone fire. A couple of enemy drones attacked the shuttle, though they were scared off by one of the two allied drones. "Team 2 will be our backup and will hold a secure exit for us."

"SIR! 10 minutes!" yelled out what was probably the pilot.

"Ok gentlemen!" Hadumar yelled out, "Let's show how we won the Pirate War!" He then put his helmet on his head and picked up a rather large and heavy machine gun. A light turned on with a ringing sound indicating it was time to leave, the rear door opened to a scene of a blown drone hive thanks to Team's 2 shuttle and a drone. Hadumar was the first to jump the small gap and began blasting at anything that was moving.

Likewise the rest joined in, probably due to Hadumar drawing a lot of the fire, the light infantry managed to get on board without casualties thus far.

With the Drone Hive area cleared, Marine Team 1 managed to clear their first objective.
