RP: Abwehrans [Abwehrans] HMS Remscheid - Depart and Escort

Assault Team 1 has made it safely to the enemy ship thanks in part to Team 2's shuttle and a friendly drone giving them an opening for the shuttle to allow deployment. The Drone Hive hanger was quickly cleared, and the troops gathered.

The battle in space has changed however, in fact the enemy destroyer is moving closer to the HMS Remscheid in hopes to overpower her with superior numbers and equal firepower. The two ships are equally matched nearly, but is possible if the Marines don't do something in time, they might not have a ship to return to...

With the Hanger cleared, a couple remained close to the entrances as the group gathered. “Ok, we have three Damon's so we shall split into three. Renate, you shall stay here and hold the exit, Hector will follow my team and aid in our movements. June, Evelyn, Kyle, and Briggs, follow me. Move OUT!” The Stabsbootsmann yelled out his orders after dropping his heavy gun and given a couple of Battle Rifles for the smaller rooms ahead.

Evelyn Fritz felt weak with fear, and giddy with excitement. She trembled as she took her battle rifle and moved forward with the rest of the team. Her medkit felt heavy on her side, bouncing wildly as she moved. She wasn’t quiet at all – and it truly was a miracle that she hadn’t tripped yet moving so quickly.

Kyle couldn't help but to chuckle at the noisy medic, “Any louder and the enemy probably think we were some rock band,”it took two of his arms to keep his mouth from laughing too hard.

He got hit from the back of the head from June, “Jeez, are all you surfacer guys so stupid?” In contrast, she was really calm and professional, despite being green herself.

Briggs meanwhile ran to the left side of the door while acting like a real pro, thrusting her gun left and right, though the Stabsbootsmann probably ruined her eagerness by just walking up to the door and opening it, the corridor was like that of the Remscheid, much like that of a submarine except it had clutter everywhere indicating these pirates were messy. Speaking of pirates, about four of them began shooting . The same gunfire slowly stopped firing followed by Hadumar saying, “Heh, your unlucky day,” and began walking inward firing away, his armor taking up most of the passage way.

“Let's get in there before the commander takes all the fun!” yelled out Kyle who rushed in to find some cover to fire at the enemy.

Evelyn winced at Kyle’s sudden rush into action, not at his joke. With a sigh, she said “I’ll take the rear. I’m the medic, after all. I’ll need the room to drag people back in these tight spaces.” She kicked a wall with a grimace. She didn’t like being closed in so much that movement was limited. She wasn’t some Nightdweller, at home in the dark corners of a cave with nothing but the light of her eyes to guide her way through tunnels. “Scheisse.” She whispered to herself. Cursing was a habit she had picked up only when she had joined the military.

It wasn't long before the first route was cleared, the commander turned to give his order, which was about all he could turn since he took up about 2/3's of the space, “All right move up, we shall go this way while Hector's team watches our rear.” He then continued his own movement, ducking under a doorway and taking advantage of being armored to step into gunfire first in the next hallway. The Pirates seemed to have known the marines were coming, with junk on the floor being used for cover.

Kyle and Briggs both stuck to their commander's back, with Kyle using him like hiding behind of a tank while Briggs used cover. June meanwhile stayed close with the medic holding out her handgun. “Hey, lets go over there,” June suggested pointing to a door that the Stabsbootsmann had passed up, “We might find something interesting there, otherwise these guys could do the whole mission without us.”

Evelyn winced. "Are you sure that's a good idea? Herr Stabsbootsmann didn't give any orders about this."

June just shrugged, "Well, we are supposed to cover him, if something is over there waiting to ambush them, we wouldn't be able to do anything back here now will we?" After saying as much, June kept her head down while making her way to the door, careful not to take random shots from the other end of the shootout.

With a groan, Evelyn leapt after her. Her blood as well as her weapon was up and ready. "I have your back."

Upon inspection of the room which the two girls made safely to, was empty. June however was silent and headed inside slowly while staying alert, and headed into the next room, which was also silent.

The Third room however was occupied, and voices could be heard. “Well well, what is going on here,” she said in a low voice before pushing the door open slowly while peeking a look.

Were Evelyn a cat, her fur would have bristled in fear and anger. Pirates. Combat. Death, blood, screaming. It all awaited them just inside that room.

Unfortunate, Evelyn's stealthy movements were not so stealthy, “What was that?” one of the pirates asked.

“Scheisse!” yelled out Jun softly, quickly pulling out a flashbang and armed it. Throwing it in the room, a soft explosion could be heard a second later complete with yelling pirates who had no idea what hit them. “You have the bigger gun, get in there!” June helped Evelyn get into the room, and came in after firing her handgun.

Evelyn held up her Field Rifle and fired. Her eyes automatically picked a target, her hands moved the weapon's sights to center of mass, and her finger pulled the trigger. She didn't care about how dumb it was to step out of cover and into fire, her adrenaline was up and pushing her into a numb, angry stupor.

Evelyn managed to riddle two of the pirates with bullets before her weapon ran out of ammo, and June managed to kill one that was retreating from the hallway. They apparently had a missile launcher they planned to use on the Stabsbootsmann as he passed by the door. Their commander's voice came over the comms, “Tell me later what happened, we have to rush to Engineering if we want to blow this sucker up in time. Metal footsteps of his armor could be heard from the distance trying to rush the cramped hallways.

“Oh we just had to take out some of your fans is all” June replied as she left the room to catch up with Hadumar.

Evelyn didn't say anything, still caught up in her stupor. She followed June, reloading her weapon as she went.

Finally the team made it to the room they needed to be in, the Engineering, there were very few working there and they immediately put their hands up when they saw the Marines. Keeping his guns leveled at them, Hadumar ordered, “Briggs and Kyle, plant the explosives.”

“What are you going to do with us?” one of the Engineers asked the Marines.

Hadumar shot them in a volley without second thought, not really caring about those associating with Pirates. However, June looked around but then noticed something on the other side of the room, and holstered her handgun for the rifle.

"Wait..." Evelyn stopped, looking at the dead pirates.

"You just..."

Evelyn dropped the rifle from her hands, letting the strap hold it to her as she rushed toward the bodies. She began checking them for pulses, looking for anyone still living.

"How could... Why did..."

"Don't get emotional now, Corpsman" Stabsbootsmann Hadumar stated while lowering his weapons, "They are pirate collaborators, they have no rights."

Evelyn would find that the damage was terminal, the few engineers were already dead if not going to be soon. One of them was a male missing a couple of arms, which seemed a little strange.

Someone spoke from the other side of Engineering. “My my, you Abwehrans are a scary bunch, to kill a few unarmed engineers just because we took them hostage,” spoke a female voice filled with sarcasm.

A loud bang fired out, coming from June's rifle who was aiming at the enemy across the hall. She had noticed the armor standing there, but to her dismay it was a miss since the armor side stepped quickly. The voice was then taunting, “Better hurry, or you might miss your shuttle!” The sound of an armor speeding off could be heard, as well as the sound of an incoming transmission.

“Sir!” Renate's voice yelled over the comms, “We have trouble!” Gunfire could be heard over the communications.

Hadumar cursed his luck, it seemed the woman was probably the leader, though he probably got at least the objective done. After Briggs and Kyle reported in that the explosives were ready, Hadumar ordered, “Hector, hurry your team back to the shuttle, we will be right behind you.” He then ordered to his team, namely his medic, “GET MOVING, if we don't then we won't have a shuttle to leave on!” He then turned to run, along with the rest of his team.

June however stayed behind, placing a hand on Evelyn's shoulder and tried to comfort her a little, “Come on, we can't do anything here.”

Evelyn continued to sit there looking at her hands, “Blood... Murder... I'm a Murder!”

June sighed, “Sorry about this, not my kind of thing,” and punched Evelyn's vital point with one swift punch to knock her out. The sniper grabbed the girl before she fell and picked her up, and hurried as fast as she could.

On the bridge of the Remscheid, tacticle screens were all on the red, they managed to keep the one drone alive but three enemy drones changed their heading for the Remscheid after the shuttles made their landing. The shield was weakening under the combined assault, and it was possible that a missile could end it all for the Remscheid.

Suddenly, something unexpected occurred, "Sir, and explosion in the enemy drone hanger! Confirmed, it was one of our shuttles!"

Vogel's eyebrow raised wondering what could be going on there, followed by her standing up when she heard, "Sir, enemy drones are now unresponsive. Something is happening inside the enemy ship!"

From their viewpoint, it seemed as though the ship suddenly turned off. All matter of weapons and movement ceased before the metal plates of the ship began to stress as explosions rocked the ship. Then in the ship exploded into a brown ball of grayish steel as the fire was killed at the same time of the ship's destruction.

The bridge was quiet for a second, before someone said, "We got communications fromSchiffchen 2. Seems they are all ok, only casualties was the Schiffchen 1 pilots due to a..."

"Let them report it later," interrupted Vogel as she took her seat again. "For now report them on a good job, and tell the rest of the ship. Helmsmen, plot a course an get us back on schedule. We leave once the Schiffchen and remaining drone gets back."

The HMS Remscheid finally arrived at it's destination, and in the end finished it's mission in escorting the Hirschhorn Corp's merchant ship, the Ugsted. Fredrick Bogerstien, the captain of the ship, gave a harsh letter to the military which was about a page long though in the end praised their efforts. This was forgotten quickly by the crew however, who were more relieved that their first tour of duty had came to an end with a few stories to tell as well.

The ship found it's way to the Schongebiet Military Outpost near the second planet, where the ship's crew was given leave while the ship underwent repairs from their grand adventure.

Eveyln Fritz however was held in her quarters for the duration of the trip, and is cleared to leave as long as she was mentally stable, or had seen a counselor.
