History
Born in the year YE 08, his father and mother were as loving a parentage as a person could have asked for. His brother, Kentaro, is two years his junior. At age 8, Benjiro's father was involved in smalltime organized crime to help feed his family and was mortally wounded in a gangland killing. On his deathbed, his father gave him his green stone pendant and told Benjiro to never sell his honor for anything. Benjiro swore this, and his father passed away before his eyes.
At the age of 18, Benjiro decided to pursue a career he was sure would bring honor to his family, that of an enlisted in the Star Army. Kentaro became involved in some shady dealings and hasn't been heard from since.
Since he completed his training, Benjiro has been anxious to get an assignment and to begin his career.
Skills:
Communication: Benjiro is familiar with basic radio operation and procedures and can make transmissions to and receive transmissions from other characters through headsets, starships, power armor, and shuttles in both combat and non-combat conditions. He is fluent in English. He can speak and write both correctly and efficiently and can write reports, fill forms, issue orders under fire, etc.
Fighting and Physical: Benjiro received hand-to-hand combat training by way of loading all the necessary related knowledge into his memory, and then following up with a rigorous training program. He is skilled and experienced in combat both in Yamatai-like conditions and in zero-gravity, with and without weapons. Weapons he is trained in include energy pistols, knives, and power armor. Because he is an Enlisted, Benjiro is also proficient with grenades and energy rifles.
Information Technology: Benjiro is capable of operating any computer system that uses the Kessaku OS, found on all Star Army starships. He is proficient in entering and/or searching for information.
Mathematics: He has recieved mathematical tutelage, up to and including algebra and trigonometry.
Culinary: Because of living with his single mother, Benjiro has learned how to cook for himself and others out of necessity. As such, he has the foundations of the culinary arts down to a science.
Domestic: Since his mother often had to work to support the family, Benjiro was in charge of making sure the housecleaning was done. He was also required to make sure his younger brother stayed out of trouble and has been charged with his protection.
Art and Vocations: Because Benjiro didn't usually have time for play with his peers, he found a pleasant pastime in the arts. The various books he read allowed him to travel and learn things that otherwise would have been inaccessable to one in his position. Benjiro has learned a love for the visual medium through various art books he read over the years. He is especially fond of animation, being art in motion.
