Sune (pronounced Su Nay) walked down the concourse from the transport into the Gemini Star Fortress Station. His duffle bag slung over his shoulder, he walked briskly down the ramp. There was a urgency and purpose to everyone around him, most likely the news of a state of war between Yamatai and the Opportunists' Social Club. He walked past a few technicians doing a diagnostic on a panel in the concourse.

Stepping out of the end of the concourse Sune paused to take in the area. Sune felt a brief pang of frustration. His ship the Eucharis was off on a mission, and his orders were to wait here. He decided on a plan of action, first find the transient enlisted billets, then get a feel for the station, then perhaps, see what he could learn about the ship, and his future crew. He looked for some sign of a directory to help him with the first task.

"Well that was informative, but not truly helpful." Sune thought to himself. So he walked to the moving walkways. This would give him the opportunity to get a feel for the area, and if he didn't spot anything along the way, he would finally have to approach someone.

After riding the walkway for a while, he looked for a group of Star Army personnel. He stepped off the walk way and approached them. He waited for a pause in their discussion. "Excuse me, could one of you tell me where to find visitor quarters? I just arrived and am waiting for my ship to return to the base."

A transport docked with the Gemini Star Fortress and and out of the concourse walked a tall, skinny Yamataian. Ramiro Valencia stepped off the shuttle and set his bags down as he observed all of his surroundings then picked his bag back up and started towards the main entrance.

As he walked towards the center of the station he noticed a sign stating generic details about the fortress class. After giving the sign a brief look he started across a moving walkway. Once inside he noticed a man in a very clean and new looking uniform carrying a duffle bag. He assumed this man must be whom his order spoke of. He approached the man and what looked to be tech personal.

"Jalen Sune?" He asked as he extended a hand. "My name is Ramiro Valencia, I'm also a new enlist that will be joining you and the crew of the YSS Eucharis upon completion of its mission."

After receiving no response Ramiro shrugged his shoulders a little and walked onwards towards the center of the fortress. As he walked he searched for someone who looked liked he or she knew what they were doing.

After walking for about 10 minutes he passed a woman who looked really important and had a medal attached to her uniform. After deciding she looked like she knew what she was doing he turned to her, and immediately dropped his bags and saluted.

"Santรด Hei Ramiro Trinidad Valencia of the Star Army of Yamatai reporting ma'am. Requesting lodging within the Gemini Star Fortress while awaiting retrieval from the YSS Eucharis."

The Neko, part of the local security staff, contacted another neko that made arrangements. In a minute, the station computer sent Ramiro a set of directions and maps, leading to a temporary lodging bay not too far away.

The bay was long and quiet, lined with nooks--each with two wall lockers and a bed. A shower and restroom were located at the end opposite the entrance. Only a handful of beds were occupied. Aside from a little dustiness, the area was clean.

Someone had left a large data pad on one of the beds, the kind typically used to view e-newspapers and catalogs.

Ramiro saluted as he said "My gratitude ma'am" and followed the map he had received. When re reached his room he walked in, made a quick glance around the room, and walked over to the far bed where he dropped his stuff down and sat on the bed.

Looking around and deciding that the lodging was adequate, he walked over to the lockers and placed all of his stuff in them. He then grabbed a clean uniform and head over to the shower, realizing he hadn't showered in three days.

After exiting the shower, he quickly dressed and decided to go exploring his hopefully temporary home. He exited his quarters and wandered around a bit, and eventually came to the area where his transport had docked. After making a quick chuckle at his stupidity of going back from where he had come.

As he turned around he once again noticed the sign stating generic details about the fortress. This time he took the time to read all of the information. Once finished he continued wandering. After coming to a couple more docking stations and one or two doors which security quickly whisked him away from he got bored and decided to head back to his quarters.

Sune decided that the casual method of finding his way around the station was not working. So he went to the nearest computer terminal. He entered a query for temporary quarters for the duration of his stay pending the return of the Eucharis. The computer gave him a room assignment, and directions there. It also showed him that there was another crewman awaiting the Eucharis. Well, at least there will be someone that I can talk with while waiting for the ship to return. he thought. Picking up his duffle bag he made his way to the quarters. He checked out the accomondations, found an empty set of lockers and stowed his gear.

He pulled out his TET Game Buddy and pulled up one of his favorite programs. I'll wait here rather than trying to search Gemini for Valencia-Hei. He thought as he started the program.

After finding his way back to his quarters and entered, seeing a new man at one of the beds. Thinking back to when he first entered he realized this person must be Sune. He approached, making sure not to startle him, and extended a hand.

"Sune? My name is Ramiro Valencia, I'm a new recruit that will be joining you as another new enlistee onboard the YSS Eucharis."

Sune turned off his TET Game Buddy. Stood up and shook Ramiro's hand. "Yes, I am Jalen Sune, a pleasure to make your acquaintance. Although as for joining the Eucharis, that really depends on how the interview goes with Ketsurui-Taisa. After all it is her command."

"Well said, and I am also pleased to make your acquaintance." He said this as Jalen shook his hand. "Although for both of our sakes lets hope we will be working together on board the Eucharis."

"I can agree with that. We both have the same aspiration, hopefully we will be able to convince Ketsurui-Taisa that we will be useful additions. So what position are you hoping to fill aboard the Eucharis?" Sune asked, sitting back on the bed.

"Actually I am hoping to become a starship operator. I have had a fascination with the workings of a starship and its crew since i was a child and have studied to work as such for as long as I can remember."

He took a seat on the bed as he spoke. "And what of you, what position do you wish to fulfill?"

That's a good question, especially after reviewing the Eucharis roster. Sune thought. "To be brutally honest, I am uncertain what position I will hold. I trained to be a medic, but checking the roster I find that the Eucharis already has one. Given Yamamataian, and Nekovalkyrja physiology, with the exception of after combat situations I'm uncertain if their is sufficient justification for two aboard. So I am doing some thinking of how my talents can best serve the Star Army aboard her."

"I suppose that makes sense, and if it comes down to it there are certain ways around picking a position." Ramiro turned to him as he said this. "For one, if asked what position you want during the interview you can just tell the captain you would like to go wherever she feels you would be most helpful. That way you avoid the question while looking loyal and helpful at the same time."

"I intend to just be direct with the Taisa. Under normal circumstances on a ship of this size, a second medic is redundant. So I will propose to the commander that I would better serve the ship in another capacity, and use my medical skills when situations warrant it. For example after combat, in triaging and treating casualties. From what I have seen of her record, I suspect that she would appreciate directness and honesty." Jalen picked up his game and put it in his bag. "So, I presume you were a Geshrin prior to becoming a Yamataian?"

"No, my family was Nepleslian, but I had myself changed into a Yamataian after I ran away from home and my father, he was Nepleslian military. Once the technology was available to change I did and at one point I returned home to visit my family and my father flew into a rage, said I was disrespecting my ancestors by doing something of the sort. I guess he sort of expected me to be the same as him. Ever since I was a kid he trained me to be a soldier, from sun up till sundown he'd work me to the bone. He did that ever day he could, at least until I ran away. But I also have him to thank, if he didn't train me in survival skills and stealth I never would have been able to make it far enough to even enlist or been able to do all thew studying on starships I did as a child right under his nose."

Sune sat for a moment thinking about what Ramiro said, then he replied. "It has been my observation, that a parent's perception of what is best for thier child, often does not coincide with those of said child. I found it quite the quandary; after all who should know their child better than the person or persons who raised and trained them. Yet when the parent raises a child to be independent, they appear surprised when the child chooses a path different than what the parent expected. The result as you said, tends to be emotional and bombastic, with the parties involved saying things they don't mean." Sune paused, "I am confident that with time, your father will come to see your service to the Empress as a worthy endeavor."

"I suppose you're right. And hopefully he'll come through." Ramiro looked up at Sune with a questioning look. "You seem to know a lot about this topic." He said it with a friendly, yet inquiring tone.
