Aya noted Kuroneko's absence with a sinking feeling. The black void of the night they found themselves in as they left the town did things no favour either, the darkness devouring everything except their meagre light. Her anxiety only deepened once they reached the camp. From what Aya could see, it seemed like Kuroneko had been locked in deadly combat with a fearsome beast. Abruptly, the sky blue skinned Nekovalkyrja felt very naked without the familiar feeling of her powered armour. Once this mission was over, she would never complain about them again. It certainly beat brigandine, that was for sure.
Like Freyja and Dimitri she hadn't left much at the camp, but that didn't make the damage any less serious. Every bit of food the monster - or monsters, come to think of it - had eaten was less food to sustain the group on their journey, for example. And that would be a serious concern now they had extra mouths to feed. The mystery of Adelaide's handmaiden piqued her curiosity, but there were more pressing matters to attend to. Still focusing on the ravaged camp around her, she said to Freyja, "Kuroneko is... memorable, let me put it that way. She's very friendly, though, so don't worry about getting along with her. And she's saved us several times before." As she finished speaking, she recalled the desperate firefights in the mall, particularly with Tulip - and how they had first encountered Kuroneko. Here's hoping that she hasn't bitten off more than she can chew...
