Does The Star Army Have Midshipmen?

What's the general thing about midshipmen for Star Army? Are they like Mids now (trapped in school environment) or like the Midshipmen of olden days that would learn while on board a ship (like the midshipman who was at the battle of Tripoli).

Curious because I can think of some things I can do RP-wise either way.

They are trained at the Star Army Academy at Tania, Yamatai OR in the field aboard a starship. ^_^
