RP: YSS Genesis [Episode 3] Frozen Wranglers

Yoko snorted at the question. "I don't know why youa askin, but Geshrin born, Nepleslian raised. Childhood got awkward for me at times, yaknow?" she answered. She waved it away. "Anyways, hea comes lesson one, okay? So pay attention real, real close like!" Reaching into one of her pockets, Yoko drew out her datapad and punched in a few quick orders. And in a blink of an eye, the two were weightless.

"Yous can turn off the gravity plating dummy!" the head engineer laughed at her subordinate. "Just keep in mind there's workin hardah and then there's workin smartah," she added after wiping away a speck of sweat.

Sierra watched as the shuttle came in, but noticed that people who needed to be there had indeed shown up to do their jobs. Ah, good. the redheaded exec thought things seem to be working like a real ship.

Kin simply nodded, understanding the mission. "What do we have to attach the comet to the ship, as there don't seem to be any graviton beam systems on the ship as there are on Star Army vessels."

"Oh, right." Sierra muttered, looking around and finding what she was looking for. it was a crate, the lid of which she slid off, before she moved to a nearby crate, which she also slid the lid off of. The crates held what looked to be Gauss rifles and harpoons. she also pointed to four large drums nearby.

"I modified these Gauss rifles to fire these big stakes, which you can use to anchor those four cables to the Comet. once you've done that, the Genesis is to come in close and hold as steady as it can so that we can attach the lines to the bag of the ship, and then it's full steam ahead. I think this mission was designed to test the strength of the frame construction as well as the power output the engines are capable of."

OriSec private Fieke Amsel came into the hangar having just finished smoothing the last crease out of her work uniform, and with the matching cap still tucked under one arm. Spotting her co-worker, and fellow Nightwalker, Rüd already further in and looking suitably menacing as he watched the incoming shuttle the young private stepped into the hangar proper.

Jogging towards the larger Abwehran, Fieke was thankful she hadn't brought her shashka with her – as despite being guardless the sword was a rather long sabre – since the sheathed and frankly unnecessary blade would have only served as an extra appendage here to bump into people she was already coming a bit too rudely close too.

Considering she hadn't gotten around much despite being assigned to the Genesis from the start Fieke was also unsure if some of her shipmates might be a bit prickly over the fact that she would be running around armed with a very utilitarian and cared for blade if she had just run out with her normal habit.

Pulling up right beside Rüd and finally removing her OriSec ball cap out from under her arm and placing it on her head, Fieke gave a short wave to her fellow.

“Anything interesting enough going on down here for you to be peering about so intently, yah big baldy?” Fieke inquired of Rüd.

Rüd snorted with amusement and applied one meaty hand to a slap upside the back of Fieke's skull, knocking the cap awry. "You best watch yourself, Amsel. I'm Chief of Security now." Despite the rebuke, he had a playful smirk on his face. He shifted gears- back to business- and answered, "Probably not, but protocol is what it is. I take it you know what to look for in an inventory sweep?"

Tani Mako Walked up the crates and looked at the Gauss rifles. She was proficient with rifles and all she had to do was hit the broad side of an comet. How hard could this be. "Ma'am at what distance will the ship move to compared to the comet?"

Shuttle

Lina was nearly done with her checklist when the shuttle door opened fully, bathing the inside of the shuttle with the bright light of the bay. She squented her eyes briefly at the brightness, before they adapted quickly.

The light revealed that she was wearing the service dress uniform over her type 30b uniform. She looked up from her work, her ears twitching as she listened to the noise in the bay and the movement of feet and the voices. A couple people... she pondered as her eyes focused on two indivisuals that she could make out.

She turned toward her bag, which was right beside the cockpits entrance and picked it up, hefting it over her shoulder easily and walked casually toward the exit.

"Well, there's the pilot coming out now." Spencer interjected. His tone was more indicative of expediency than anything else. "How about you guys let me worry about the cataloging process, and just look through it for anythin' suspicious, huh? And make yourselves useful an' help me haul it all off the shuttle and onto a utility cart. I ain't got all day to be sittin' here lookin' stupid while the tentacle-humpers play with spears. I got other work needs doin'."

Instead of responding to Rüd, Fieke instead just lightly punched one of the larger Abwehran's arms and chuckled before straightening her ball cap.

Turning towards Spencer the Fieke gave the Nepleslian man a professional nod. Picking up on Spencer's attitude for just getting the job on with, the Abwehran private quickly stretched and then took a few steps forward.

Cupping her hands to her mouth, Fieke yelled across the open hangar at Lina. “Hold your ground right there pilot!" Waving with one hand while keeping the other cupped to her mouth, Fieke made sure Lina could easily see her before continuing. "Feel free to make yourself comfortable if it would please yah though, we don't want anyone going around calling OriSec brutes!” Putting her hands down and turning her head back towards Rüd, Fieke grinned at her boss with great abandonment before turning back towards her yelling. “Sorry about it all, but we'll be over there in second and start razzing you in full! Y'know how protocol goes, nothing unnecessary, but nothing avoidable either!”

Turning fully around to face Rüd, Fieke laughed as she smiled. “I'm liking today. Anyway Boss Baldy, Master-Chief of Security, you coming along for this little detail or is it below your “position” at this conjuncture?”

Enjoying getting to poke some fun at Rüd after he had knocked her cap about Fieke grinned again before turning and - as promised - jogged straight towards Lina and the shuttle as quick as she could without disrupting any of the other groups working around the hangar.

Amethyst shrugged "Just curiou-wAOW" She yelped in sudden surprise as she felt gravity slip away. Not exactly one of her favourite sensations.
Something that became rather clear in her panicky reaction to grasp onto anything to hold her down... an interesting contrast to her usual calm self.

Amethyst's eyes were wide and stared straight at Yoko "y-yes... weightless conduits would be n-nice... just... warn me... next time alright?" she stammered, slowly letting go of the tubes and pipes she was holding onto.

She sighed and tried to relax, acclimatising to the new environment.
Slowly her calm smile returned and her eyes weren't that of someone on enhancing drugs anymore either.

Carefully she pushed herself about a bit to become level with Yoko and the floor again "I'm just curious is all really, technology on all kinds of levels fascinate me, be it big, slow, beating machines, or highly refined tools, gadgets, or even beings." She explained with a pleasant smile towards Yoko "It's just nice to see a Geshrin with such an attitude, bet it also confuses people, like that poor Spencer... nothing wrong with Yamataian culture of course... but, y'know"

Apparently his subordinate had received the wrong message. He would have to straighten that out later, and privately as it had been his own fault.

The Security Chief strode alongside the Quartermaster toward the spacecraft, grabbing hold of a utility cart along the way. As they passed Amsel and the pilot, he clarified the job for her. "Once you've cleared the crew, help us unload. Don't dawdle."

Shinon did not have anymore questions towards Sierra so she turned to her team and took few seconds to look at them. She still did not get to know them all that well. Three pairs of SAoY pilots and Shinon herself as her leader. It was not big unit but along with the orisec personnel it should suffice.

"Okay people gather up," she called them out. "You heard miss Merkur. This mission should be pretty easy, just fire a hook at some comet. That does not mean we should slack of. This is also good opportunity to test these Impulse armours and Gauss rifles in the field."

She then though for a moment, who will be four people with harpoon rifles. She looked at member of her unit, before she decided. "Okay Shimei-hei, Nakamura-heisho, Nova-hei and Mako-hei. You are on the firing duty for today. Grab a gauss rifle with harpoons and get ready. Sinclai-hei, Tamari-hei you are on guard duty. Watch everyones back, there might ice shard flying around." She gave out duty assignments and turned back to Sierra.

"I would like to have Gauss rifle for everyone so even people not firing the hooks will get used to using it." Shinon told the redhead and smiled. "Plus we will be ready if some pirate will show up or something." She laughed at her little joke.

As her superior passed by going about his own work, Fieke's response to his clarification was a mix between a quick, respectful nod and an apologetic murmur. Rüd, if he bothered to listen to his subordinate as he passed, would have gotten something along the lines of a few hurried lines of “Sorry” followed up by quite a few “Sirs” and a muddled ending that sounding like a promise to keep within professional boundaries in the future.

Embarrassment clear on her face – though cut with a thick streak of stubbornness and the willingness to rectify her outburst – the OriSec private turned her attention squarely towards Lina.

“Ma'am. Private Amsel, Origin Security Detachment.” Fieke said as she offered her hand in greeting with a clean smile despite the warring emotions spread for all to read across her face. “Welcome aboard the Genesis, Ma'am. I offer my full apologies for any untoward behavior I have exhibited, and sincerely hope that any actions of mine have not affected your view of the crew as a whole!”

It was hard for her to get angry at the outburst, harder still for her to chastize a group of people whom weren't part of the military. She had kept her eyes on her general surrouding, the outburst of which didn't phase her at all since it wasn't exactly easy to tell a person's rank from a distance sometimes.

"It hasn't," said spoke calmly and without any hint of anger, it was all calm with a hint of professalism mixed in. "Had it, you'd have known," now a grin formed on her face as she looked up and around the bay. "Quite lively right now, I take it I must be just in time for a party," a simple excited looking smile appeared as she looked over at a crate that was being looked at by the others.

"Ahh, but where are my manners?" she smiled. "My name's Shoi Yusentia Lina, it is good to meet you Private Amsel."

"Am I late?" Evelyn approached the shuttle that had just docked. She herself had arrived only a moment ago, but had waited for the Shoi to finish speaking.

"I'm Corporal Evelyn Fritz, the medic aboard the Genesis. I was told there were medical supplies aboard. Do either of you know where the Quartermaster is so I can arrange for the right boxes to head to the right place?" She wanted to be done and head back to the medical bay. It was left unattended -- rarely a good thing. At least no one had been hurt yet. She hoped.

“It's a pleasure.” Fieke told Lina in response to her introduction. “And we all do try and keep busy here – both Star Army personnel and the rest of us from Ori -”

Fieke cut herself off as Corporal Fritz, another of her superiors arrived to the conversation. Saluting with a familiarity that belayed her militaristic upbringing the young Nightwalker did her best to maintain the proper show of discipline she had hopelessly shattered for herself early. It would have helped though if the private could have hid how she felt about acting out like she had – her face still thoroughly showed signs of embarrassment.

“Corporal Fritz, the Chief and Quartermaster are further inside already taking care of the cargo duties.” Fieke gestured in the direction that Rüd had gone off with the utility cart with her left hand, while her right floated awkwardly around her waist looking to rest upon the sword hilt that would have been there had she not left her weapon in her room. “They should be able to help you and I'll be assisting with unloading after I'm done with processing here.”

Nodding towards Lina, Fieke continued. “Corporal, Shoi Yusentia herself has been cleared for entry aboard all ready, but procedure calls for an inspection of personal baggage.” Hoping Evelyn would understand that the OriSec private wasn't trying to delay her in her duties, but only trying to avoid breaking the chain of command by ignoring a superior, Fieke gestured to the bag Lina had over one shoulder. “If both parties find no problem with such a search, we can get things underway very smoothly Ma'ams.”

As Yoko quickly checked over the plasma conduit, she looked over her shoulder at Amethyst, her eyes narrowing ever so slightly. "Heh! Yous makin it sound like ya can just tell I'ma Gesh by just lookin or somethin, yaknow?" the head engineer replied, her voice still rather jovial despite her expression. Though she seemed to have stiffened a bit, she relaxed and went on, "Though, I probably told ya all somewheres I bet." Yoko then turned her attention back to the conduit, and with another check, got started on the next phase. "Anyways. Gravity back on in three, two, one - " The pull of the deck plates below them resumed at her mark, yanking them back down as though a dream had popped.

"Next step!" She smiled at Amethyst. "The pipe checks all clear, so why don't do the honors and reactivate this goil?" Yoko suggested, moving to the side so the other engineer could have better access. "Just hit it up on youa datapad, and get it goin."

Kin bowed with a swift "Ma'am", as did Shimei, Sinclair, Nova, and Tamari. Those who hadn't been wearing their helmets attached them, and Nakamura, Shimei, and Nova went and collected their modified Gauss rifles.

"Oh, umm, sure, you should have no trouble getting the normal rifles, if you want, Miss Maverick." Sierra answered to Shinon's request for the normal gauss rifles just in case. "They should be over there" the Junior exec pointed toward a door on the other side of the hangar "And you should be able to access that room to get them. If you need any support, just contact my communicator and I'll see what I can do."

As Yoko quickly checked over the plasma conduit, she looked over her shoulder at Amethyst, her eyes narrowing ever so slightly. "Heh! Yous makin it sound like ya can just tell I'ma Gesh by just lookin or somethin, yaknow?"

Amethyst blushed lightly in responce and darted her eyes away... staying quiet as Yoko checked up on the conduit, readying herself again for the drop.

After they both had come to the floor again she fished out her datapad.
"Well... I couldn't tell, that's exactly what amazes me." She said with a timid smile. "But I was a bit shy to ask if you are Nepleslian too, you never know who you may offend these days, and in what ways."

Plucking in some orders as she continued babbling "Technology inspires me is all, I'm absolutely not trying to be degrading... Maybe I should shut up now..." she said as she felt she was digging her own hole even deeper. The last order appeared on her screen, hitting confirm.

Slowly the conduit started giving a gentle humm, increasing slightly for a while, then stabilizing into a nice faint buzz "She sounds just fine to me." She added with a pleased look.

Spencer clapped his hands together as they entered the shuttle and spied the boxes stacked neatly in front of him. 'Such a nice arrangement. Very easy to work with.' He thought to himself. Weathered hands worked the lids of the top boxes in each stack. They pried away at the containers, revealing more boxes within.

"Here, Garlic." He instructed the chief of security behind him, "Put yer gaze on these needles, check an' see they ain't laser guns."

Almost immediately, Spencer spun around and pried open the next box, discovering gauze and painkillers in an orderly split. He clicked his teeth at this. "Might wanna get a lockbox for the med-bay if they haven't already got one. Some of this stuff looks like it'll make ya feel real nice."

Lina's eye-brow partly raised when she heard that her belongings needed to be searched, it wasn't something she was accustumed to while boarding a vessel that bore the Star Army seal on it.

"Don't see a problem here," she said and flipped the bag around to the front and set it down carefully. "You'll find the typical items, clothing and a few hygenics, along with an ICP and Katana."
