RP: YSS Genesis [Episode 3] Frozen Wranglers

"Sinclair-hei, Tamari-hei grab yourself a rifle and please bring one for me too. Take one magazine with live ammo for each rifle. Standart safety protocols, do not lead weapons yet." Shinon instructed two of her subordinates and then turned to Sierra again.

"Thank you miss Merkur," she said with gentle smile. "We well get this job done, you can trust my team." Shinon liked saying 'my team' a lot. She finally felt like an officer rather than just cadet.

Hanger Bay

Tani Mako moved to grab on of the special modified Gauss rifles, along with a harpoon. she made sure her pistol was loaded but with the safety on. smiling to herself she boasted to the rest of the team, "I bet you all I'll get my harpoon attached and locked to the ship before the rest of you." She readied the rifle and waited for the order to head out.

"Hai, Ma'am!" Sinclair and Tamari responded to Shinon, saluting her and hustling off to grab the rifles, the ship having heard Shinon's verbal permissions and allowing them through without delay. The duo soon arrived back and handed Shinon the rifle which she had requested, holding their own rifles in hand.

"Now now, Tani-Hei." Kin began, chiding the young Neko a bit. "Don't get overexcited about this. This is a serious job, and you could get hurt or killed if you're too hasty. Make sure to be aware of your surroundings and be certain of what you're doing before you do it." The tall Yamataian placed an armored hand on Mako's armored shoulder, giving her a firm shake of affirmation.

"Maverick-Shoi, Do we have permission to sortie? it appears we are nearly at the comet." Kin asked, pointing a thumb out the forward facing hangar door, through which they could now see that they had arrived inside the asteroid belt, and a foggy, bluish colored ball was before them, obviously the comet.

"Okay everyone. Saddle up!" Shinon shouted at her squad. "Check your amours again. We are moving out." She said and did all the tests herself. Her amour was green on all levels. She checked rile handed to her and was pleased that all was okay. Making sure that that rifle loaded with live ammo is safely trigger-locked and won't fire.

"Genesis bridge, this is Maverick-shoi. I ask for permission to sortie." Shinon opened comm line to the bridge. "We have visual on the comet and are ready to move out once you give us a go. Designated troopers that will hook the comet are Shimei-hei, Nakamura-heisho, Nova-hei and Mako-hei. Please relay the target location to their suit HUDs." Everything by a protocol. At least for now.

Rüd strode over with a smirk, spied the needles, and hoisted the first box onto the cart. Then he stopped and did a double-take. "Wait a second..." He lifted one syringe from the box, surveyed it from a multitude of angles, then put it away. "Nope. Not a laser gun."

"Feel nice, hm?" Rüd peered inside along with the Quartermaster, then nodded. "Damn right it will. I'll make sure the med bay folks get it locked up. Speaking of which, why aren't the med personnel doing their own inventory? Makes no sense for you to be doing their paperwork. Not your department, not your stuff." He explained his concerns while hauling the drugs and wraps to the cart.

"Garlic, as far as I'm concerned, this whole damn ship is my department, an' my stuff." Spencer tallied the boxes of gauze just so, counting his gauze. He took a great deal of pride in his job, as unusual as it was in the modern era of computerized inventories.

"I got no notion of ownership here, believe me. It's just that you get out into space with all these young go-getter Yamataian brats and all these luxed-up easy-going Origin executives with their fine cars..." Spencer paused, as a cowboy would typically drink from his whiskey flask at this point. He had no flask, and was left to scratch at his nose before continuing, "They gets out here and there they all go, usin' stuff. Usin' it all up before you're even halfway outta port."

"I think you underestimate some of them... and overestimate others, but I see your point." Rüd got back to hauling the goods. Keeping pace with the Quartermaster was easy given his size, musculature, and the sort of imports. "Speaking of the ship," the Nightwalker began, shifting directions yet again, "It doesn't have any stairs. Not one. Pretty sure that's a hazard and a liability and a lawsuit all wrapped up in one."

Amethyst blushed lightly in responce and darted her eyes away... staying quiet as Yoko checked up on the conduit, readying herself again for the drop.

After they both had come to the floor again she fished out her datapad.
"Well... I couldn't tell, that's exactly what amazes me." She said with a timid smile. "But I was a bit shy to ask if you are Nepleslian too, you never know who you may offend these days, and in what ways."

Plucking in some orders as she continued babbling "Technology inspires me is all, I'm absolutely not trying to be degrading... Maybe I should shut up now..." she said as she felt she was digging her own hole even deeper. The last order appeared on her screen, hitting confirm.

Slowly the conduit started giving a gentle humm, increasing slightly for a while, then stabilizing into a nice faint buzz "She sounds just fine to me." She added with a pleased look.

Yoko uncomfortably rubbed her neck for a moment before glancing at her own datapad, looking at the readings coming from the now active plasma conduit. "Naw, it's fine. Don't worry youa head ova that goil," she finally replied, finally looking up at the other engineer with a crooked grin. "And nows, we gots nothin to do otha than twiddle our thumbs and keep an eye on things to make sure nothin else breaks, yaknow?"

Though she started to recline a bit inside the cramped tunnel, the engineer perked up again as something else came up in her mind. "Unless tha Genny's got somethin though," Yoko decided to go on, questioning the AI of the ship. "But, the goil hasn't said anythin yet, so I doubt it," she added, waving it off with a leisurely hand.

Fieke took the bag as formally as she could. “Thank you Ma'am.” The OriSec private told Lina before turning to Evelyn and giving her a professional nod. “Corporal, I am proceeding with the inspection.”

Kneeling down with Lina's gear Fieke carefully set the bag flush to the ground and then pulled the zipper all the way back. As the Shoi had claimed the bag was filled with the normal personal effects (ICP included) and her katana.

Leaving the weapon for last Fieke first scanned the ICP with her eyes – leaving the device untouched – and when faced with its decidedly normal countenance and the identity of its owner dismissed it as a threat. Picking up a handful of neatly folded clothes Fieke only gave them a light squeeze and a few small flicks around the corners before gently laying the items back in place.

Finally taking more than a cursory look at Lisa's katana Fieke – like she had done with the ICP – refrained from touching the sheathed weapon, but took a long look to simply admire the sword's few visible parts.

Zipping the bag back up and standing quickly, Private Amsel held Lina's bag back out for her. “That's all that was necessary Ma'am, with that you and all your effects are clear for entry.” Her emotions back under control, Fieke smiled with a clear face as she continued. “And if I may say on personal note, that katana of yours is quite the beautiful piece and I'm certain it does right by you.”

Tani Smiled up at Kin, "Well, when you put it that way I'll have to watch myself. Don't want to go and get my self killed right out the gate." Still smiling she remembered that she didn't have a back up yet on this ship. Her smile started to slip a little, but she new that was an easy mission, all she had to do is walk out on to the hull of this ship and shoot a big rock. "But then again I got you watching my back," Winking she looked to Shinon for the Go command.

Lina gave a curt nod of the head. "Though the NMX would think otherwise," she grinned and picked up her bag and hefted it over her shoulder. "Might I ask where I can find the ships CO? Princess Ketsurui Rikou?" she asked.

The Genesis Responded to Yoko's query in what time she could, busy as thew ship was with navigating the asteroid field they were currently charging through in order to retrieve the comet from.
"I believe it would be prudent to make a check on the anchor points located at the rear of the ship, which will soon be utilized in an attempt to pull a comet to the planet Ake. I would like you to make sure that the points are properly attached, from both inside and out, so that we do not tear any holes in the hull from a failure."

************

A voice from the bridge responded to Shinon soon enough, it was one of the bridge operators, by the name of Kotoko. "You have clearance to sortie. Please be careful out there, there are a large number of objects which may prove hazardous, as we are in an asteroid field."

"Roger that control, we are heading out!" Shinon answered and sealed her suit. "Okay team, double check our suits. We are moving out, keep together until we get close and be bloody careful. We are in asteroid field. If anyone gets hit by something I will make sure to plan my boot up his or her arse that can taste it. Are we clear? Now make me proud!" She said and moved on the exit of the hangar.

She walked to the end of the loading ramp looking into broad vastness of space. Wouldn't it be for asteroids around, she would be a little scared. She was not fond of being without space without the safe-line. Shinon took the deep breathy and carefully flew out, her Gauss rifle held in her hands.

At that, Masami quietly moved forward, light on her feet, yet proud and confident all at once. "I am Ketsurui-Hime's samurai. If you would follow me, I will take you to her while the crew completes their inventory and search." She bowed only slightly to the newest crew member before indicating that Lina should follow her, or give a good reason not to. "She is currently supervising our departure, but she can easily receive you at the same time."

Lina looked the samurai over, never having actually seen one for herself and having only either read about them or seens vids. "You have my thanks, may I ask your name please?" she asked while following the samurai.

"Aw crap, that sounds impoatant!" Yoko moaned. "Oh boy, let's start crawlin outta heahs - c'mon, lets get goin!" she ushered Amethyst back the way they came down the cramped shaft. After looking over her datapad for some more of the details, she explained to the other engineer what they had to do. "There's some eee-vee-aey stuffs we can use to space ourselves back at the machine shop, and some moa by the locks if we needs it."

"We'ah gonna check the ones in hea first, then the ones outside. Any questions?" the Geshrin asked Amethyst.

Mako followed Shinon out of the ship, with her last step on the deck she pushed off. allowing herself free float out from the ship for a few seconds before kicking on her suits thrusters. She let the suits AI find the target and mark where her bolt had to hit. As she viewed the new tactical layover on her screen she continued to follow with the rest of her squad. she activated her radio to a private channel and sent and quick inquiry to Shinon,

Code:
Ma'am shouldn't we attach the cables first to the ship before moving out to firing range?

The other five power armor soon followed out the hangar door, and almost immediately upon their departure, the Genesis began to turn about, bringing its backside to bear on the asteroid, engines pulsing to slow the ship's momentum and bring keep it stationary in comparison to the comet.

Mako's AI would inform her that at the moment it could not get a clear reading on the surface of the comet, only letting her know that there was a cloud of particles around it that were interfering with its passive sensors. The others with the modified harpoon-rifles would find that they fared no better. Apparently it wasn't going to be a simple point-and-shoot like they had hoped.

**********

Spencer and Rued would find that the shuttle's contents, on top of what they had already uncovered, contained a large number of bandages, several hundred liters of Hemosynth in cold storage, an ST device, a year's worth of toiletry refills for the SAoY crew, and all the bits and pieces to make about fifteen medical kits

Shinon did not like what her AI was telling her. She missed AIES, which was more capable that PAWN unit Impulse used. If they used mindies, everything would be better. On the other hand, Shinon will gets to see how good at wearing PAs are her men and women.

"Okay team," Shinon started. "Everyone report your status every minute or so. Be careful about chunks of ice and such things. We need to get closer!" She said and pushed forward, staying close to Mako. One of the harpooners will have to approach the comet on his own, with less back up, because team had odd numbers. There were only seven of them and four harpoons. If it would be up to Shinon, she would be the odd one, but that was not to be. She needed to lead and let her team do the work. She was sure they wanted it that way too.

When no response came, Lina merely smiled. She pondered whether things were just to tense right now for small talk, or if something else was going on.
